There's a cup of tea left on the counter for him in the quiet. Beatrix's own is cradled between her sweater paws, her gaze on the dark sky outside the window.

"You and me." She says, almost too quiet to be heard. "It feels like we started an unending history."

"Huh?" John blinks, "I, uh, what do you mean?" His head tilts just a little to one side as his distracted gaze is drawn to her from the blanket of stars scintillating at them through the atmosphere. Looking out from the veranda windows, closed to keep John's skinny space-self safe from the night's chill, the sky is devoid of light pollution and so thick with silver constellations, reflecting off the surface of the pool, that makes it feel like the whole world is nothing but stars.

It's almost as good as his view from Thunderbird Five.

...Almost.

He'd been watching one blip of light in particular; a tiny, out of place star that is, in reality, his precious space station. Alan's up there at the moment and John has been wildy suppressing the urge to check in on him all day; with mixed success.

Eos is keeping an eye. He reminds himself to soothe hia anxiety. It'll be fine.

With a sigh that brings himself to the here and now, John reaches out and takes up his own mug, steam curling over his skin as he raises it to his lips with a contented hum.

Assam. One of the Lady Penelope's blends. Fantastic choice.

"Thanks for making the tea." The corners of his mouth edge almost into a smile, "I'd nearly forgotten it was there."
