After Leigh Bardugo's appearance on Good Morning America to discuss her new book, The Familiar, the Sun US have released an article discussing her wishes to bring back the Shadow and Bone show after its cancellation.
"It was true magic to see that happen," Leigh responded.
The author went on to say that the series was also heartbreaking because she felt that they had so much more story left to tell before it was canceled.
"I'm grateful everyday for our incredible cast and incredible writers and I hope that it will find a place someplace else," she said.

New strategy: Get Season 1 of Shadow and Bone trending in the Netflix Top 10!
Recent intel has uncovered a game-changing strategy: Netflix tracks metrics for each season of a show separately, meaning we must channel our collective strength into making Season 1 of Shadow and Bone trend on Netflix! Streaming Season 2 as well only divides our efforts, so for this week (Dec. 11-17) only stream Season 1 of Shadow and Bone on Netflix. Do not stream Season 2 this week!
Whether you’re actively watching the show or streaming it in the background, make sure the volume is on (lowest setting or plugging in earphones works if you need quiet), and don’t skip through to your favorite parts. The show must be watched all the way through, from start to finish. Also, make sure you stream a short episode of a different show between rewatching the season so Netflix doesn’t think you’re a bot!
Why Streaming Matters:
1. High streaming numbers signal a revenue stream Netflix has underestimated.
2. Lots of complete views show fans are deeply engaged vs. casually tuning in.
3. Concrete data is a language Netflix understands. Let’s speak it fluently!
When NBC canceled Manifest, their fans got it trending in the Netflix Top 10, which had a lot to do with Netflix saving their show. We got Shadow and Bone trending as the #1 show on Netflix before, so we can get back into the Top 10 again! We need 230,000 full season views of Shadow and Bone Season 1 THIS WEEK! That seems like a daunting task, but considering we have more than 175,000 signatures on our petition, it is possible to achieve it if we all work together!
If Netflix wants to play games with their so-called algorithms, we can game the system, too. Channel your inner Kaz Brekker, and let’s do this!

Netflix cancels Shadow and Bone
Leigh Bardugo posted on her Instagram earlier today to announce that there will be no Shadow and Bone s3 or Six of Crows spinoff.
She says:
Friends, by now you've probably heard that there will be no season 3 for Shadow and Bone and no Six of Crows spinoff. The news hit me hard. I'm heartbroken and deeply disappointed, but I'm also trying to hold onto my very real gratitude. Most authors never get to see their work adapted. Many who do end up regretting the experience. I'm one of the lucky few who can look at an adaptation with pride and tremendous joy. I am so grateful to our writers, our crew, and our extraordinary cast who are not just wildly talented, but genuinely good people. Most of all I want to say how grateful I am to the folks reading this—whether you found your way to the books first or discovered them through the show. The Grishaverse is a better place because of you and I am so thankful for every tweet, post, comment, review, artwork, fic, tattoo, and cosplay that helped to make all of this possible. We're book people and that means we never stop imagining that magic can be made real. You are proof of that. Now, I'm going to go have a cry, and maybe a drink, and then see where the story takes us next.

Could we be getting Shadow and Bone Season 3 news?
Although there's no official news yet about whether Shadow and Bone will be renewed for a third season, the end of the writer's strike means we could finally get answers about whether we can see our favourite live action Grishaverse characters again.
According to an article by ScreenRant, Shadow and Bone season 2 was in Netflix's global top 10 for over a month. It also ranked second on the Nielsen charts on the week of its release, after You.
Considering how well the show performed, it's likely that Netflix will renew it for a third season (or even the rumoured Six of Crows spinoff!) but with the chaos of everyone returning to work after a historic strike - and with many writers continuing to support the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike - it could be a while before we get any news, and even longer before any new episodes can be released.
Although the writer's strike resulted in a fantastic outcome, please continue to support the actors in their fight to get a fair deal. Find out how you can best continue to help them on their website.
