Made a breakfast burrito with shrimp from the market. The shrimp was pretty watered down, but I love making meals for myself!🧡💛

This year, I made bangers n mash and the best roast beef I've ever had!

I think England would be proud.💛
Tumblr media
America's Test Kitchen claimed the cut I used for my roast would be "mediocre in flavor and lacked juiciness," but that was nothing medium rare and a thick layer of salt couldn't fix!

💗Mtn Dew SPARK: Raspberry Lemonade💗
How refreshing!
The color of the drink isn't a blight to the eyes like most Mountain Dew drinks. It's a soft baby pink, just like a real red berry lemonade. The big warning label-like wrap on the thing and the cyberpunk shaped bottle remind you that this is in fact a Mountain Dew, and contains 0% Juice, but BOY do I not give a shit!
It is TASTY! For lack of a much better word, I'd describe this drink as "watered down". It's fizzy to high hell, but the flavor is just mild enough to make you want to drink more right away instead of waiting 5 minutes like other flavors.
The flavor is very clearly "pink lemonade". There is something VERY familiar about it too. I haven't been able to place it. Otter pops? The frozen Minute Maid lemonade? Mountain Dew's Strawberry Limeade Amp? I got a second bottle to find that mystery nostalgia, but no such luck so far. Good job Mountain Dew for getting more money from me though.
While the flavor is WONDERFUL, I am not a fan of the presentation. Not that Mountain Dew can help it without spending an unnecessary amount of money on rebranding for a one-off drink. But still, the feeling I get from the flavor doesn't match the hardcore look of the bottle. I think this second bottle will be the last I buy, and I'll just make my own raspberry lemonade. Or I'll finally figure out this mystery memory this drink is calling up.
I will be having a great time playing Animal Crossing as I finish this bottle. Great flavor Mountain Dew! Finally a hardcore drink that won't burn my intestines out! (Or at least it doesn't FEEL like it.)

Cheese Review: Unnamed Extra Creamy Gouda Gorgonzola
On the rare visit to Whole Foods I was able to snag a $2.30 portion of an unnamed gouda, soft and extra creamy. The cheese overseer recommends serving it on baguette, and I had a leftover Hillshire Farm's Summer Sausage, so that's what I served it with.
I usually prefer very soft cheeses, things easy to spread on crackers and breads, and here that is exactly what you get. No bits, pure cheese flavor.
To be honest, I can't tell much a difference between this and other soft cheese; it's much like the triple cream bleu cheeses I eat. Maybe cheeses that are mostly cream are like that. There is a subtle difference I believe, so let's get into my thoughts to elaborate.
There is a moldy quality I like that makes my breath feel funny when I inhale, but there's a earthy flavor that isn't a personal favorite of mine. Though, as I keep eating it to describe it, it is growing on me.
I looked up gouda, however, and there is absolutely no mention online of a "soft gouda" in the consistency I have. I think I may have been lied to, which I should never assume Jeff Amazon is above. Well, funnily enough, I misread the label, as it was gorgonzola all along! I will not apologize to Jeff however, but now that has cleared up my confusion!
I had the cheese with the summer sausage I mentioned, and both of these articles benefit from one another. The sausage was sour, which is mellowed out by cream, and the earthy cheese taste was put to good use, combining nicely with the taste of sausage. Definitely saved me from choking down that sour meat in the future.
Overall, I think it was pretty uninteresting as far as soft cheeses go on its own, but it's relative boringness made it a good compliment to added meat. This might be nice on a picnic with crackers and cured meats, as I can see it going well with a slice of prosciutto. And it was definitely worth it's price point.

🔥Mnt Dew Flamin' Hot Review🔥
I was alarmed at this even existing. My friend, Dylan, sent me a picture of it, and I was foolish enough to think that it was just a meme. At first met with disgust and revoltion at the concept, I decided to face my fears and buy the liquid spice. This, combined with my past horror with Cheetos mac n cheese, set me on edge for trying this devil's concoction. And it is really underwhelming given the excitement.
If you've had Mountain Dew and a candy Hot Tamale, you've can picture a better version of what this drink actually is.
There is little discernible flavor, hardly differentiating with the original Mnt Dew recipe. There is a slight citrus twinge and fruity strawberry-like taste, but I haven't had a basic Mountain Dew in eons (I obsess over the Amp cans though).
The marketing is all out of the Flaming Hot, so how does that stack up? This is the flavor we've come to love from Cheetos, Doritos, and I'm sure some other chip company. Can the Mountain Dew the impossible and put it in a drink??
Eh, kinda. The burn is mild on first taste, but drinking consecutive sips makes the burn compound. It's not much, even at that. The back of my throat feels pricked with pins and needles, and my tongue tingles, but I wouldn't call this a success at implementing the Flaming Hot.
Could they have done it better?? Ehyaaaah, no. I get why the flavor is this way. I'm sure no kid would want to drink an actually spicy bottle of Mountain Dew, or many white people for that matter, and I'm positive Mountain Dew isn't targeting anyone outside those two demographics. It needs to be diluted and underwhelming, that's how you sell these things by the case.
The color is a disgustingly vibrant red, and I look forward to seeing what color my pee turns out to be, but that was a small success given the hype into this.
But it does look cool!

I've forgotten how I smile
and I don't know why
I rest well at night,
sleep in most of the day,
so I can't understand why I feel this way
I stare blank in the mirror
and I don't know why
I know it's not me,
and their problems aren't mine
But I still feel everything but fine
I cry alone in my room
and I don't know why
I'm loved and wanted
is what they'll say
I have no reason to feel this way
I'm not a burden
My life is fine
I'm financially supported
So why did I cry
I don't know

Movie Night- The Garden of Words (No Subtitles)
What a beautifully animated film! I'd seen lots of GIF clips of this movie on my aesthetically curated Instagram feed months ago, but only got around to seeing it now. Those clips only got to show a portion of this gorgeously drawn 45-minute romp.
I had angled myself and my blankets just so, that I couldn't read the subtitles. I thought that would be great since I'd like to learn Japanese, and listening without the translation helps immersion. While watching however, not being able to read the plot only added to the visual beauty of the movie. I started to tune out words and became entranced by the falling rain and panning shots of landscape.
Since I wasn't following the specifics of the plot, the reveal of Yukari Yuniko being a teacher and being bullied by students came a tad out of left field. Even after reading the plot synopsis on Wikipedia, I was a bit perplexed as to why it seemed the students really saddened by Yukari's departure though she was being bullied by her students. But then again, I didn't watch with subtitles, so that's ultimately on me.ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ
Other than that qualm, I enjoyed all of the films visuals, especially every scene in the titular garden. Stunning. The animation of rain will always impress me.
I really enjoyed the chemistry of the two main characters, and both of their ages were quite evident through their character designs and movements. Takao Akizuki, the young man and (I'd say) primary protagonist gets an easy tell of age with his school uniform, but also moves more insecurely around Yukari. Yukari has more visual tells with her beige heels and more business casual attire, but you can tell she's rather young from her curiosity and her stronger emotions (e.g. Her enthusiastic love of chocolate and her tearful speech at the end). The two interacted naturally and no one conversation felt forced, at least visually. And then Yukari put her foot on a piece of paper a little too sensually and that was a bit strange, but let's pretend that didn't happen.
Overall, hyper polished animation is my jam, given the plot isn't a drag (Your Name being one of my favorite movies, as another example). I have lately been more keen on watching nature and it's wonders as well, so I found this calm, rather short, stroll through The Garden of Words to be quite what I needed.
Perhaps I won't watch it again, but I'm sure some GIFs of those beautiful backgrounds will end up on my camera roll.

England Headcanons🌹for a bit of fun
• Likes to write short poems on index cards. Gives them to countries anonymously who might be having a rough time or who simply would appreciate the art.
• Puts his hand on someone’s shoulder if they are sad. Has a very firm grasp, so it isn’t really comfortable, but feels very protective.
• Is part of a local football league. Goes religiously every weekend. Started his team's groupchat but never participates.
• Drives a Mini Cooper (2-door), with all the Union Jack details. Taillights, dashboard, rear-view mirror caps. The works.
• Certified prude; will scold you for speaking with “such filthy language”. But if you get him alone, he can get very handsy and crass. If his crush speaks inappropriately to him, he goes red in the face and gets flustered and loses his words.
• Loves all dragons and anything to do with them. He thinks the interest is childish though, so he won’t talk about it openly, but it’s always safe to get him a birthday card with one on it. His heart will melt.
• Is terrible at all video games except FPSs. And of course, he teabags everyone.
• Prefers his tea with one sugar, no milk, and a splash of lemon.

Movie Night- Wish You: Your Melody From My Heart (Did Not Finish)
I ended up really liking this movie for what is was. Wish You is a silly little gay romantic Korean drama of a movie that is pretty stinkin cheesy, but I do love myself some cheese.
Yoon Sang Yi is walking down the street and he sees a, what I assumed to be, street musician (In Soo) and falls for his beautiful eyes instantly. Turns out, Sang Yi also plays music, playing a keyboard for some record company and in a set up of silly romcom drama, end up working together and blah blah blah romance movie stuff.
Overall, I'm not a fan of the romance drama when it involves one person being a pushover and mushy, and I didn't like how Sang Yi was so horribly inept at saying the right thing at any point, but it was nice to see this goofy shit play out with two men. Is it a perfect example of how a gay relationship should look? No. But no romance movie is a good image of how any relationship should look. It's that it was played so naturally, as if their sexes didn't matter, is what I loved. Getting some more LGBT+ rep that is neutral is what makes me happy. Like we don't need to constantly prove our existence and all. Now look who's getting mushy.
I didn't finish the movie though because of one scene. And let me say, this isn't me saying the movie sucks. I just knew that from this scene I couldn't handle the rom com shit anymore. It was when the three lads had drinks (our lovey duo and the third wheel best friend), and love interest In Soo was passed out drunk. Then Sang Yi has the absolute gall to lean into this unconscious man for a kiss. Like, one, rapey so no, and (to a lesser degree) two! Who wants to kiss limp fish lips?! EW! He didn't kiss him but I was still cheesed they pulled that stunt.
I'm sure the rest of the movie is cute as hell. And if anything, I'm positive the lighting and color choices held up. Every scene in this movie was a soft pastel look of warm and cool tones. It was oh so very aesthetic and my heart yearned for more! Too bad about the creepiness that honestly plagues too much of our media, but I digress.
Wish You was cute, and I'm sure that if someone likes romance movies and is open to watching a movie outside of their little white American Hallmark circle (and isn't homophobic), they'll love this movie.
Pretty sure I'll finish it myself in a few days because it really was cute and I do want to see them kiss. Consensually.
