I want to write a fic with these exact words now
"Just because I'm the last Elven King east of the Sea, doesn't mean I won't slap the absolute Orc-shit out of you. So you might want to consult your ancestors one more time before you cross me again, because I operate heavily on the "fuck around and find out" wavelength of existence and by the time you DO find out, I might just be opening the door for Mandos to escort you off this wavelength and into the 'deceased' one."
-- Thranduil Oropherion (to Gandalf probably)

Humans are adorable.
Supporting evidence:
1. Humans say ‘ow’, even if they haven’t actually been hurt. It’s just a thing they say when they think they might have been hurt, but aren’t sure yet.
2. Humans collect shiny things and decorate their bodies and nests with them. The shinier the better, although each individual has a unique taste for style and colouring
3. Humans are not an aquatic or even amphibious species, but they flock to bodies of water simply to play in it. They can’t even hold their breath all that long; they just love to splash!
4. When night falls and the sky goes dark, humans become drowsy and begin to cocoon themselves in soft, fluffy bedding.
5. Some humans spend time in each other’s nests! Just for fun! It’s not their nest; they’re just visiting each other.
6. Some humans use pigments and dyes to make their bodies flashy and colourful! They even attach shiny dangly bits to their cartalidgous membranes!
7. Humans are very clever, and sometimes adopt creatures from other species into their family units. They don’t seem to notice the obvious differences, and often raise them alongside their own young!
8. If a human sees another creature in distress, they can commonly be observed trying to help! Even at their own risk, most humans are deeply compassionate creatures!
9. If a human hears a particularity catchy sound or tune, it will often mimic it, even to the point of annoying themselves!
10. Sneezes are entirely involuntary, and completely adorable. Especially when the human in question becomes frustrated
11. Humans love treats!!! Some more than others. Many humans will save these treats specifically for a later date when they are in need of comfort or reassurance. IE, pickles, pop tarts, Popsicles, etc
12. They’re learning to travel in space!!! They can’t get very far, but they’re trying!!! So far, they’ve made it to the end of their yard, and have found rocks

So I was just doing the dishes, minding my own business when a thought occurred to me -- In my headcanons Thranduil is around the same age as Luthien which essentially puts him in the category of "the first elves to actually be born" and what do yall think the chances are that Thranduil was the first ever, Grumpy Baby.
Even Feanor (arguably the grumpiest elf ever created) didn't start out that way. He took some time to grow into the angry self-combustible elf that we know so well! It took him several years of living and experimenting with the world around him before he was like "You know, this just isn't for me."
But not Thranduil. No, no.
Thranduil arrived to greet the world and was thoroughly unimpressed with every inch of it the second he arrived. His first words were:
"Either put me back inside or open a window because the stench of stupidity in this room is making me nauseated."
When his parents took him out and about in the city, those who stopped to talk to them and meet Thranduil would almost always end up pausing to ask: "Is your son okay? I've never seen a baby make that face??"
And Oropher or his wife would have to awkwardly like: "Oh don't worry, he's perfectly fine. Thranduil is just rolling his eyes to let us know he's bored and disinterested with you and wants you to go away."
"He's not even ten days old??"
"He started doing this on day three :)"

Sam: The town says that my Old Gaffer was so pleased when he found out he was going to be a dad that he went out that very afternoon to speak to the local smithy about fashioning a set of garden tools right suitable for a child's hands.
Sam: From the first days I can remember, I knew that my dad was going to raise me to be the best gardener in all the Shire.
Sam: How about you, Mr. Legolas? Did your father raise you to be any certain way?
Legolas, while gently helping an injured Dragonfly off the ground: Terrifying.
Pippin: Come again?
*Legolas picks up the spear Aragorn had just set aside in frustration at not being able to catch a single fish for almost an hour, and throws it up stream without half a glance*
Legolas, watching as Aragorn waits for the spear to float back down stream to him: My father raised me to be able to enter almost any situation and be the most terrfying thing around for miles.
Pippin, staring in shock at the massive fish attached to the other end of the spear: Tell him that he did a splendid job.
Legolas: :)

Momma, I wanted to ask you as well as the woodelves, how to turn a bad day into a good day?
Awwww I'm sorry you're having a bad day/time my darling.
First and foremost I think that both the Greenwood Elves and I would like to stress how important figuring out what are the forms of self care that work best for you?
A really great place to start with this is identifying which emotions you're feelings and properly label them. If what you're really feeling is anger and jealously but THINK it's  just anxiety, it might impact which type of self care that you chose and how effective it is. Plus! Once you're able to understand what emotions you feel, it's easier to seek out activity advice or coping ideas.
I think another important thing (at least for me) on bad days is to try not to stifle my emotions or stuff them down because then they're going to lurk under the surface for the rest of the day/days. But if I sit down and listen to my feelings, and experience them just the way they are without judging myself, my reactions, or my thoughts, I can get it all "out" per say, and I can usually look at situations in different ways.
Before I give a Lil list of activities suggestions, let me also recommend that you look up or write down some things like this picture:
Tumblr media
Some other ways to turn bad days into good ones:
- Take a shower or bath (even spash some water on your face or just soak your feet)
- Reach out to a friend or loved one (even if you don't talk about your day, chances are they'll still brighten it unintentionally)
- Take a nap (Rest, let your mind process and maybe wake up feeling a bet better about things)
- Spend time with a pet
- Spend some time in nature (or, if the weather is bad listen to nature tracks with your eyes closed)
- Do something nice for somebody else, chances are you'll feel better too! (This doesn't have to be huge gestures! Maybe compliment somebody's smile or outfit, text your mom or a friend that you love them, leave a nice comment on somebody's picture, stand in front of a mirror and say nice things to yourself!!)
- Try to tidy a little bit of your space (you might not feelt better instantly, but having a visible accomplishment will make you feel better later)
- Do something for your physical appearance (paint your nails, maybe try a new makeup look, different outfits, paint on yourself with watercolor, whatever that will have you feelings yourself!)
- Look back on some happy photographs (maybe call a friend and do it together!)
- Take something off your to do list!!!
- Have a snack! Watch one of your favorite movies.
- Try meditating (or laying somewhere with your eyes closed listening to calming music or a podcast)
Love you little bean!!!!! I hope this helps 💛💕💛🥰

OH YES
I was in the center of my hometown today and had a walk around all these absolutely beautiful buildings, palaces, churches, gardens, but all the time I could only think about how much I want you Kate to enjoy this with me🤧🤧
People talk about how hard long distance relationships are but nobody talks about the struggle of long distance friendships. I would give my left leg right now to just be able to sit in our pjs and watch movies or to just be able to give a big fucking hug.
