Extra gifts - written as optional add-ons after you’ve completed your main gift - can be much smaller with a minimum word count of 250 words. There is no maximum word count for main gifts or for extra gifts.

Q. Is this an anonymous gift exchange?

A. No, but please do not tell your giftee until you have officially posted your gift. The reveal will occur the moment you post it!

Q. Are there any rules about commenting?

A. Yes. You must comment on any gift made for you. For a full gift, this should be a comment of at least 3 sentences in length. For extra gifts, it can be less.

Q. I don’t want to sign up to the exchange but I’d like to produce extra gifts. What do I do?

Hi Ocean! No, this year I do not intend to run the Handers-time exchange for several reasons, namely that I do not have the time to give the exchange the attention it deserves. That being said, there are several Handers & Anders related exchanges that Anders fans may be interested in taking place over the next few weeks!

The Rebel Hearts mhanders zine is gauging interest from artists and authors in participating - signups will be opening soon judging from their schedule.

The Secret Sanders Summerbang will be running from May 1st-September 1st (here's the link) - this is open to any Anders ship.

If I see any Anders events I will continue to reblog them here to promote them and raise awareness, but otherwise, see you guys in 2024!

💥 Announcing: Rebel Hearts: An m!Handers Zine! 💥

Rebel Hearts is a free digital zine that celebrates the relationship between Anders and m!Hawke from Dragon Age II. It features any and all interpretations of the friendmance and rivalmance between these two characters and the fascinating story that they share, both in-universe and out.

We are hoping to join more than 20 artists and 6 authors together to share the m!Handers love with other m!Handers fans. There will also be a charity designated by contributors for an optional donation if you so choose. The PDF file will be print-ready for your personal printing needs.

2022 Handers Exchange Round-up! 

Hi everyone, hope you’re having a fantastic day! The deadline has passed, and the Handers Gift Exchange 2022 has officially come to an end!

Twenty-eight of you beautiful souls signed up to exchange gifts, and with the aid of a further four participants who contributed treats/pinch-hits, we produced thirty-one Handers gifts for each other. Congratulations all around! On behalf of organiser Reikah (@faux-fires) and myself (@hollyand-writes), a HUGE thank you and well done to all!

“Alright, alright,” Varric shrugs and shakes his head. “So… you know I have this contact.”

“We’ve all heard about your contacts…”

“Yeah, well… this one… it’s a little different,” Varric looks around, suddenly furtive, and Carver narrows his eyes. 

“What?” he asks suspiciously. “Who is it?”

Varric shrugs again and tries a laugh. But when Carver just continues to look at him, he licks his lips and looks away. “It’s Garrett, alright? And… and you know… uh… he’s bringing…” 

“Oh no. Oh fuck, Varric… no. Not… not him. He’s bringing Anders? Here?” Carver takes two steps toward Varric, his boots crunching in the snow outside the stables, and clenches his fists to remind himself that he won’t punch Varric in the face, not now, not here. Use your words, he can hear his mother’s frustrated voice in his head, and he swallows hard and forces his shoulders to relax.

“Alright,” he says slowly, grinding the word out. “Alright. If… if Blondie is coming with him… then…” He exhales hard. “Varric, help me out. We gotta think of a fucking story for Cassandra… fuck. And Cullen! Cullen was there, in Kirkwall, he’s gonna…”

“You think I haven’t thought of this?” Varric hisses. He takes a deep breath and sighs it out, making a fog which dissipates into the cold air. “I know. It’s a shit-show. But Hawke’s not gonna leave Blondie behind, and I can’t ask him to. Could you?”

Carver takes a moment to imagine it, and sighs. “No,” he says reluctantly. “Those bastards. They love each other so much. And they’ve been through too much shit to be apart. Those bloody bastards.”

Varric laughs a little. “Yeah,” he sighs. Then he narrows his eyes. “You know… that might be an idea.” He smiles a little at Carver, and cocks his head. “You know, one of the things about those Kirkwall years was… there was a lot of misdirection going on. Blind ‘em with a lot of flash, you know?”

“Dwarf, I have no fucking idea,” Carver says tiredly, but Varric just grins more broadly. 

“Yeah, no, listen,” he says. “What if… what if it’s not just Blondie? What if… it’s everyone. You’re still in touch with Merrill, yeah? And Aveline?”

“Yeah…” Carver says slowly, still not feeling as if he’s getting it.

“Write ‘em,” Varric says. “Tell them the Inquisition needs them, I don’t know, kid, sell them a story. Get ‘em to come to Skyhold. I’ll talk to Isabela, and you know she’ll talk to Fenris, if we can get a hold of him. Everyone loves your brother, and Blondie too, no matter what he might tell himself. They’ll come.”

Carver snorts a laugh. “You think?” he says, but he’s already grinning. 

“You got any better ideas?” Varric asks, returning Carver’s grin. “Come on, Junior. We got letters to write.”

June 18th - Midday

Taking the carriage to the coast this morning. Blessedly empty as the summer season has already started and most are already on holiday. Not particularly looking forward to two weeks away from the clinic, but Lirene was very outspoken about my need for rest and relaxation. I just hope that I'll be able to find some while trying to avoid all of the requisite pleasantries I'll be forced to attend as my father's son. 

At least the prodigal one will be there to stand in and make excuses for me. Kristoff has accepted his fate as heir wholeheartedly and wishes I would tolerate some of these miserable traditions and obligations, but I can't be content in a life of luxury knowing that others suffer without my presence. I have every faith in the girls at the clinic, however. I know I'm leaving it in the best hands possible. 

The coast is lovely, at least. The sea breeze is warm with not a cloud in sight. No lingering smoke and smells of the city here, just fresh sea air. It's been ages since I've seen Tethras Gardens. I'm sure Varric is doing well for himself, and I'll be glad to take refuge in his library as needed to avoid the socialites.
