My father has worked for the DoD since the mid 90s, and most animes that get network time slots in the US have funding from them. It's why most animes that get that kind of release in the US are fighting/militaristic animes. (The first one he told me he helped with was the Gundam Wing dub.) I'm messaging you this information because Yashahime ticks all the boxes for a series they would've funded. The main one is Sesshomaru and Rin's relationship. They push age gap relationships in media when women's and children's right activism starts to get more attention. When they have more rights, women are less likely to get married and have children, while the children who are born have more stable homes and family finances, which makes them less likely to join the military. There was more than just the SessRin relationship. The entire series was nothing but propaganda poorly glued together. (Especially the end when they discussed children being on a battlefield, that scene was so obvious.) I've been wanting to reach out and share this for a while, but I honestly wasn't sure anyone would believe me. With the public becoming more knowledgeable about government and military propaganda in the last few months, I think people are ready for it.
Thank you very much for sending this to me, anon. I want you to know that I believe you.
Many people - not just antis - have said over and over again that fiction does affect reality. Of course fiction is used to promote certain agendas, of course fiction is used to promote certain values, certain relationships , certain situations, - both for good and for bad. Whoever knows about marketing won't let me lie, fiction is used both to generate rejection and acceptance and desire for particular things. Perhaps we would do well to ask ourselves why certain shows, certain books, certain music, certain movies or fiction-in any format, not just anime-receive budget and others do not. Come on, there are even studies and articles about this. It's 2024, people who insist that fiction does not affect reality aren't in reality themselves to begin with.
So Anon, thanks again for your ask, and if you like to send more information about this, it's welcome here :)

Okay, so, looks like Google Docs might actually start implementing their rule about not sharing explicit content. (This includes writing.) How in the ever loving fuck am I supposed to back up 1,000+ stories that equate to 3 million+ words into fucking Microsoft Word????? And efficiently, for that matter?! HELP.

It's getting to be con season, and we all know what that means? Yup, time to get the names of the people who run, and work, cons off their websites and check for their names on the national sex offender registry. As someone who used to volunteer as security for anime and comic conventions, I can tell you that you will probably get at least two hits.

🍉 Queer Palestinian Books 🍉
🇵🇸 The algorithm is going to keep silencing my posts, but they're not going to silence me. I grew up with little to no books that made me feel seen as a queer/bisexual Palestinian Arab American. Today, it's still not easy enough to find those books online, even though we have thousands of lists, posts, and directories to guide us. To make your search a little easier, here are a few queer Palestinian books to add to your TBR. Please help me spread this by reblogging. Consider adding these to your least for Read Palestine Week (click for resources)! 💜

Jeff Bezos's Amazon and Elon Musk's SpaceX are both fighting in court to have the National Labor Relations Board declared unconstitutional. Starbuck's and Trader Joe's joined them in separate lawsuits. All of these companies have a disgraceful history of worker abuse and union busting. All of them have been charged by the NLRB with hundreds of violations of workers’ organizing rights The NLRB is standing up to their union busting. That’s why they’re trying to destroy the NLRB. I'm going to do my best to keep you all informed about this case as it snakes its way through the courts. The future of unions may depend on the final verdict. http://dlvr.it/T49LM1

it is crazy how “if this childrens show doesn’t kill their villain at the end it’s irredeemable media” became such a popular opinion here. like people were calling steven universe fascist apologia. and to be clear I don’t even think that would be the case for non childrens media, either. perhaps holding every single story up to the same standard of “does it follow the acceptable narrative path or is it evil propaganda” isn’t the most anti-fascist thing, either. maybe.

As a riotgrrrl/punk who once punched the tooth out of a Nazis mouth and then wore it as a good luck charm for years, (the logic in that was the channeling of the Nazis pain enhanced my luck) I approve of this post.
And for anyone who wants to know, I eventually lost the tooth necklace. I only hope that it has found its way to someone who will use it to also fight Nazis.

STEM majors go through a lot of ethics classes, they are required to. It's not that they're not taught what's right and wrong, it's that the type of people who care are weeded out. Just like in every other specialty. The same way that, historically, some of the most famous artists, writers, actors and musicians have been terrible abusers, in most situations, people who are the most morally unshakable are weeded out. This isn't just in work or school settings, in my experience, the worst thing I can do in any social situation is point out when someone is being morally reprehensible. When someone is being hypocritical and pretending to be woke while doing the opposite. In reality it's not that we aren't taught what's right or wrong, it's that we're not taught how to objectively view what we do personally as right or wrong. Our society teaches ethics in theory, rarely do we teach it in practice regardless of what the person goes to school for or is interested in.
