Love’s not red or pink or silver or gold.
It’s blue and it’s green; it’s brave and it’s bold.

We celebrate fate,
And the greatest love story never told.
I’m gonna say a thing and then I’m going to BED. Once upon a time a little boy wore rainbow bracelets. He would pretend to be Freddie Mercury. He was such a nervous perfectionist he wouldn’t even let his mum and sister watch him sing. He worked at a bakery where everyone loved him. One day he got put in a band and he went on to be insanely famous. People started making money off of saying things about him, marketing magazine covers and perfumes. They said he was a womanizer. They said he had a thing for older women. They said he was a greasy fuck boy. But all through this the boy was kind. Kind to his crews, to his fans, hugging through panic attacks, joyfully dancing to packed stadiums, waving around rainbow flags. Calling out bigots.
Privacy didn’t exist for him; people tracked his flights, his cars, his homes. Still he didn’t turn bitter or begrudge his fame. Still he took pics with fans, or paid for their dinners, or called their kids. When the band took a break and he went solo, he clawed back his privacy, his life. He began wearing ‘women’s’ clothes and championing gender fluid designers. He still waved rainbow flags at every. Single. Show. He helped a fan come out. He said in an interview that he had a “person,” just one. He started wearing nail polish openly. A rainbow pin appeared on his lapel.
Anyone who believes the oringinal marketed lies about Harry Styles the womanizer, the fuck boy, the hetero rock star, is not only deluded but purposefully perpetuating the abusive narrative thrust on a kid at the age of 16. The little boy who wore rainbow bracelets now decorates his album in trans colors. Don’t be blindly cruel for the sake of scoring points in some fractured fandom war that frankly, should not exist.
i may complain about one direction a lot, but i still have to take a moment to say how much i fucking love one direction. their music is still, all these years later, my happy place. watching old one direction videos is still one of the easiest ways to make myself feel better when i’m sad. none of the members of the band are perfect people, but i am so glad i got to know and love them. i have so many great memories attached to them, and i’ve met so many great people through them. i know 20 years from now i’m still gonna be singing along to Fireproof in the car and i’m glad for that.
We are born to love each other, we tend to forget that. Love is winning ❤️.
A local resident puts love hearts and slogans on the plastic that covers offensive graffiti on the vandalised mural of Manchester United striker and England player Marcus Rashford on the wall of a cafe on Copson Street, Withington on July 12, 2021 in Manchester, England. Rashford and other Black players on England’s national football team have been the target of racist abuse, largely on social media, after the team’s loss to Italy in the UEFA European Football Championship last night.
