i just wanted to talk about how, just before octavian's death, will called octavian an anemic loser. let me remind you what being anemic IS. Google -

thAnemia is a problem of not having enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry oxygen to the body's tissues. Hemoglobin is a protein found in red cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to all other organs in the body. Having anemia can cause tiredness, weakness and shortness of breath. anemia may also be considered a disability in certain situations with the person or in the environment. i ask you now why calling someone anemic as an insult is somehow made into an iconic quote. if will wasn't such a loved character and octavian wasn't hated so much, you all would be lunging at will every chance you got. someone please justify this to me because i really don't want to dislike will also this is just my opinion dw!! if you feel about it a different way or see it a different i respect that fr, just don't argue with one another about it and try keeping insulting people off the list when you are justifying it ! you can get your point through without insulting someone and i'll understand it the same way

#100% agree #I personally dislike the line for many reasons #the first being that using a medical condition or other physical trait over which someone has no control as an insult is fundamentally #misguided and immoral #the second being that it genuinely feels out of character for will (in my opinion) #as one of the few characters who did vaguely consider extending octavian mercy and understanding especially #it was bad writing #however the line is also a pet peeve of mine so far as fandom goes #op you avoided this very well in your post so thank you #but so many people make the argument that #will insulting octavian by calling him an anemic loser is wrong because octavian has anemia #which is not in fact made canon anywhere in the text and avoids the broader issue #it's fine to hc octavian as anemic or any way you want really #but will's insult is not a diagnosis nor is the immorality of it in that octavian actually has the condition in question

This train of thought is probably because of my coffee shop au ideas, but what do each of the triumvirs drink, coffee-wise?

I can’t decide whether Caligula or Nero is the Black Coffee person – and the fact is there can only be one.

I initially wanted to give it to Caligula, but he is Mr. Shirley Temple. Would he order some ridiculous Starbucks frap?

Nero is the Business One so he’s also a prime candidate for being a black coffee drinker, but he’s also an extravagant baby! Would he order a black coffee but with like,,,a strawberry syrup shot?

Plot twist would be Commodus is the Black Coffee person, but I feel like he mixes his coffee with Redbull and other questionable beverages for Maximum Caffeine High.

Yeah Octavian sucks, but would he be homophobic?

1 He is related to Apollo. I doubt Apollo would let him live if he was.

2 If he was homophobic, would Apollo give him the gift of prophecy?

3 I’m sure there are lgbtq+ people in New Rome/camp Jupiter

#literally we have zero information to help answer this question #to be fair I disagree with op's argument that Apollo wouldn't allow any of his descendants to be homophobic #that's just not how the gods work #especially Apollo #who tended (before ToA) to blame his descendants for their failures to maintain his own sense of glory and perfection #and also y'know to ignore them #yes Octavian being augur and having the connection to Apollo that he does is unique and important #but I don't think it makes Apollo the homophobia police #besides #the question of whether Octavian is 'homophobic' depends on whether you're using that in the modern sense (which I feel we are) #or the ancient Roman sense (which is very complicated) #which I feel would be far more likely #but which we still have no evidence for or against in canon

On Octavian and his powers...

This is your daily reminder that just because Hazel made Octavian out to be a con-man doesn't mean that he's actually faking. If the transition from PJO to HoO should have taught us something is that first person narrating is subjective and therefore unreliable.

Leo looks goofy and happy from everyone else's pov, but insecure and sad from his own. Percy looks dominative and dangerous from other people's pov, but sassy and unserious from his own and Annabeth's. Clarisse and Nico were heavily disliked and seen as mindlessly violent and annoying from Percy's pov during PJO, but were much more likable when described from the pov of a character that was their friend.

With this method, Rick has shown us time and time again that first person pov is unreliable and the feelings a character had for another will affect the way they think of them. Hazel heavily dislikes Octavian because he basically admitted to knowing her secret and was blackmailing her with it, so obviously Hazel wouldn't want to acknowledge it if Octavian had very real, objectively useful capabilities. That doesn't mean the augur is faking his auguries.

Finally, a con-man wouldn't be able to know such a well kept secret (being brought back from the dead) when most others don't know or view it as a rumor. A con-man wouldn't be able to change the weather just above his temple only for no other reason but dramatic effect. And a con-man wouldn't be able to fool Reyna and her greyhounds that can literally tell when someone's lying and are trained to attack liars.

Octavian can foresee the future with his auguries. He's not faking. He would have been caught by now if he was, because Reyna wouldn't just give such power away to people without first checking that they are actually meant to have it. There's no way she didn't make Octavian declare his abilities as an augur infront of her dogs to be sure he's not lying, so how about we stop with the unreasonable hatred towards the very real augur?
