A few years ago we planted 400 + daffodils … we waited and held our breath. Now every year in spring these happy little flowers pop up and bring such joy and happiness. It was a lot of work to plant them all, but worth every second … snowdrops next … 🥰😃
Our radishes were such a success last year, with us using the leaves, as well as the roots for the first time. The peppery leaves were a lovely addition to salads and burgers … and my kids absolutely loved them. So I’m off to plant some more … yum 😋 🌱
I’m finally updating our wee craft shop. It’s been a while, but I’m excited to get started again. First up … we only have two of our little polymer clay chickens left - one white and one brown. Complete with a wee swing, they make a really pretty decoration.
Handmade with love, and both looking for a new home … check out the link in our bio to visit our shop … 👋🐔
For anyone hoping to grow potatoes for the first time, I thought this article might be helpful. It’s well written and easy for the beginner gardener to understand … good luck and hope it helps.🤞 😃
We’re sprouting / chitting our maincrop potatoes before planting, just to give them a bit of a head start. This year we’re trying egg boxes and are really happy with how things are going so far. It’s really easy, just arrange your seed potatoes in the egg boxes and make sure the eyes face upwards. Then leave them in a cool light place, that’s frost free (10 degrees ish), and wait for the sprouts to appear.
You’ll want to do this about 4 to 6 weeks before planting. I’m so impatient, I can’t wait to get them in the ground. It’s so nice to be thinking about the garden again … I love spring. 😃
It’s been a busy week in the garden, with new hens arriving (16 wks old) and their coop getting a complete revamp for spring. They’ve settled in well and seem to be really happy in their new home. We’re all looking forward to fresh eggs again. 😋
We’ve also been busy making some raised beds for our root veggies, a real blessing and makes life so much easier, especially with a sore back.
It’s also the last of our up cycled metal and I love that we’ve used every piece … nothing wasted. 😃
It’s been a job and a half to fill them, but we’re lucky enough to own horses, so there’s never a shortage of well rotted manure. Two nearly complete, two to go … 👍
We all enjoyed this little home school project and it was perfect for a snowy day stuck indoors. Our boys had a wonderful time following the instructions and learning how to use the tools. Now we just have to wait and hope the birds can find it … 🤞
Finally some good snow overnight. Blizzards this morning and it’s bitterly cold out there, especially with the windchill. Make sure to wrap up warm. That being said … I love it 🥰
