Friends Halloween
To kick off one of my favourite months, I give you this one-shot that was stuck in my drafts for the past year. Hope you enjoy.
Friends Halloween
Nico was still in his bed around 4 pm. He didn’t have anything to do that day, or any place to be. Which meant embracing his lazy sleepy side. That only came around once or twice per year. Will’s illogical amount of energy must be rubbing out on him.
Will still hadn’t seen his text. It was a regular occurrence at that point. Was he feeling neglected by the constant disappearance of his boyfriend? Yes. Was it all worth it when he listened to said boyfriend talking about his shifts and surgeries. Also yes. But it was getting rather lonely and depressing never having him around. He wanted his boyfriend but deep down he knew that he was being selfish, and he should be happy and proud for him.
He heard someone banging his door. Nico didn’t even flinch as he knew who it was. The only person that would barge in his apartment and he wouldn’t care. He waited for 5 seconds before the door opened.
“Get up and go take a shower.” Reyna ordered him. She scanned the room and the expression on her face sent a shiver down his spine.
“I’m fine.” Nico reassured her.
“No, you aren’t. You’re hopeless romantic and want to spend Halloween with your boyfriend who is also hopeless romantic and celebrates Halloween like it’s a real holiday. And because you can’t spend Halloween together and you are cranky.”
“Reyna, you don’t have to worry about me.” Nico argued.
“I do. That’s why you keep me around. I’m your voice of reason.”
Nico raised his eyebrow. “No, you aren’t.”
“Who am I kidding? No, I am not. Anyway, that’s not the point. We’re celebrating Halloween.” She announced and started picking up the clothes from the floor.
“You hate Halloween.”
“I don’t hate Halloween. I just believe that there are holidays superior to the spooky day.”
“Like which one?”
“Christmas for starters.”
“Can’t really disagree with you on that. That’s a great reason to pretend that today is day like every other one.” Nico said in a desperate effort to ignore the day. He was upset Will was on a 26-hour shift, but there wasn’t anything he could do.
“Not happening. I know how much Halloween means to you, so we’re going to celebrate together.” Reyna promised him. Nico got out of his bed and straight to the bathroom.
“Give me ten minutes.”
“I don’t have any other place to be.”
15 minutes later, Reyna was tidying his living room, which didn’t sit well with him. “You don’t have to clean up my messes. You’re my guest.”
“No, I’m your family. Which means I clean up around here as well.”
“That’s not how it works, but I am going to drop the subject as I know we’ll get nowhere.”
“Just admit that I’m right.” Reyna smiled in victory as she put three blankets in the basket near the couch.
“Never. Then, our friendship will be boring.” Nico said and opened his television “Million dollar question: Nightmare Before Christmas or Hocus Pocus?”
“Hocus Pocus.” Reyna replied immediately. “Nightmare before Christmas is more a Christmas movie rather than a Halloween one.”
“That’s what Will believes as well.” Nico said as he put on Hocus Pocus. Reyna had already brought out his Halloween stash that he had in his kitchen. After the movie was over and they were waiting for their pizza to arrive, Reyna found the perfect opportunity to ask the real one million dollars question.
“How and you didn’t shadow travel to him?”
Nico immediately stood frigid like he was busted. “It’s complicated.” He coughed.
“Did you break up?” Was the only logical answer that crossed Reyna’s mind.
“No, no, no, definitely not. We’re good and still together.” He reassured her.
“Then what’s up?”
“I’m going to tell you something that I have only told to Will and Hazel.” Nico paused for a second. “And it has to remain strictly between us. Nobody needs to know.”
“I am not going to tell anyone.” Reyna promised as she realised that Nico was serious, and the subject meant a lot to him.
“I stopped using my powers. Like if it’s in my power, I’ll never use them again in my life.” He announced to his best friend.
“Oh, I didn’t expect that. How come?”
“I’ve come to the conclusion that the more I use my powers the more I disassociate with reality. It might have nothing to do with my powers, but I feel more stable.” Nico admitted. “You know, the underworld is a part of me, but for the past few weeks I’ve been feeling better. Less depressed, I’ve been eating more, working out more, doing homework and shit. It might all be inside my mind, but I think my powers and emotions are linked.”
“I’m proud of you.”
“Reyna-“
“You are getting better. I’m telling you that. Because I can see all the progress you’ve been making me. Nico, a year ago you were rotting inside this apartment, and we had no idea why that was happening to you. I wish it really is just your excessive power usage and nothing else. You shouldn’t be worried about anything else rather than making the Dean’s list this year.”
“I thought you would have a different opinion on the matter.” He said a bit confused. He was relieved Reyna wasn’t disapproving his decision, but it also seemed weird at the same time.
“Because I come from a strict Roman household where powers are important?” She asked.
“Kind of? I don’t mean it in any negative way though.”
“I know. And Nico di Angelo I care about you more than you could ever imagine. And your powers don’t make you who you are. I’m glad you’re getting better.”
“Even if that means pushing aside the godly mythological side of my life?”
“Especially then. It takes a lot of strength to contain the most feral and strong part of yourself. I would never be able to do that, so yes, once again you made me proud.” She smiled. “And since we’re confessing stuff to each other, I guess it’s my turn.” Reyna said.
“You don’t have to.” Nico reassured her.
“I can’t have children.” She announced which caused Nico to remain quiet.
“Reyna-“
“The doctors aren’t exactly sure why. Probably it was Circe’s island, or the pirates or I probably got hurt in battle at some point.” She confessed. “But it doesn’t matter because I’ve never wanted kids on the first place.”
“Not wanting and not being able to are two different things.”
“I know.” She chocked.
Nico pulled her closer and hugged her. “I’m sorry.”
“No, I’m sorry. Now I can’t be your surrogate.”
“Please don’t even think about it. It should be the least of your worries. Will and aren’t even on the same time zone right now. If we ever find the time to settle down we’ll find the way.”
“I just, I don’t know.” She sighed. “I have everything I’ve ever wanted, but I don’t feel like I’ve done it all.”
“You’re 23 years old. You aren’t supposed to know everything.”
“But I feel like I should.” Reyna said a bit confused.
“All I know is that you’re a talented person who has faced so much shit and deserves the world after everything that has happened. And I truly mean it, Reyna. You are the head of New Rome and in charge of Camp Jupiter and you never stop for a moment. I honestly don’t know how you do it all. I struggle with a simple college degree while you manage to put two feet in a shoe. I just want you to be happy.”
“Is it bad that I wish I wanted a simpler life? I wish I wanted to get married and have kids, so that I would feel normal. But I can’t even have kids. My body doesn’t even want to be normal. And I don’t know how to feel about all that.” She said trying to control her voice.
“You are normal. You don’t need to beat yourself up over something you have zero control over. And you aren’t alone. You have me, Will, Hazel, Frank, your sister, and a whole bunch of people who love and cherish you. You’re my sister, Reyna. You helped me so much throughout the years that I don’t even know how it’s possible to ever repay you.” He confessed to her.
“It’s simple. You owe me your first born.” Reyna half-smiled.
“Done.” Nico said and shook her hand.
“Thanks for spending Halloween with me. I really needed this.” Nico confessed as he took the last candy from the bucket in front of them.
“I needed this as well.”

Worked like magic
Percy was sitting in the stands waiting for Charlie to finish his hockey practice. It was the last week of May meaning that it was the last training before the summer holidays, but Charlie had insisted to go to the summer training as well. Percy was going to coach a summer swimming programme as well at the community swimming pool and he was pretty excited about it as he was taking an extended paternity leave from swimming since Lana was born.
“Did you see me? How I put the puck in the net?” He asked him excitedly as they were driving home. Sally with Theo and Lana as Lana was sick, and Theo didn’t like loud places such as the ice rink.
“You were incredible, bub. A true hockey star.” Percy encouraged him.
“You think?” Charlie said as Percy continued talking.
“I know so.” He stared at him from the rearview mirror. “And do you know why?”
“Why?”
“Because you’re having fun. And that’s what really matters. If you don’t have fun, then there is no point playing hockey. Or doing anything else in general. You should remember this.”
“I love Hockey. It’s the best sport ever. I don’t want to ever stop playing.” Charlie exclaimed which made Percy smile even more. Charlie stayed quiet for a second. “Do you miss swimming?”
He stared at his son’s direction lovingly, “I do, bub. But I can’t swim like I used to anymore. And it’s fine because I had a lot of fun all those years. And now I get to spend a lot of time with you, Zoe, Theo and Lana.”
“I think you’re still a good swimmer. The best in the whole world. And the best dad.”
Percy tried to not melt to what Charlie said. “Thanks, bub. I appreciate it.”
“I want to be like you when I’m older.” He exclaimed and Percy was a step away from actually crying. It meant the world to him that his son wanted to be like him, even though he wanted him to be better than him.
“You have a great future ahead of you, but don’t rush to get older.”
“Being 8 is very boring. I need more.”
“Believe me, one day you’ll be wishing you were 8 for a bit longer.”
“I don’t think so. I want to be old enough to play hockey all day and not do anything else.” Charlie exclaimed as they arrived at home. “I’m going to the backyard.” He rushed and left Percy on his own.
Percy put Charlie’s gear in the garage and took the groceries in the kitchen. Lana was sitting on the counter while Sally took a batch of cookies out of the oven. “Hey, how did it go?” Percy asked his mum as he kissed Lana who was preoccupied with the cookies next to her.
“She doesn’t have a fever and Theo is reading in the treehouse.” Sally told him as she closed the oven.
“Do you want to stay over for dinner?” Percy suggested.
“Yes, Nana. Stay for dinner.” Lana agreed with him and nodded her head excitedly.
“Estelle is going crazy with graduation and everything, so I have to go home. But I’ll see you all on Sunday. You’re still coming, right?” She verified their traditional Sunday dinner.
“Of course, mum. What else could we do?”
“But Sunday is too far away.” Lana complained and crossed her arms. Percy found it very funny as Lana spent her afternoons with Sally while Percy dealt with Charlie’s and Zoe’s practises.
“It’s only a whole day away. I’ll come around more often now that you don’t have school. I promise. Now, I need to leave before Estelle goes ballistic.” Sally kissed him and Lana and left. Percy decided that it would be a good time to start cooking.
"You got this! Just push it in.” Percy heard Charlie saying to - he was guessing- Theo. He decided to check on his sons as he was in the kitchen cooking lunch for the past hour, and he was curious what they were up to.
He went outside where he knew very well that Charlie was. After his interest in hockey became a lot bigger, he asked for a goal so he could practise even when he wasn’t on the ice. His uncle Bobby hooked him up real nice with a goal, inlineρs and more gear to practise with.
Charlie was holding his stick and shot the puck straight in the net. “Do you want to try?” he asked his younger brother.
Theo still had difficulties getting out of the house and spending time with other people and sometimes even Charlie who had too much energy for Theo’s liking. But that day was an exception as he had joined his older brother to play hockey. He was holding Charlie’s old stick and even though he was a bit hesitant he shot the puck in the goal as well. “See, I knew you could do it. Do you want to try again?”
“Yes.” Theo did it again, with Charlie hyping him up. Percy was still unnoticed by his kids, and he continued watching them from a distance. Theo hit the puck again and Charlie started cheering him again.
"I didn't expect you to be this good. You've got some serious skills." Charlie encouraged him.
“Really?” He asked in return.
“Yes, really.”
Theo didn’t react at Charlie’s comment, but Percy knew that it meant a lot to him. Zoe and Charlie were twins, and they were 10 steps ahead from Theo because of their age difference. That meant that Theo had to try harder if he wanted to keep up with them which was difficult considering his siblings were social butterflies he was quieter and more contained. So, Charlie giving him that kind of support and attention gave Theo the validation he needed to continue.
“Lunch is ready. Do you want to come inside?” Percy announced.
“Yes, I’m starved.” Charlie exaggerated which caused Percy to grin.
“Then, good thing I’m feeding you.”
“Obviously. Where is Zoe?”
“She’s with Bianca.”
“Why?” His son replied like Percy had told him Zoe had gone to space.
“Because they are friends. Do you want Colin to come over tomorrow?”
“Can he?”
“Definitely. I’ll call his mum after we eat.”
“Score.” Charlie sat down at the table with Theo next to him. Lana had just woken up from her nap as she was a bit sick and slept the entire morning. Percy put her in her high chair. “Are you feeling better, Lana?” Charlie asked his sister. Lana just nodded in disagreement. “Do you want to watch Wall-E after we eat?”
“Can we watch Ariel?” She asked him.
“Whatever you want.”
Percy served them their lunch and sat down to eat with them. Charlie was narrating to Lana his entire hockey practise while she nodded excitedly like she understood everything he told her. But what surprised him the most was Theo, who after his brother stopped talking, decided to ask him something. “Charlie? Can we play hockey again? But with roller skates.”
He swore that he had never seen Charlie light up so much in his life. “Obviously. Whenever you want.”
“Really?”
“And you can come with me and play hockey.” Charlie said filled with excitement.
“But I don’t know how to skate.” Theo almost whispered like he was embarrassed.
“I’ll teach you. It’s just like roller blades. We’re going to have so much fun.”

Annabeth didn’t come home until 8 pm as they had a million things to get done before the end of the week. There was nothing she wanted more than to sit down and relax and not do anything else for the rest of the day. “I’m home.” She announced her presence as she realised that there was an odd silence inside her bustling with noise house.
She left her things at the entrance and made her way to the kitchen. She was shocked to find all the chairs in the middle of the room, with blankets, pillows and the sofa cushions all over the place. “What is this?" She asked wondering what explanation her family would give to her.
She expected Charlie or Zoe to explain her, but Percy popped out of the opening and smiled at her. “It's a fort."
"Okay? Why have you built a fort in my kitchen?" She asked again waiting for a better explanation.
"We have to protect ourselves from the monsters out there, honey.” By we, she was sure Percy meant him and the kids. He did stuff like that all the time. Going down to their level and playing all day with them. “You're in the risk area right now, by the way." He kissed her before going back inside the fort.
“Hey! You’re leaving me out here with the monsters?” She decided to play along.
“Mama, no!” Her tiniest blonde monster shouted as she ran at her direction. Annabeth caught her and lifted her of the ground and gave her a big kiss.
“You came out here to save me, bug?”
“I did, Mama. Can we please go inside now?” She pleaded and Annabeth couldn’t deny her anything. As she entered the fort, she couldn’t deny that they had done an incredible job as there was no chance it was going to collapse on top of them. Zoe and Theo were watching something on Percy’s iPad and Lana ran up to Charlie who resumed playing the ‘Little Mermaid’ for her.
Annabeth’s heart melted to the sight of her 3-year-old daughter hugging her 8-year-old brother while they watched the movie. Lana most of the times liked being the baby of her family. That meant she had 3 older siblings looking after her and treating her like a princess. Well, Charlie and Theo loved her to death, but Zoe enjoyed tormenting her and making her believe absurd things like every big sister did. She like talking to Theo as they were closer to age, and Theo didn’t mind her playing in his room while he did his own thing.
But Annabeth could tell that Lana loved her big brother more than anyone else in the whole wide world. Surprisingly, Charlie was the calmest out of the siblings and the most affectionate. He never pushed her away which to the eyes of tiny Lana made him the greatest person that ever stepped on planet earth. Even at that moment where Lana was a bit under the weather, Charlie was the one watching her favourite movie even though it was his least favourite sea related movie. They stayed inside the fort until the four of them were fast asleep. After they were tucked inside their beds and sleeping their heads away, Annabeth took a shower and went to bed. “Charlie talked Theo into learning how to skate.” Percy told her.
“Only Charlie could manage something like that. I’m glad Theo will give it a shot. He might like it.”
“They had a lot of fun this afternoon. Charlie was teaching him how to shoot.”
“I’m happy they spent some time together. Sometimes I’m worried about him.”
“I know, hon. But I’m sure he’ll be fine. He is fighter. He won’t give up.”
“But still. I love him so much, but he’s going to 1st grade this year. He’ll have to do things he hate, and I don’t know how he’ll react.”
“He’ll have to adjust to the new events. Don’t worry about him, he’s got the best parts of both of us.”
That seemed to reassure Annabeth a bit. “So, tell me more. What did they do after Charlie’s practise?”
“They were shooting pucks for nearly an hour. Then, Charlie skated around for a bit and then they ate. After Lana woke up from her late nap we ate and when Zoe came home they built the fort.”
“I wish I had that kind of energy. Run around and do a billion things before the sun sets.”

Percy couldn’t fall asleep in his cabin. Not when she was only a few feet away from him. After everything that they had been through, he hated being away from her. She was like oxygen; without her he would die. Her lifeline was connected to his and he put her above of all his needs. She was always going to be his top priority. And he felt it inside his bones that she needed his help. She had put walls around her and tried to hide her feelings from him. But he wasn’t going to let her stay away from him, not when he knew that she needed him the most.
She was right where he expected her to be. In the library of Argo, where nobody else would step inside except for her. Percy entered the room and locked the door behind her. “Percy? What are you doing here?” She asked him as he sat next to her.
He kissed her softly to try and help her get loose. He didn’t like how tense and guarded she had been since he had returned. Deep down he was wondering whether it was his fault she was like that. Maybe she didn’t want to be with him anymore and she didn’t want to tell him. “How long have you been in here?”
“Just a few hours. I ate my breakfast and started researching for our mission.” She explained as he put his hand around her waist.
“It’s nearly midnight, Wise Girl. You’ve been holed in here all day long.”
“It can’t be midnight.” She shook her head. “No way.”
“It is. So, I’m officially getting you out of here.” Percy said and got up.
“No, I’m still not done with my project.” Annabeth refused and continued reading the book she was holding.
“You need to eat and sleep well. The project can wait a few hours. I promise.” He held his hand for her to grab, so that they could leave. Annabeth stayed still like she was trying to ignore him. Percy had been self-destructing his entire life and he was not going to let his girl do the same with her. She had gone through too much torture already for her to keep hurting herself to not let others see the most vulnerable parts of herself. “Let me take care of you. Please.”
“I’m fine, Percy. Don’t worry about me.” She reassured him with a broken expression.
“You always worry too much. I want to help you out. You don’t have to do everything on your own.”
“What we need to worry about at the moment is making out alive.” Annabeth said and her voice cracked at the end.
“We’re going to make it. I’ve already promised that I am not letting you go anywhere. You don’t win anything by overthinking the whole situation. I know it’s easier to say than do but try to turn off that incredible brain of yours every once and a while.”
Annabeth stayed quiet, looking at his direction with her beautiful grey eyes staring deep in his soul. He wished he could take away all of her pain with the click of a button. “I want you to tell me what’s really going on. You’ve been worried and distant, and I need you to be healthy and happy to not go insane. I love you so much it hurts. You’re the only one who keeps me going, so do me a favour and let me take care of you.” Percy was sure that she wouldn’t say anything and just shut him off, but her reaction surprised him even more. She started sobbing. She put her hands on her face and started crying. He had never seen her like that.
“I’m not fine, I know I said I was but I’m not.” She confessed trying to catch her breath. “I hate it. All of it. I thought I lost you and now you’re back and nothing is the way it was, and I don’t want to be alone again.”
Percy pulled her closer to him and she cried on his shoulder while he caressed her skin. “You are never going to be alone. Not as long as I’m alive. You’re allowed to let down your guards and be vulnerable. Let me carry some of all the weight you’re carrying.”
“I can do it all. That was what I was made for. To be a soldier.” She sobbed as she looked in Percy’s eyes. He put his hands on her face with their faces only a few inches apart.
“That wasn’t the reason you were born. You’re so much more than your mother’s daughter. Screw her. You’re your own person and as soon as we are done here, we’re running away from this world. You have so much to live for and I would hate myself if I couldn’t make you understand what a beautiful person you are.”
“You’re sure that we’re going to make it?”
“100%. Now please let me take care of you. That’s literally my job.” Percy said and helped Annabeth get up with him.
“I thought your job was to save the world.” Annabeth wiped her tears away.
“No, my job is to take care of my amazing girlfriend that never takes a break.”

Can you write a scene with Theo and Bianca??? Like when they talk about bianca's depression??????
There'll be happiness after me, but there was happiness because of me
Theo was the quietest, most reserved and introverted out of his siblings. He didn’t have a problem being holed up in his bedroom all day and he wasn’t attached with people the way his siblings were. He only hang out with a few people who peaked his interest and made it worth it for him to let them in his mind that was honestly a labyrinth. He’s been this way since he was a little kid, he felt everything was going so fast for him, but in order for the others to keep up with him his reality looked like watching paint dry on a wall. And he hated every single part of it. He disliked how everything had to be so complicated for him and even the tiniest social encounters were a gordian knot waiting to be untied only to realise that it was impossible.
Throughout his life, only a few people had proved themselves worthy to be a part of his life. Charlie was the first person that made him realise that he was enough and helped him get out of his bubble by encouraging him to play hockey with him. Zoe shared his passion for Maths and Physics, and she was the only person around his age that could understand his rambling and absurd theories. Lana was his little sister and in a world where Zoe and Charlie always were a team, she was always on his team. She didn’t get his way of thinking, but he knew that he could count on her.
Ryder became his best friend by accident. It was a consequence of their families being so close even before the two were born and their sisters being best friends. He liked that Ryder never pressured him to talk and despite the two of them being polar opposites they kept hanging out. Ryder was one of the most social people he knew, yet extremely picky with the people he chose close to him and unbothered by anyone’s comments. Theo wished he could be like that as well. Although Ryder could easily be passed as a brainless jock, he was really smart to the point Theo knew he wouldn’t get judged for his nerdy interests.
But the person who really made a difference in Theo’s life since he could remember himself was Bianca. She spent an ungodly amount of time in his house growing up and her impact on him was evident. She was the first member of the Shakespeare Brigade and the first person he talked to about books. He was always reading a few grades ahead of him, but Bianca was the same way. She had such a nice and cool nature; she was so caring and warm and welcome that although he couldn’t feel affection for anyone, he knew that she was a person he felt comfortable around. She was an observer just like him. Not a single detail could escape her and with immense knowledge came unbearable pressure. Theo wasn’t the best reader of emotions, but he could tell when Bianca started sinking in her own emotions and surrendering to the demons that lived inside her head.
He first noticed she wasn’t eating or was fake eating her dinner. Then, she stopped showing up to parties, started cancelling her plans with Zoe and started disappearing. If you didn’t know her, you would think that her behaviour was normal for a top student that spent hours studying. But Theo could read her signs better than that. He couldn’t ask Ryder was going on as it wasn’t a subject he could easily discuss. He also didn’t want to talk to his parents as they probably didn’t know how important his friendship with Bianca was. Zoe was going to take her side and that left him Charlie who wasn’t the best at noticing changes on someone. But he couldn’t just do nothing and wait.
“Do you think Bianca is acting a bit strange?” Theo asked his brother as he was driving them home after practise.
“What? No, she’s just studying a lot at the moment.” Charlie replied just like he expected.
“I don’t think it’s that. You can’t tell me that you don’t see it. She is drifting away.” Theo argued.
“She’s Bianca. She is always working too much and stressing for things out of her control. Don’t worry about her.”
“No, this is different.” He insisted. He hated being dismissed especially when he knew that he was right.
“How is it different? Every year it’s the same thing. She starts studying a lot more. Then she joins one or two extra clubs and disappears every day. In a few weeks, she will be as good as new.” Charlie comforted him. Truth be told he had never met a person who challenged themselves more than Bianca, but still her behaviour wasn’t adding up.
“It’s not the same. She is hiding from everyone. She thinks that if she is busy, everything will go away. There is no way you aren’t the slightest worried.” He turned to Charlie for a bit of sympathy.
“I honestly don’t know. It’s not something out of line for Bianca. Maybe she heard the Harvard Statistics, freaked out and she tried to make her 3.9999 GPA better.” Charlie looked away from him.
“That’s exactly what I’m talking about. She is barely talking to you and Zoe. All she does is study and disappear from planet earth. Even when she is here, she isn’t. I am worried about her.”
“Why are you even worried? You don’t talk to her. The only time you see her around is when she’s with Zoe at home and even then you can’t even face her.” Charlie said.
It hurt Theo knowing how shallow he seemed to his brother. He wanted to believe that he knew him better than that. But even the best adventures couldn’t decipher the mystery that he was. “There’s more to me than what you think.”
“If you are so concerned about her, go talk to her. I don’t think she’s acting stranger than usual, so I can’t ask her about it.”
“Fine,” Theo replied and remained silent for the remainder of the drive.
How was he even supposed to go talk to Bianca? Most days he was embarrassed to even talk to Charlie and Zoe, and they were his siblings. He was terrified of talking to Bianca, but he knew he had to ask her before it was too late.
He was studying on the kitchen table when Zoe stepped inside with a leash in one hand and her Pomeranian on the other. “Here is my favourite brother.” She said as she waited for Theo’s reaction.
“Charlie left half an hour ago. He has extra practise.”
“You’re very funny, has anyone ever told you?”
“I can’t detect sarcasm, Zoe.” He confessed.
“But you’re doing an excellent job using it.”
“What do you want?”
“Can you take Lily for a walk?” Theo groaned, “I was going to do it myself, but I have to go to an urgent team meeting. Can you do this for me?”
Theo sighed as he knew Zoe handled Lily fine by herself. “Fine, I’ll do it. Go to your meeting.”
Zoe hugged him, which made him stiffen as he wasn’t the best with physical contact. “Sorry, I forgot.”
“It’s fine. No worries.”
Theo put his headphones on as he entered the park. Lily just like her owner had a lot of excess energy which she had to take off by playing and running around. Theo didn’t take her on walks often as Zoe had her set, but there were days when he would take her with him. He sat on a bench that was far away from everyone else in the dog park as he wanted to avoid any small talk with strangers. He pulled his copy of Henry VI from his pocket and started reading where he was left.
“My thoughts are whirled like a potter’s wheel: I know not where I am, nor what I do.” He heard someone say and as he lifted his head he noticed Bianca was there, probably taking her dog for a walk at the park as well. “Can I sit here?”
“S-Sure. Yes, no problem.” Theo stuttered as Bianca sat next to him.
“Are you alright?” Theo asked her. “Not ‘fine’. Is there something more serious going on with you? Because I think you aren’t fine and don’t want anyone to think that you are anything from perfect so you end up holing up and avoid confrontation with everyone because you want to be the person everyone can count on and not the person people need to take care off.” Theo rumbled and then realised how he probably messed everything up. Bianca was speechless, which even Theo could understand that wasn’t a good sign. “I know that I might be stepping a line, but I’m worried about you. You haven’t been yourself lately.”
Bianca swallowed hard and sighed. “You’re the first person to ask me that.” Theo didn’t know what to reply. “I am not doing well.”
“What’s wrong? I am not going to tell anyone. I promise.” He swore.
“I have clinical depression. I got diagnosed a month ago, but I didn’t want to worry anyone. You know how protective Zoe is of me and I didn’t want her to use her energy on me.” Bianca confessed. She was fidgeting with her thumb ring, “God, this is embarrassing.”
“No, it isn’t embarrassing. It’s human. You can’t be strong for this long.” Theo noticed a strange fog in Bianca’s piercing blue eyes.
“You are the only one who is going to find out. I haven’t told to anyone, and I don’t plan to. Maybe Zoe will find out as she is already a bit suspicious of me. I have depression. Not like we say it as a joke. Depression as in there is something wrong with me. Combined with my clinical anxiety, OCD, ADHD, lethargy and panic attacks it’s a real party.”
Theo didn’t know how to reply to her. He wasn’t good with handling other people’s emotions. “There isn’t something wrong with you. Depression isn’t a sign of weakness.”
“I am not feeling so bad when I’m doing something. Especially when I study for school. That’s why I’m studying and working so much. Is either that or being lethargic.” She explained. “Everything is so hard nowadays.”
“You look like you need someone to talk to.” Theo said.
Bianca just moved her head in surrender. He couldn’t miss the tears she wiped with the sleeve of her sweatshirt. “How did you even notice? I thought I was doing a good job.”
“You aren’t acting like yourself. You are rarely in the house anymore and Zoe misses you. And you don’t eat anything. Maybe the rest aren’t observing enough, but I notice everything, B. And I care enough about you to make this really awkward conversation.”
“You care about me?” Bianca asked him.
“You are one of the people I tolerate, and the list is terribly small as it is. I don’t want anything bad to happen to you. I know how much you mean for everyone, and you are stronger than what you think. I may be dense, but I am not ignorant.” He confessed.
Bianca’s mouth formed a small smile. “You are everything, but ignorant, Theo. Thanks for looking after me.”
“Are you going to be alright?”
“Maybe. I don’t know yet.” She replied. “I am trying my best, but it isn’t enough.”
“You have to give yourself permission to relax. You can’t carry all the weight all at once.”
“I do. That’s the problem. I don’t have time to sit down and relax. I have to get better as soon as possible, or I’ll start missing things. I can’t fall behind right now.”
Theo only then understood how horrible Bianca was feeling. She was suffocating under the immense pressure she put herself under. And he couldn’t help her out as much as she needed. He couldn’t be her person, but he couldn’t tell anyone else as her trust was more important. “You are doing so much for everyone. You need to take some time to yourself. You think that the worse thing that can happen at the moment is you falling behind, but it isn’t. The worst thing will be to lose you. And if you continue not forgiving yourself for being human, it’s going to be even worse. Not only for you, but and for everyone else involved.” Theo confessed.
“Can I count on you to not say anything?”
“Of course. I am not telling anyone. I swear. You can talk to me as much as you want. It’s not like anyone expects you talking to me.” He chuckled. “I don’t want you to think that you don’t have anyone to talk to.”

“Well, we’re officially a family now.”
“Have you seen my notes?” “Why would I steal your notes when I’m literally smarter than you.”
“It’s great that you want to become a princess when you’re older, honey. But even future monarchs have to eat their vegetables.”
“Use your words.”
“I’ve been waiting for you.”
"I had a weird dream. We were married and had kids." "This was not a dream and we're late to the parent meeting, honey."

“What’s on your face?”
"(insert name), is that a hickey on your neck?"
"I won't tell if you don't."
"Oi, only I’m allowed to tease them about that!"
“Open that door!”
"It’s my way or the highway, buckaroo.“
"But first, hot chocolate.”
“Is that…is that a freaking tattoo?!”

Does Leo have kids in the future????? If so, who are they and could you write don't headcannons?????
Hi! Thanks for the ask <3
So, the answer is yes and no.
When I first started writing Leo and Calypso had two kids: Brooklyn and Liz. But then I thought that I had too many characters and I didn't include them in the main story as much as Charlie, Zoe and Bianca. But because I have some headcanons I'll give them to you.
PS. As they are deleted characters, the headcanons I mention aren't part of the story.
Brooklyn are pansexual and uses they/them pronouns.
They don't have any powers, but they are extremely well with machines like Leo.
They were best friends with Charlie when they were in preschool.
They live in Houston as Leo has a great job there.
They got their first tattoo at 16 and by 20 had almost their entire body covered in tattoos.
Are very close with Bianca and took Ryder to get a ceptum with them.
Liz is an angel and her best friend is Emily (aka Frazel's daughter) and Nellie (Jasiper's deleted daughter)
She is a carbon copy of Calypso.
But her character is 100% Leo.
Brooklyn is more artistic, but Liz more practical.
She plays volleyball and knows everything about Zodiacs.
Both Liz and Brooklyn are really close with the Solangelo kiddos as they spent a part of their summer in Austin and they always went to visit them in Houston.

Don’t leave me
Annabeth was still trying to fully grasp what had happened in the past few hours. They had reached New Rome and Percy was finally back to her. She didn’t want them to ever be apart again. She had just finished showering when someone knocked on her door. “Yes?”
The door opened slowly, only to reveal her handsome boyfriend who was all she could think about in the past 6 months. “Hey, Wise Girl. Can I come inside?”
“You don’t have to ask that.” Annabeth patted the mattress next to where she was sitting. Percy still smiled the same way which made her feel more at ease. She was afraid that things would be different between the two of them, but Percy was still the same person she had fallen in love with.
He sat next to her, and pulled her closer to him, closing the gap between them. Their fingers intertwined and he placed his free at the nape of her neck, caressing her skin until their foreheads were touching. “I really missed you.” He said with a raspy voice.
Annabeth was feeling her eyes water. That’s all she had wished for the past few months. Just to have him close to her, holding him like he was her lifeline. She couldn’t even talk from how overwhelmed she was. There was a moment she had thought that she wouldn’t see him again. That it would be like when he disappeared before the battle of the Labyrinth, but she wouldn’t see him again. His fingers wiped the tears from her cheeks. “It’s fine. We’re fine.”
“I don’t want you to ever leave me again.” She whispered as she sat on his lap. “Never. I won’t be able to handle it.”
“I’m never leaving you again. Even if it means going through hell with you.” Percy reassured her. “You and I are a team. You’ve played on your own for too long. You are never going to be alone again. I can’t control the future, but I can promise you that I’ll be by your side.”
She kissed him until she felt like she couldn’t breathe anymore. “Good thing, because you aren’t allowed to leave me again.”
“You’ve been strong too long. Let it all out. You’re safe now.”
Percy’s words hit Annabeth right in her core. He was the only person who could make her feel safe like she could let him in the walls she had built for herself. She rested her chin on his shoulder as he rested his head on her pillow. She didn’t want to let him go, and she wasn’t going to. Screw Coach Hedge and his stupid rules. Percy wasn’t going to leave her room. Even being in the end of the corridor felt suffocating for her.
“Do you think, we’ll survive this? Gaea and all that stuff?”
“I am sure, love. Because I have big plans for the two of us.”
“Really? Like what?”
“We can come stay in the West Coast. In New Rome there is a university that I’ll probably manage to get in while you study in Berkeley because you are so smart. I don’t know what I’ll study but I’ll figure this out later.” She had put her head on his chest, feeling the vibrations of his voice all over her body.
“And then?”
“Then, I’m going to marry you. We’ll move back to New York so that we can be close to Camp and my mum. You’ll have your own Architectural firm while I take care of the kids.”
“We have kids?”
“If you want to.” Percy was playing with her hair. “And we’ll have a house in Montauk where we’ll move after retirement. I’ll be sitting on the porch all day and you’ll be doing a new project every day because you love being busy.”
Annabeth had closed her eyes, feeling her fears getting blocked by Percy’s voice. “More.”
“You’ll probably redesign half of Manhattan and when we’ll walk through the city and you’re admiring the buildings, I’ll be saying to random people that you designed them and because you are down to earth you’ll blush and pretend like it’s nothing. And I’ll be immensely proud of you. No matter what.”
“I wish I could have found you sooner.”
“I wish I could have come crawling back to you.”

Little League
Little league
Percy wasn’t a big fan of early mornings. Especially on Saturdays when he wanted to do nothing all day. But having kids changes a lot of things in your life. Including your routine and your much needed sleep on weekends.
That was the reason behind him braiding his daughter’s hair at 7 am. “Come on, daddy. We’ll be late.” Zoe complained.
“We have an hour ahead of us. You have nothing to worry about.”
“But we have a game today.”
“They won’t start without you.” He smiled as he liked that his daughter was old enough to be passionate about her hobbies. “You’re ready.”
Zoe stared herself at the mirror. “Thank you, daddy.”
“I’ll go make pancakes.” Percy said as he took Zoe’s bag with him downstairs.
Charlie was in the living room, watching television and drinking a smoothie. “Hey, bub. What do you want on your pancakes?”
Charlie turned to face him. “Chocolate chips and maple syrup.”
“Coming right up.” Percy let down Zoe’s bag and took the batter he had already prepared and started making pancakes. Did they have enough time? No. Would they make it on time? To be announced. 5 minutes later everyone was eating pancakes and they managed to get out of the house on time.
Percy was sitting in the stands wishing he had brought an extra coffee with him. Annabeth was rocking Lana who was sleeping in her stroller, away from the other parents. Charlie and Theo were sitting on the grass close to her, looking very bored. Percy tried to focus on the game, but the lack of caffeine was making it impossible for him. Magically, a coffee appeared next to him. Well, Nico gave him the coffee as he sat next to him. “I love you.”
“I am not your wife, Percy.” Nico said as he drank some of his coffee.
“You would love that, wouldn’t you.” Percy joked.
“Fuck off.”
“There are little kids here.” Percy gasped. He knew that Nico was still bad at censoring himself even after 3 kids, something that Percy liked to take advantage of.
“And all of them are asleep.” Nico ran his hand through his hair and put on his aviators.
“Thanks for the coffee.”
“We should convince the coach to move everything an hour later. I can’t function this early.”
“I totally agree. It’s enough that I have to wake up early on weekdays, I am not doing it on weekends as well.” Percy complained. “And we have Charlie’s games on Sundays.”
“Still interested in hockey?”
“Crazy about it. Although, Annabeth is making him a Bruins fan which I am not a big fan of. Like there are excellent teams in New York. Like the Rangers.”
“I prefer the Devils.” Nico added. “Or the Islanders.”
“Not you as well. I need someone to agree with me. Will! Come here.” Percy said to Will who was a few steps bellow them. He climbed up and sat next to his husband. Soon Rachel came as well holding Jasmine. “Rach? What are you doing here?”
“Bianca wanted me to come, so here I am.”
“What’s the best NHL team?”
“Penguins or Bruins.” Will stated.
“What did I expect from a Harvard graduate? Rach?”
“Rangers.” Rachel replied like it was the only right answer. Which was in Percy’s mind.
“Thank you. One sane person around here.” Percy exclaimed.
The next 6 minutes were relatively quiet until a girl from the other team pushed a girl from their team. “Penalty! That’s unacceptable.” Will shouted making Nico sink lower in his seat.
Will was way too passionate in Percy’s opinions. Especially if you considered that they were watching 6-year-old girls play soccer. But it was fun to watch him. And even more amusing watching Nico telling him to be quieter. “Will, for God’s sake. It’s Little League, not NFL.”
“Technically, this is soccer not football.” Will snickered.
“Only in America.” Nico noted.
“The player should be disqualified.” He argued. Percy wished he had popcorn with him.
“The player is a 4-year-old.”
“It doesn’t matter. It’s illegal behaviour.”
“Like I haven’t seen the moves you were teaching Bianca.” Nico accused him. Rachel pulled a packet cookies from her bag and gave some to Percy as they were both interested to where their bickering would end up.
“That’s different.”
“How is that different?”
“It’s self-defence.”
“She isn’t allowed to touch the other players.” Nico said.
“How about both of you calm down?” Rachel proposed to her friends. Jasmine grasped their attention as she started pointing towards Bianca. “Yes, Jas. That’s Bee. Wave at your sis.” Rachel told to the stinky cute baby sitting on her. Jasmine started waving until she grabbed Bianca’s attention who waved back at her. Percy remembered his own baby and decided to go check on Annabeth.
He got off the stands and went to the grass area. “She’s still asleep?” He asked as he put his chin on Annabeth’s shoulder.
“Yes, she doesn’t do well with early mornings.”
“Go watch the game. I’ll watch her and the boys.” Percy kissed her cheek as he let her go.
“You’re the best.”
“I’ve been told before.” Percy smirked.
“By who?”
“My wife.”
Annabeth winked as she started walking away. “Your wife sounds like a keeper.”
“Oh she is. I am never letting her go.” Percy promised.
He turned his attention to the three boys sitting on the lawn, a few feet away from him. Theo was listening carefully while Ryder was talking enthusiastically about something that Percy couldn’t understand. Theo looked actually interested with what Ryder was saying which seemed a bit unusual as Theo dismissed 99% of the people that talked to him. I guess he liked that Ryder wasn’t pressing him to talk him like most kids their age did.
Then, Percy turned his attention to Charlie who was sprawled on the lawn playing on Annabeth’s iPad. “Bub? You’re good?”
“I am bored.” Charlie said as he closed the iPad. “Why should I come every week?”
“To support your sister. She comes to your games.” Percy said.
“If she doesn’t want to come, I won’t mind. Like they are obviously the better team. And they don’t even keep score.” Charlie argued.
“If they don’t keep score then how do you know that they are better?” He questioned his son who looked at him with the most ‘seriously now?’ Annabeth Chase expression in existence.
“I just know. And they aren’t even allowed to touch the other players. Where is the fun to that?”
“Not everyone likes Hockey, bub.”
“And they are wrong.”
“Don’t you like that we eat out after the game?”
“I guess the food is fine.” Charlie thought to himself. “And when I play for the Bruins I will want Zoe to come and see me play.”
Percy had heard Charlie say that he wanted to play hockey when he was older. He knew that it was one of the most common answers a kid gave to these questions, but Percy liked his enthusiasm about the sport. Bobby was fuelling to his son’s ambitions as he kept mentioning over and over again that his kid was NHL material. To which Annabeth reminded him that he was 6.
 “Bruins? Not the Rangers?”
“No, the Bruins. They’re a better team, dad.”
“You’re killing your old man. I hope you know it.” Percy joked.
“You aren’t that old.” Charlie replied. “And if they give me a million dollars I’ll play for the Rangers.”
“I’ll give you a million to play for the Rangers.”
“Deal. But I am not supporting them. I’m just going to play for them.”
“Enough for me, bub.” Then he turned his attention to Lana who was finally awake. When she realised she was noticed she immediately started reaching for him. Percy took her out of the stroller and on him. “Look at Zoe. How well she is playing.” He said to the little girl who was scanning her surroundings.
“Can I hold her?” Charlie asked as he put the iPad in Lana’s diaper bag.
“Yes, but you have to be careful.”
“No running or jumping.” He stated as Percy lowered Lana to his son’s arms. Lana squealed in delight as she realised Charlie was holding her. She loved her older brother, which reminded Percy to snap another picture of his kids.
“Dad, no more pictures.” Charlie replied annoyedly. “You have a gazillion pictures of us.”
“And I want a gazillion and one pictures of you. When you’re older you’re going to be glad that I was taking pictures of you.”
“They’re done.” Charlie said as he saw Annabeth and Zoe walking towards them.
“Excellent game, Zo.” Percy said as Zoe ran up to him. “You’re a talent. Show stopping.”
“Thanks, daddy.” Zoe smiled. “Can we go eat now? I’m hungry.”
“Absolutely.” Percy said as he motioned Theo and Ryder to come with them. A few moments later, Will, Nico, Rachel, Bianca and Jasmine came as well. “Are we ready to go?”
“Definitely.”

Boy troubles part 5
How Percy found out about Charlie and Bianca
Percy was proud of himself. Although he had 3 teenagers inside his house, he hadn’t caught any of them kissing or being too close with their boyfriend or girlfriend which would embarrass them. After Zoe and Charlie entered the phase in which everything their parents do is lame and annoying, Percy felt a bit self-conscious like he had to prove himself to a bunch of 12-year-olds. But like, nobody had ever prepared him to deal with teenagers. How was he supposed to talk to a teenager who liked to believe that he was wrong about everything? Even at his school, he was used to dealing with younger children until recently. Having twins going through puberty really helps you deal with the daily drama of the beautiful paradise straight from hell called Hell.
After tiptoeing around them for a few years he started relaxing again. Zoe was very open about who she was dating; guy or girl and she brought whoever she was with at her at home without telling anything to anyone. Charlie from the other hand was a puzzle. Percy had no idea if or who Charlie was with. Zoe would occasionally mention a name of the girl Charlie was with, but Percy lost count from a point onwards. It also didn’t help that Charlie wouldn’t talk at all if anyone dared to bring up his love life and Percy preferred rather than push him to just not address the matter at all. It wasn’t like it was his business. If Charlie was healthy and happy, he didn’t care what he was doing.
A month ago, Charlie had come to him for some advice, but after that Charlie was on radio silence again which to Percy’s mind meant that things hadn’t gone well for Charlie and his ‘mystery girl’. And once again Percy didn’t say a word about it.
He was proud of his perfect streak of being at the right place and the right time and not embarrassing his children unless he had to. Well, he enjoyed embarrassing them every once in a while, like being the parent who cheers the loudest in the stands for their kid. But like he had appreciated that Sally didn’t mention his sleepovers with Annabeth or the fact that they kept his door closed, he wanted to be the same way with his children.
It was 5 pm and he was in the kitchen preparing dinner for later. The house was mostly quiet except from Lana’s music blasting from her room. Zoe entered the kitchen through the back door after her track practise. “Hey, dad.” She greeted him as she took a banana from the counter and headed upstairs without uttering another word.
For the past few days she had been acting a bit strange and kept a distance from Charlie. When Annabeth tried to address the matter she admitted that nothing was going on, so they stopped asking as there was no point in pressuring her. After he let the food on the stove, Percy decided to take some of the folded and ironed laundry upstairs.
Theo was mostly unbothered by his presence as he was working on some equations that even looking at them fried Percy’s mind. Lana couldn’t even listen to him because of the loud music and Zoe took her stuff and resumed her homework.
He knocked Charlie’s door, but he didn’t get answer. He decided to just open the door. He was just studying with Bianca, so he wouldn’t really be interrupting anything. He opened the door, and before he could even process what was happening in front of him he gasped loudly, catching Charlie’s and Bianca’s attention. Who were making out on Charlie’s bed. “Dad! Knock the door.” Charlie said as he saw him in a frozen state by his doorframe.
“I knocked the door. I-“ his brain short wired and didn’t know how to react. He let the basket on the floor. “I should go.” He said and closed the door behind him.
Percy went back to the kitchen, and he winced as he realised that he gasped. He gasped. Like he could have reacted any other way, but he decided to gasp. “What happened? Why did you gasp?” Theo asked him from the banister.
“Nothing to worry about it.” Percy replied.
“It didn’t sound like it. Are you going to Target?” Theo questioned him.
“What do you need?”
“Whiteboard markers and M&Ms.”
“I have markers in the office.”
“I used all of them.”
“Then, I’ll go to Target.” Percy said and grabbed his car keys. As he entered the car, he texted the family group if anyone needed anything from Target. Half an hour later, he came back to the house and to his surprise Charlie was sitting on the kitchen island. He looked at him but didn’t say a word.
“Look. I know I shouldn’t have gasped.”
“You shouldn’t have.” Charlie replied.
“I’ll knock twice from now on.” Percy promised him, as he looked bothered by the fact that he was interrupted.
“Thank you.”
“So, are you dating?” He asked mostly out of curiosity.
“Yes, for a week now.” Charlie admitted. “I didn’t want to say anything because you would make a big deal out of it.”
“I wouldn’t make a big deal out of it.” Percy bragged as he sat across him. He caught himself staring at Charlie’s neck where a dark purple mark was there. A hickey.
“What? Why you stopped talking?” Charlie asked him, as Percy once again lost his colour. “Come on, dad. It’s just a hickey. It’s not the first time I’ve come with a hickey.”
“No, I’m totally cool. Like a river. Like the ocean. No problem. Everything is alright.” Percy reassured himself. He didn’t even know why he was so bothered. He liked Bianca a lot and Charlie had liked her for a long time. But he was frozen like his brain couldn’t function with the new information.
Charlie put his plate in the sink and turned to him. “I am going to go upstairs. When you stop freaking out over a hickey, you’ll know where to find me.” He pressed him on the shoulder and headed upstairs.
Zoe was sitting in the living room and Percy decided to join her. “How are you feeling about the whole Charlie-Bianca situation?”
“I’m fine. But if he dares to hurt her, I’ll have to hide a body.” Zoe mentioned.

Late night talking
How to get the girl part 4 is out
Percy was sitting in a stool in the kitchen island grading some 5th grade history essays. It was 2 am, but he wanted to correct as many as possible before Monday. He also knew that Zoe and Charlie had gone to a party, so it wouldn’t hurt to be awake in case something came up and they needed help. But after they had gotten their driver’s licence, he started feeling a bit useless. Was that how his mum felt after he started being more self-sufficient. As he poured himself some Earl Grey (Annabeth’s favourite tea) he heard the front door opening. Percy waited to see who it was.
Charlie came into the kitchen, letting his keys on the counter. “Hey.”
“How was the party?”
“It was good. Zoe is sleeping with the girls on the team.” He informed him.
Percy could tell that something was up, from the way Charlie was looking at him. “Is something wrong, bub?”
“No, everything is alright.” Charlie said as he sat on the kitchen island across from Percy. He had to raise the stool as he was the tallest in their family and had even surpassed Percy last year at 6’5. “But can we talk?”
“Sure. What’s up?” Percy was used to his children coming to him for advice. He and Annabeth tried to be open with them and give them answers to their questions. He wanted his kids to trust him enough to call him in case they were in danger, and not afraid of how he’d react.
“I want some advice on something that’s been bothering me for a while now.” His son confessed. Charlie looked hesitant like he was regretting bringing up the subject.
“If you don’t feel comfortable, we don’t need to talk about it.”
“No, it’s fine. Don’t worry. I just don’t know how to say it.”
“Take your time. I’m waiting for you.” Percy really meant it. For a while, he thought that his relationship with Charlie would never get better, after they spent some time fighting over nothing. It had really put a strain in their relationship and the distance between them, had harmed him. Last year, Charlie started opening up to him again. Inviting him to his practises, going to games and spending time together. He had really missed being let in Charlie’s life and he was going to do everything in his power so that he could continue being a person Charlie could rely on.
“I like this girl. And I don’t know what to do.” He finally confessed.
“Have you tried talking to her?”
“I can’t just go talk to her,” Charlie replied mortified.
“No? I thought to date you have to talk.” Percy mostly joked.
“Dad. I’m serious. We’re talking. Like every day. But I don’t know how to ask her out. She’s going through something right now and I don’t want to complicate things between us.”
He looked at his son as he had an idea of who the mystery girl was. Everyone with a pair of working eyes, knew who Charlie liked. “What is she like?”
“I am not going to describe my crush to you. I am not five.”
“Ouch. You’re too adult for me.”
“Haha. Very funny.” Charlie took a cookie from the counter. “She’s cool and I like hanging out with her. But she has very high standards. And I don’t want to screw our friendship. She’s beautiful and so talented. I honestly don’t feel enough for her and she deserves the world. She has had some awful boyfriends who just wanted-” Charlie cut himself so he could censor the conversation. “You know. And I’m an idiot who likes her and I don’t know what to do about it.”
“Has she ever given you the impression that she might like you?”
He ran his fingers through his hair. “I don’t know. Maybe. She is always very friendly to me. I know that she likes me like a friend, but I don’t know beyond that point.”
“My advice is to go talk to her. Let her know how you feel before it’s too late.” Percy told him.
“Talking from experience?” He snickered.
“Definitely. Just grab the opportunity when it comes. You might get surprised.”
“But I don’t want to get turned down. I prefer to just be friends with her if asking her out means to risk our friendship. And I have never asked someone out.” Charlie confessed.
“What? But you’ve had girlfriends before.” Percy said as he was perplexed on what Charlie had to say. He had definitely seen Charlie dating or having over girls for other purposes than being friends.
“I don’t know. They just throw themselves at me.” He winced as he realised what he said. “Just a bit too much?”
“I think so, bub.” Percy replied trying his best not to laugh. Not in mockery, but how funny it seemed that Charlie who always seemed so calm and confident was anxious over asking someone out. He was one of the famous kids at school -which Percy had no idea how it felt-, star of the hockey team and on top of everything was a top student. And yet, he didn’t know how to ask a girl on a date.
“What I am trying to say, I never had to go up to a girl and ask her out. So, I don’t know how to do it, and I don’t want to screw anything up with her. It’s just different.”
“You really care about her, don’t you?”
“I really do.” He promised. “So, do you have any wise words for me?”
“Spend some time alone with her. Not on a date especially, just so you can talk. Then ask her out. I assure you everything is going to be alright. Especially if she cares about you, the same way you feel about her.” Percy put a hand on his shoulder. “Have I ever lied to you?”
“No.” Charlie lowered his gaze. “But it’s just, feelings aren’t really my thing. I’m too how do we say it?”
“Headstrong? Hot-tempered? A bundle of emotions?”
“Yes, all of that it’s true. I have a problem with not feeling too much. And I don’t want to deal with the rejection.” He confessed.
“Well, you’re almost 17. You have to experience heartache and rejection.”
“Heartache? Since when this conversation became a romantic comedy?” Charlie joked. “But I’ll try do what you said. And I’m going to blame you if things go wrong.”
“I’ll accept the blame.” Percy laughed as Charlie got off the stool. “And one more thing.”
“Yes?”
“Don’t give up on her. I’ve never heard you talking about someone the way you do about her.” Percy could tell that Charlie got a bit flustered, but he knew better than to comment on that.
“Okay. I’ll try my best.”

What about children?
It was the 1st day of Percy and Annabeth’s honeymoon. They were spending the first three days of their month away in Athens, and from there a yacht was waiting for them at Piraeus port. The day before they had caught the sun setting from Lykabetus mountain and after that they had dinner and spent the rest of their evening locked in their hotel room.
They woke up in each other’s arms. Outside was hot and humid but thankfully their room was fully airconditioned. They hadn’t spent much time together in the past few months between Annabeth’s studies and Percy’s training, so it felt amazing staying together for a whole month without any distractions. As Annabeth turned to her side to face Percy he was already awake looking at the view from their room. “Good morning.” She whispered as she laid her head on his chest.
“How did you sleep?” He asked her in return as he played with one of her curls.
“Very well. I think we should move here. I’ve never slept this well in my life.”
“I think it has to do more with me exhausting you before bed, than Athens itself.”
“That might be it.”
“I have something for you.” Percy said as he reached to his bedside table. He had on it a jewellery box that Annabeth hadn’t noticed until that point. With one hand, he managed to open the box to reveal its content to Annabeth. “Percy, they’re gorgeous.” She sat up so she could take a better look to the pearl earrings and necklace in front of her. “Thank you so much.” She said and kissed him.
“They used to belong to Andromeda. Perseus had given them to her. It’s our good luck juju.” He replied.
“Where did you find them?”
“My dad gave them to me.”
“Oh.” Annabeth said like she snapped back to their reality. “He came to the wedding?”
“Just for five minutes.” Percy tried to soothe her. He was sure what was happening in Annabeth’s mind. How she felt about her mum not showing up to the wedding. Even though they had adopted a no-God policy, Annabeth wanted Athena to show up for her. “He just gave me the jewellery and then left.”
“Why didn’t my mum show up?” Annabeth asked him and regretted those words the moment they came out of her mouth. “I shouldn’t be asking you this.”
“Annabeth-“
“I’m asking for too much at the moment. Without her, I wouldn’t even be alive right now.”
Percy had his opinions about his wife’s mother, but he wasn’t going to voice any of them as he would probably be cursed for the rest of his life. “You aren’t asking for too much. It’s normal that you wanted your mother to show up to your wedding. I get it. It’s reasonable, but I guess the voice of reason hasn’t found its way with the Greek Pantheon yet. And you Annabeth Chase would be alive with or without your mother’s help. You’re the most intelligent person I know, so it shouldn’t be even crossing your mind that you wouldn’t have found your way out of the darkness.”
Especially when your mother was the reason you fell into Tartarus on the first place.
Annabeth stared lovingly at her husband’s side. “I’m so lucky to have you.”
“I got the best out of our deal.” Percy smirked. “How about I order us some breakfast and then go and try the private pool with the amazing view?” He suggested.
“You want to do laps?”
“Not exactly what I have in mind to do.”
Annabeth couldn’t help but smile as she realised her husband’s intentions. “Would you rather do your wife? With the expensive Parthenon view that my dad paid for?”
“Yeap.” Percy said popping the p as he got out of bed to order their breakfast.
“You’re hopeless.”
“I know, love.” He raised his hand so she could see it, “But you married me, so you are stuck with me.”
Annabeth shouldn’t have let Percy order as he had brought into their room the entire menu. They were sitting in their balcony Percy just in his boxers while she was wearing a satin robe that was a part of her bridal lingerie. “My dad is getting divorced.” She announced.
“Did Bobby and Matthew tell you?” He asked her.
“What? No, my dad told me before the wedding. The boys don’t know anything.”
“Believe me, they know. After you went upstairs after the rehearsal dinner they told me everything. It was the reason Helen was acting all weird. I would have told you sooner, but they begged me not to. So, it’s definitive?”
“That’s what I gathered. He doesn’t trust her anymore. After fully comprehending what me running away really meant. He’s planning on moving back to the East Coast.”
“Good for him. We’ll probably see him more around.” Percy added.
“I think that was one of his reasons. You know, we are getting older, and he probably wants to be around when we have kids.” Annabeth said as she ate a bit of her bacon.
“Do you want children? I mean we have talked about it before, but we haven’t sat down and had a serious discussion about it.”
“You mean now? Or in the future?” She asked.
Annabeth didn’t know how she felt about the whole having children situation. She didn’t hate children, but she never saw herself as a mother. Maybe the fact that she grew up without hers might have played its part. She also was sure she would be too cynical to make a good mother or to make a connection with her baby. And her biggest fear was for her children to hate her. But maybe it was just the fact that she never pictured children in her ideal life. Usually, it was just herself, Percy, a lot of travelling and architecture. Although, having a mini Percy didn’t sound like a bad idea to her.
“I don’t know. I guess whatever you want. You are going to sacrifice a lot more than me. It’s more your decision than mine.” Percy replied. Annabeth was grateful that Percy was calm about the subject. She knew that he wanted children and to have a very loud family with Annabeth.
“I haven’t thought much about having children. My career just started. I mean we’re straight out of college.” She chuckled. “And I am not sure the timing is right for me at the moment.”
“I’m totally on your side.” Percy said.
“Really?”
“Of course. You’re still in college and if I make the team, I will be away to train for the next year at least. And if I do as well as I did last time, there will be a lot of travelling which will leave you alone with a baby. And that’s not the way I want to have a family with you.”
“Percy, it’s most likely that for the next 10 years you will be travelling and training day and night. I didn’t mean to wait that long. Maybe for another two or three years. We are still young, and we have our whole life ahead of us. There is no point to rush.” She replied. “It’s a huge responsibility to bring another human being to this planet. I had an awful childhood. I wouldn’t wish that way of growing up to anyone.” She got a little sidetracked as Percy intertwined his fingers with hers, “I also have my PhD going on. I am finishing next year so maybe in a couple years I will be ready.”
“I completely understand, and I agree. You are a better thinker than me. I just know that all I have to do is trust you.” Percy smiled. “I also know that settling down and having children isn’t your ideal life. And I am cool with it. I have always known it.”
“It’s not that I don’t want children.”
“I know. But you wouldn’t mind it if we never had any and just spent the rest of my lives on our own. But you are the one who will have to carry the baby, take the maternity leave and sacrifice energy that even if I never let you to even lift a finger, you’ll still be exhausted. I can’t just force you to drop everything you have going on and have kids.”
Annabeth was touched, by the way Percy was talking to her. Well, she knew that the two of them never had any communication issues, but it was nice that even on the subject of children, they were still on the same page. “We are going to have children. But I need time to wrap my thoughts around it. We are going to be awesome parents. But the timing needs to be good. You’re right about children not always being in my life plans, but we are a team. And there is no doubt that I’ll love them more than life itself when they are born. It won’t be a burden for me. Neither the pregnancy nor the after part. I will do it because I want to do it, not because you want to. Believe me, watching you become a father is on top of my to-do list. Just not at 22.” Annabeth smiled.
Percy put her on his lap. “Our kids will be so lucky to have you as their mother.”

Wildest Dreams is a break up song you fucking dumbass. She has actual love songs on 1989 that you could have used? Or are you too stupid to do any actual research?
I wasn’t going to answer to this but it just seems so funny that you took the time to write a whole ask about it. First of all, I said that Annabeth’s favourite songs from 1989 were ‘this Love’ and ‘Wildest Dreams’. Not that they are her favourite love songs. And for that scene I just felt that it suited it. Secondly, I am a top listener of Taylor Swift since I was 9, I’ve been to the 1989 and Reputation tour and for the past 3 years I am on her top 0.05% on Spotify. Thirdly, If you think that I am too stupid to do any research maybe you shouldn’t just read my work? Like I’m here for the vibes. And the scene from TSITP really summarises the way I feel about Percabeth. And their wedding song isn’t Wildest Dreams, but This love.

I would do it over and over again
While I was writing this, things got a bit out of hand (Taylor Swift showed up?)
Percy and Annabeth had finally gotten married. After taking a thousand pictures with everyone they were ready to head to the reception. The venue was already filled with people, which roared with cheers when Percy and Annabeth came inside and sat at their seats.
Annabeth realised how Percy was soaking every tiny detail from their wedding which made her love him a little bit more. “You know,” she said quietly enough so only he could listen to her, “I can officially call you my husband now.”
“Is that so, wife?” Percy replied.
“Oh yes, and I’m going to use your new title all the time.”
“That works just fine with me.” He took her hand and kissed it softly before resting his, on her thigh. “Let everyone know that I’m only yours.”
“Stop saying things like that because I am not going to make it.” She told him in all seriousness as he was so hot and good looking that she was trying her hardest to not ditch their wedding reception.
The dinner was just as amazing as the one in the rehearsal dinner and the open bar seemed to be a hit with their guests. Before they even understood it, it was time for the speeches.
“Is it on?” Grover asked as he cautiously spoke to the microphone which then echoed through the speakers. “I guess it’s working.” He laughed. “For those who don’t know me, I’m Grover and I’m the best man tonight. I’ve known Annabeth since she was 7 and Percy since he was 12. Needless to say, I’m so proud of being able to stand here and watch my two best friends getting married and having the chance to grow old together. If you had told me 10 years ago that they would get married I would have laughed at your face. The first summer we had spent together I had to put up with their constant fighting. Which at the end of the day, decided to call old married couple fighting.” A few people laughed with this bit. “I can go on and on about how amazing and generous and smart and charismatic people Percy and Annabeth, but I gather from all of you being today here that you know their endless good qualities. All I can say is that I’m glad that despite what they’ve been through they can finally take a breath and live the life they deserve.” After he was done speaking, he quickly hugged them both before sitting down.
Rachel was up next. She was wearing a sapphire blue dress like the rest of the bridesmaids. “I’m Rachel and Annabeth’s maid of honour. Although Percy and I have been friends since we were 15, Annabeth and I didn’t start our relationship on a good note. But after being flatmates in college and neighbours since she and Percy moved back to New York, I can’t deny that I consider Annabeth one of my closest friends. I only wish those 3 years that we weren’t speaking to each other we had given us a chance so that I wouldn’t have missed to the gift that is Annabeth’s friendship. Just like Grover, I am not going to talk about how amazing they are, because I won’t be able to stop talking. That’s why I’m going to tell you a story. About the moment I knew that Percy and Annabeth were meant for each other. It was the summer after our senior year. I was in the same class as Percy whilst Annabeth was spending her senior year in San Francisco. We were sitting in my car and Percy turned to me and said, “I’m going to get married to Annabeth one day.” And then he went in with detail to support his argument. I swear I’ve never someone so head over heels as Percy was that day. He then described how he imagined their wedding day, which he again described with extensive details. I’m glad Percy and Annabeth found each other and while being a close couple having their own space to grow as individuals and accomplish all of their dreams and goals.” Rachel paused and looked around the room like she was searching for someone. “Now, that the speeches part of the reception is over I would like to call Percy and Annabeth for their first dance.” Annabeth was sure she saw Rachel trying to contain her excitement. “And I would also like to welcome tonight’s special guest which is no other than 12 times Grammy award winner, Taylor Swift.”
Annabeth was pretty sure that Rachel was joking until she saw Percy’s expression the moment Taylor Swift went to the piano and sat down. She turned to Rachel who just blew her a kiss.
“Hey everybody! I’m Taylor and although I don’t know Percy and Annabeth personally from what Will has told me about them I’m excited to be able to perform their wedding song. This one is from my latest album. I hope you all enjoy it.”
Annabeth was shocked, but she put her hands on Percy’s shoulders as he placed on her waist and pulled her closer to him. Taylor started playing the piano. “Clear blue water, high tide came and brought you in.”
This love was Annabeth’s favourite song from 1989 along with Wildest Dreams. And Taylor freaking Swift was playing it at her wedding. She locked her eyes with Percy’s and she swore she’d never been so in love with him. He was the person who had stayed when everyone else had abandoned her. “Best day of my life.” She whispered to his ear.
“Then, I’m excited to give you even better ones.” He said and kissed her softly that made everyone cheer and clap. By the time Taylor ended the song she was a pool of emotions.
“I hope you all have fun tonight. Thank you!” Taylor said as she went to the back room. Rachel motioned them to come inside. Percy smiled and literally sprinted while holding Annabeth’s hand.
“How?” Was all Annabeth could say when she saw Nico standing outside the door along with three bodyguards that she hadn’t noticed until that point.
“Go ask Mr Nepo baby inside.” Nico replied. “Congratulations, by the way.” He opened the door.
Taylor was sitting at the vanity while Will was sitting on the couch having casual conversation with her. “Percy, Annabeth, did you like your wedding present?” Will asked them.
“Of course!” Percy replied before Annabeth even got the chance. “I’m a huge fun ever since your debut album.” He gushed.
“Will told me.” Taylor said as she came closer to them. “When Will called me to sing tonight I wasn’t sure, but after he sent me a video of the two of you in the tour last spring I was convinced.”
Percy was too stunned to speak. “Thank you so much for coming. It means the world to us. Your music has really inspired me.”
“I’m glad, Annabeth. I have to go now.” She hugged them both goodbye and Annabeth was about to explode. “Will, expect my call later this week.” Taylor said and left from the back door.
“How are you on a first name basis with Taylor Swift?” Percy uttered after she was gone.
“My mum worked with her during her first album. And our families are close. We spent our summer holidays together.” Will said like it was the most casual thing.
“And you never thought to mention it?”
“Did you ask me?” He questioned them. “Plus, I thought me sitting next to Andrea at the 1989 tour was enough.”
“How are we ever going to thank you enough?” Annabeth asked him.
“Like I said, it’s a wedding gift. So, stay married and happy. That’s enough.” Will replied.
By the time they got back outside, everyone was dancing to the music. Evelyn came and dragged Annabeth with her. Percy was about to join their friends until he saw a guest standing at the back. He slowly made his way back there, mostly unnoticed by them.
“No Hawaiian t-shirt today?” Percy asked his father.
“Percy, I-“ Poseidon cleared his throat. “Congratulations. I’m proud of you. You and Annabeth make a lovely couple.”
“Thanks, dad.” Percy said feeling a bit awkward. “I’m glad you came. I didn’t know if I should have sent you an invitation or something. I guessed that if you wanted, you’d show up. And you did.”
“You’re my son. And although I’ve never been there for you, I promise that I love you very much. I have something for you. Consider it a benevolent gesture.” Poseidon took out of his pocket a small box and handed it to Percy. “Andromeda’s pearls. Straight from my treasure at the palace.”
Percy opened the box and saw a pair of pearl earrings along with pearl necklace. “Dad, I don’t know what to say.”
“Don’t say anything. Give them to Annabeth.” Poseidon said to his son. “Perseus and Andromeda had a long and happy life together. I hope you and Annabeth end up the same way.” He took out his hand for Percy to shake, but Percy pulled him in a hug instead.
“Thank you.”
“No, thank you, son. Now, I have to go before anyone else notices me. We had orders to not show up, but I don’t remember the last time I cared about my brother’s opinion. Have a great honeymoon.” Poseidon said before he evaporated.
Percy put the box in his pocket and went to where Nico was sitting, smoking a cigarette. “Hey, is anyone sitting here?”
Nico blew some smoke before putting the remains to the ashtray. “No, I came to smoke while Will was with Connor and Malcolm. He hates and I quote when I destroy my lungs.”
“He isn’t wrong, you know.” Percy said.
“It’ll be fine. Congratulations, on getting married. I was rooting for you.” He mentioned.
“Thanks. So, what’s up with you. You don’t answer the phone enough.”
“I’m working on it. But I’m too busy with my mad academia at the moment. College is a bitch.” Nico stated as he lit another cigarette.
“You had to be overachieving and go to Stanford.” Percy smiled.
“Will’s nerdiness is rubbing off me. He’s 19 and a second year medical student. Do you know how many people do that? Nobody. Only my himbo.” Nico said in all seriousness. “But it’s nice being close to Hazel and Reyna after everything. And it’s nice knowing I won’t be in student debt.”
Percy knew that after his 18th birthday, Nico had access to his family’s trust fund and as the last survivor he had a vast wealth in his hands and even though he rarely brought it up, Percy guessed that it was a big sum. Nico had grown to be one of Percy’s favourite people. A little beaten up and bruised, but it wasn’t like the rest of them weren’t. “So, Classics degree. And then?”
“No idea. Like nada. Nothing. My brain is empty. I might go to law school. Or teach classics. We’ll see. The night is still young.” He pulled up his sleeves as it started getting very warm and humid. Percy noticed a new tattoo to his ever growing collection. “New?” he said and pointed at the skull that read inside ‘to be; to not be.’ Nico had gotten a lot of tattoos for which he got scolded by Reyna. That didn’t really phase him as he had also gotten a septum and every time Percy saw him, he had another tattoo. Just like the one in front of him.
“Yes, I got it last week. Does it satisfy your Shakespearean cravings?”
“You know very well that I don’t like Shakespeare that much. But the tattoo is nice. It suits you.” Percy complimented him. “What are you going to do when you run out of space for more tattoos?”
“My left arm is still untouched. And I’m keeping it until I have kids.”
“You want kids?”
“Not right now. In a few years. I guess. It’s not like we have talked about it with Will. We’re still kids. And I still have a lot of shit to figure out.” Nico explained. “How about you? Should I expect baby Jackson in the next year?”
“Nope. Annabeth and I agreed to wait until she’s done with her doctorate and after the Olympics. If I make the cut.”
“You’re going to make the cut, and I’ll show up cheering you.” He said half-joking. Percy wasn’t really sure when Nico was being sarcastic or not.
“I’ll be waiting for you.”
“And I’ll be there.” Nico said and stood up. “I’ll go check on Reyna. It was nice talking to you.”
Percy made his way back to Annabeth. “Hey, Perce.” Annabeth kissed him and dragged him to the table where she was having drinks with Susannah and Samantha. He noticed Evelyn was missing, but he quickly found her giggling to something Ethan, his friend from the swim team was saying. “I missed you.” She pouted as she took another Manhattan from the bar that was next to her.
“I missed you too, darling.” Percy said as he downed a gin and tonic. “How much did you drink?”
“Just two Margaritas and a few shots.” She smiled which was Percy’s cue that she was getting drunk. He wasn’t doing well either, as by the time Style started playing he was dancing with Annabeth while Rachel and Evelyn were yelling the lyrics. His jacket was sent up to their room and his sleeves were up his elbow with his tie lost somewhere. But the adrenaline of being this close to Annabeth knowing he wouldn’t get married to her again was enough to keep him upright.
Before they even realised it, the DJ called them to the dance floor for their last dance which was ‘forever young’ by Alphaville. “I love you so much.” Percy said and kissed her shoulder softly. “I can’t wait to have a lifetime of adventures with you.”

Have I known you twenty seconds or twenty years?
Annabeth ended up falling asleep in the same bed with Rachel. She woke up before everyone else. She started twisting her engagement ring and thought that in a few hours she was going to get married to Percy. Damn it, she loved him too much. She pressed her phone screen and saw that it was only 5:30 am. But after sleeping next to Percy who woke at 5 to practise and go to the gym, her body wasn’t used to extra sleep time. She smiled at her lock screen; it was the picture she had taken with Percy after he had finished his first swimming competition in college (in which he had won 7 medals and broke three records).
She also had a picture with them at the Olympics where he had his 4 medals around his neck, but she loved her current lock screen even more. There was something so innocent about the two of them in college that meant too much to her. Just a year after they had defeated Gaea and they were terrified to leave each other. 4 years later, Percy was going back to the Olympics, and she had a well paying job as an architect while she was working on her Doctorate in Columbia. And most importantly they were getting married.
The sound of a text message made her lose her train of thought. She expected a good morning text from Percy, but she was surprised by one coming from Sally.
Sally: I’m sorry about not being able to talk to you last night. I was hoping that you had a few minutes before the ceremony so that the two of us could talk. Also, sorry for texting you this early, but I wanted to make sure you got the message early on.
Annabeth immediately responded to her
Annabeth: Whenever you have the time. If you don’t have anything to do, we can have early walk down the beach.
Sally: I hope I didn’t wake you up.
Sally: I’ll be by your room in 15 minutes.
Annabeth: Alright, I’ll be waiting for you.
Annabeth got out of bed and went quietly to the bathroom. After washing her face and putting her hair in a messy bun, she put some sweats and a t-shirt she was positive was Percy’s before making her way outside. Right on time, Sally showed up with two cups of coffee.
“Again, I’m sorry for texting you so early.” Sally excused herself as they got outside.
“Don’t worry. I was already awake.” Annabeth smiled. “You can text me whenever you want. That’s what families do, isn’t it?”
Annabeth considered Sally Jackson her mother more than Athena despite what Biology had to say. That woman had taken her in her house and taught her what a family was supposed to be like.
“It is, my darling girl.” Sally smiled. “How are you feeling?”
“A bit nervous, but I’m sure everything is going to be fine.”
“Your wedding is going to be exactly as you wished it to be. You and Percy are incredibly lucky.” Sally said.
“Sally-“ Annabeth wanted to deny, but she wouldn’t let her.
“You’re lucky because you managed to survive all the things that were imposed to you and through all this chaos found each other. So, yes. To my eyes you are incredibly lucky. And I’m even luckier to gain a daughter like you.” Sally said and held Annabeth’s hands. Annabeth felt her eyes watering. Her words meant a lot to her, even though she could never fully grasp her feelings about her.
“Sally, thank you for everything.”
“You don’t have to thank me for anything, honey.”
Annabeth was definitely going to cry. “Thank you for taking me in your house and thank you for raising Percy to be the man he is today.”
“Oh, Annabeth!” Sally pulled her in a tight hug, Annabeth didn’t even know she needed. “I love you so much, sweetheart. My son is the lucky one for founding someone so amazing as you.” As she stopped hugging her, she brushed her tears away. “We aren’t going to cry today. Today is a happy day, and we’re going to keep it that way.”
“These are happy tears.” Annabeth laughed as she wiped them away.
“That wasn’t all I wanted to talk to you about. I have a present for you.” Sally said as she presented Annabeth a velvet pouch. “It used to be my mother’s and it’s one of the last things of her that I have. Estelle was named after her.”
Annabeth was so touched by the act, “Sally no, Estelle should have it.”
“I have kept other things for Estelle to have. This one is for you.” Sally reassured her.
She opened the pouch, and she took in her hands a gold chained bracelet with sapphires and emeralds. She felt her eyes watering again. Sally unclasped it and helped her put it on. “They are real, you know. It was my father’s gift to my mother on their wedding. My uncle was positive that it belonged to my father’s mother. And now it’s all yours.” She smiled softly
“It’s beautiful. Sally, I can’t thank you enough. I promise I’m going to look after it.” Annabeth promised.
“We should head back now. Rachel will be looking for you.” Sally said. After they hugged goodbye, Annabeth entered the wedding suite which was filled with her friends as the caterers had brought breakfast.
“Found her!” Piper shouted as she noticed Annabeth entering. “We thought you and Percy ran away to elope.” Then her eyes fell on the bracelet, “The bracelet is beautiful. Where did you find it?”
“Sally gave it to me. It used to be her mother’s.” Annabeth mentioned.
“That’s so sweet and thoughtful. You really have the best mother-in-law.”
“I won the jackpot.” Annabeth smiled.
After they had a quick breakfast, the makeup artist and hair stylist arrived, and everyone started getting ready. “Nico just texted me.” Rachel said as she sat in the chair next to Annabeth’s. “Will is here with one of their wedding gifts. Whatever that’s supposed to mean.” She said. “You should be honoured Will dropped his studying to grace you with his presence.” Rachel joked. It was no secret that after Will started college at 16, he wasn’t going to let anything get in his way. And Annabeth highly appreciated that as she was the same way. It did mean a lot to her that he was willing to sacrifice two days to come to their wedding.
“What does he mean wedding gifts?”
“You’re going to find out.” Rachel said not able to contain her excitement.
“You know what it is, don’t you?”
“Yes, I do. And you’re going to lose your shit.” She reassured her.
They were officially an hour away from their wedding. Annabeth couldn’t wait. She had put on her wedding dress. It was a white lace mermaid gown. It was open at the back, and it was filled tiny diamonds. She had kept her make-up minimal and let the hairstylist do whatever she wanted with her hair as she didn’t have any preferences. She ended up doing a half up and down style and curling more her hair.
After she was done getting ready, Grover came inside the room. "You look amazing. I can’t believe you and Percy are getting married" he smiled.
“Me neither.” Annabeth exclaimed. “Thank you for coming today. It means a lot to me and a whole lot more to Percy.”
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Grover hugged her.
“How is the groom doing?” Rachel asked.
“He is waiting for his bride.”
“Let’s keep him waiting for a few more minutes.” Evelyn said.
“Wow, Annabeth. You’re beautiful.” Frederick said as he saw his daughter all dressed up in her wedding dress.
Annabeth had decided to let Frederick walk her down the aisle as they wanted Chiron to officiate their wedding. She also believed that they were in the phase where he could be there for her as long as she would let him. Her psychologist had encouraged her to open up more to him as he didn’t have any malicious intentions and he was working on their relationship.
“How about we let Annabeth have a moment with her dad, until we all get downstairs?” Piper suggested and Annabeth gave her a grateful look. Soon enough the room was empty.
“I’m proud of you, Annabeth.” Frederick said tenderly. “And I’m thankful that you gave me the chance to be next to you at your wedding. It means the world to me.”
“I’m glad we could work on our differences.” Annabeth replied. “You proved that actions speak louder than words. You made it possible for you to be here today.” She noted.
Frederick held her close, and Annabeth couldn’t deny that it felt good. Her five-year-old self would be sobbing with relief. Her 13-year-old self would be proud for daring to trust this man again. And her 17-year-old self would have a huge relieved from her shoulders as she had healed their relationship. “I’m sorry for everything, sweetheart. I wish I could turn back time and make it right to you.”
“Then, I wouldn’t be who I am today.” She exclaimed. “I wouldn’t change anything, dad. We both needed space and time.”
“I want you to know that by the end of the summer, Helen and I will be divorced. And I’ll move back at the east coast. Probably back to Boston.”
“Dad-“
“I should have done it a long time ago. And now that the boys are old enough I’ll do it.”
“Are you doing it for yourself?” She asked.
“Yes, I need this, Annabeth.”
“Then, I’m 100% on your side.” She smiled.
“Thank you. Now, less talking about me and more about you. We should head downstairs. Percy is waiting for you.”
Percy was waiting for the coordinator or Rachel or anyone really to give him the thumbs up to go at the end of the aisle. He was trying to fix his bow tied which seemed crooked to him. He had kicked everyone outside as he was trying to fully comprehend that in 10 minutes he was going to get married to Annabeth. He was ready to give up on the bow tie when he noticed that Sally was staring at him. “Need any help?” She asked.
“Maybe.” Percy replied smiling. Sally came closer and helped him tie it. He was trying to contain his emotions, but looking at his mum helping him with watery eyes wasn’t doing him any favours.
“Here. You’re all set.” Sally said as she straightened his tux. “I’m so proud of you, Percy. How far you’ve come.” Percy noticed a tear rolling on her cheek.
“Mum, don’t cry, please.”
“I’m sorry.” She sighed trying to compose herself. “It’s just ever since I found out I was pregnant the only thought in my mind was how to make everything right for my sweet baby boy who didn’t do a single thing wrong in his life. And watching you all grown up, ready to get married makes me feel relieved. I wasn’t able to give you the life you deserved and still, you’re standing here and I’m so immensely proud of you.”
“You did an excellent job raising me. You couldn’t have done it any better. You’re a saint, mum. You’re the real hero around here. You’re my hero. And I knew it then and I know it now, that I have the best mum in the world.” Percy said and hugged her. “I can never thank you enough for everything.”
“I’m your mum. You aren’t supposed to thank me.”
“Believe me, I have to.” He reassured her.
Grover cleared his throat. “They’re ready for us.” He smiled.
“Let’s get this wedding started then.” Percy replied and sorted the room with Sally next to him.
"I'm pumped!" Connor said as Percy walked to the garden with his mum. It was filled with their friends and families. He felt extremely grateful about everything that was happening to him.
The bridal party started walking down the aisle. Estelle -being the flower girl- followed them, and then, oh and then he saw Annabeth. Looking so beautiful, so ethereal like a goddess. If love was a person it would be her. “Do you need a tissue?” Travis whispered him, “You’re full sobbing here.”
Frank patted him on the shoulder “Don’t listen to them, you’re doing great. Eyes on her.” Like he could ever stop staring at her.
By the time she reached the end of the aisle, Percy was really sure he had a stupid grin on his face. “Hey, stranger.” Annabeth said as she stood across from him.
Chiron was staring proudly at the two of them. Kudos to Piper for helping him get the officiating licence. "I have the honour to officiate the wedding of two of my favourite students. When they met 12 years ago, bets started around in camp when they would get together. I was the one who guessed the time they would get together." Some of the guests laughed. "Percy and Annabeth are a couple like no other. You complete each other and love and care about each other in a way I haven’t seen in a long time. Plato said that people once had 4 arms, 4 legs, two faces and two minds. Then, the Gods decided to divide humans as they were too powerful together. The half is searching for its pair in order to feel complete. That’s what soulmates meant in Ancient Greece. That’s for me a perfect way to summarize your relationship. Soulmates, two halves that found each other and feel whole again. As I do not want to bore you, I think it is the time for the bride and the groom to turn to speak." Chiron said. He looked like he was ready to cry.
Annabeth gave her bouquet to Piper and turned to Percy. "Since the day I first met you, when I told you, that you drooled in your sleep, I fell in love with you. I didn’t really know what love was back then, but now I know that that was it. You are the best part of my life. You are not only my soulmate but my best friend and my partner in crime in everything. You are amazing and I prefer to die than live in a world without you. I love you Seaweed brain and from the very first moment together I knew that you would be forever mine. The 8 months you were away from me, I felt so empty and that is when I realized that I could never ever in a million years find someone to settle down with, except for you. You give my life a whole different meaning and I want to grow old more than anything else in this life. I need a lifetime of adventures with you."
Percy was again crying, but he did a great job from keeping his tears from coming out. Annabeth had her way with words. But he had to say his vows, so he took a deep breath and tried to concentrate.
"Annabeth from when you found me half dead in the borders of the camp, I thought you were something more than pretty. You are fun and smart and what I am trying to say is that I love you more than life itself. You’re my oxygen and I can’t breathe without you. I hope you will be mine until the end of our lives. I am so happy that a woman like you accepted to spend the rest of her life with someone like me. There is not a lot for me to say about you, because I do not even know where to begin and where to end. The point is that I love you and I will never stop loving you. I don’t believe I could ever be happier, than today, standing here promising to always love and cherish every moment with you. I always knew I was going to marry you. You were so perfect and even when you hated me, I was so stupidly and irrevocably in love with you. Every time I tell myself that there is no way I’ll love you even more, I find out I can. And I will never be able to stop loving you more and more. I love you Annabeth and I’m always going to."
"By the power given to me by the State of New York, I pronounce you Husband and Wife; you may kiss the bride." Chiron said, and Percy kissed Annabeth. With the same passion, they had when they shared their first kiss. With the same passion Percy was planning on kissing her for the rest of their lives.
