Me: Mizu’s gender in Blue Eye Samurai is complex and ambiguous even to him/her/them and that’s part of the richness of the story, not a reason for the fandom to get upset at one another or especially at the show creators for saying they envisioned Mizu as a woman struggling to survive in a society hostile towards her racial background and women in general. My trusty Thinkpad went kaputt this week with the charger socket dying and refusing to detect any power cable anymore, which makes the laptop impossible to recharge 😭 I'm trying to accept that it's officially dead and professional repairs are so expensive 💸 that I think it makes more sense to try and save money for a new laptop.

I'm borrowing my parents' old PC and using my tv as a monitor, but it's really difficult to do any of my usual creative things with this setup because the colors are off and I can't make out the details or some of the menus on the screen and I'm frustrated just from trying 😩

My friend reminded me that I do have a Ko-Fi account, so if anyone enjoys my gifsets or fanart or my Sims content or any other creative thing I do in fandom, and feels like supporting my new laptop saving project through my Ko-Fi, I would be very thankful 🥰

A common complaint I've seen about the proship community is that we don't take callouts seriously enough. Which, understandable!

But my 2 cents is that when "this user is an actual child predator", "this user ships minor/adult ships" and "this user is against harassing people over minor/adult ships" are treated with the same amount of severity, it is genuinely difficult to determine if someone is an actual threat to others.

If I see a callout post with evidence that could easily be doctored, or no evidence, its easy to assume that antis are making it up to ruin lives, considering the batshit insane shit antis send me on the reg.

Today is the first day of the weeklong strike for a ceasefire in Gaza.

I have realized that I do not think the message has spread far, at least on this website. This might be due to the lack of internet in Gaza, it has been down for days. Not much can be said by the citizens there, it's like some people forgot about them. I encourage all of you to share this post, or make your own, letting everyone know about this strike. This is something that should transcend the aesthetic of your blog. My blog was a gimmick blog, but for this week, it is a blog for spreading information and awareness.

Bisan Odwa (@wizard_bisan1 on instagram) has called for this strike. She is a journalist from Gaza, who has been experiencing this horrid violence for 15 weeks. 107 days. 2568 hours.

Handala (حنظلة) is a symbol of Palestinian resistance. He was created in 1969 by political cartoonist Naji al-Ali, critical of Israel as well as Arab regimes.

Handala is 10 years old, the age Naji was when he was forced to leave his home during the 1948 Nakba, and is always seen from his turned back. Today, Handala is still 10 years old. On the day Handala is able to return home, he will then grow up and be seen from the front.

Naji died on August 29, 1987, victim of an assassination. Naji lives on through Handala.

Guess who's still got a job at least.✋

As I was doing the skill test expected of me, I kept uttering to myself that I was intentionally fucking it up. That the two years-worth of growth and advance command of Graphic Design suddenly dissipated the moment they asked me to present my skills for a position I clearly did not want. That this restructuring is more than surface-level bullshit.

Mergers suck ass. I kept dealing with people I've had some level of closeness to come in for an interview with Head Honcho HR and tell them they're laid off, effective immediately, and that they're still paid! Only that you're met with information that they won't need you anymore because your position is redundant. I've seen a total of 10 close co-workers with folders and sheets of paper in their hands when they came back. All this week!

It's cruel what they've done, and disappointing doesn't even cut to whatever else has happened, why things went off-axis. Why it even resorted to this.

So I did the skill test today on top of work I am asked of, but I made it look like a kid learning Photoshop at 10. I don't want to be with such a toxic work environment, and I've faced being laid off as a way out of this shithole.

#this month is grueling #but i think i'm in the clear for now until a better opportunity comes. the hunt continues.
