So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????

I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.

Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

Like. I remember back in my grocery store cashier days I did so much crazy shit.

When WIC (Women, infants, and children voucher program to help low income mothers/families with children) people were in my line I would pretty much know who they were. Before the cards they had to tell us upfront they were WIC and show us their vouchers for what they were allowed to get (it was awful some times. Like. 2 gallons of milk. $4 worth of vegetables etc etc). They’d always have items hanging back, waiting to see what the total was and if they would have to take it off the belt.

I began to place the fruits/vegetables a certain way on the register scale so that like 1/2lbs of grapes read as like .28lbs or something. Then act shocked when I said that they still had X amount of lbs left. They got all their fruit and vegetables.

I think it started to kinda? Catch on to the women? Because I would have the same moms in my line month after month. And even after they switched to the cards (they worked like food stamp cards?) I’d still do the same thing. They were able to get more produce for whatever shitty max amount Indiana gave them.

Anyways. Be chaotic. It’s more fun that way.

Maybe this is the wrong platform to pose this question given the average tumblr user but

Is it just me or did our generation (those of is who are currently 20-30 ish) just not get the opportunity to be young in the 'standard' sense?

Like, everyone I talk to who's over 40 has all their wild stories about their teens and 20s, being young and dumb, and then I talk to my friends and coworkers and classmates, and we just... dont.

#I went through a journey reading all of this #I’ll be turning 31 this year and I definitely don’t have the stories that my parents had #or even some of my friends or my brothers #I have friends that are older and younger than me and what I gather is this: #the older ones have had their party years relatively early on #like 16-18 and into their early 20s and they don’t wanna do it anymore #the younger ones are either too busy working or focusing on their relationships to care #or (and this one is pretty rare amongst my friends) the pandemic has made them so anxious about getting sick that they just don’t wanna #and then there’s me #the youngest of 4 millennial kids (my oldest brother being born in 1986 and me in 1993) #to an ex army dad and a recovery room nurse mom #and on top of it I was the only girl #and there were so many stories about… everything that it made my parents nervous to let me out of their sight I suppose #all of this to say as much as I related to what I read here I felt like it was more because I was sheltered #and maybe that’s the point #I’m at a spot now where I wanna go out and do the things I couldn’t but the Gen Z’s of my friend groups don’t care #and the older milennials are… too tired? or they’ve done it and just wanna go to bed #sorry for ranting and rambling in the tags #about me
