Did you know that if you cut a worm in half the two halves become two new worms? I was told this as a kid and believed it, but it’s only half true. In reality, some worms can regenerate segments if they’re cut off, but the more segments lost, the less chance this is. I’m not saying that I spent time as a kid cutting worms in half like some perverse horticultural Jack the Ripper, but I also didn’t care too much when digging in the garden because I figured they’d be alright.
