Where I am from you say “I’m sorry” when someone else bumps into you!

Either people need to learn how to tell the difference between an “I’m sorry” that takes direct responsibility and an “I’m sorry” that signifies sympathy, or I’m gonna start responding to unfortunate information with a solemn nod and a “Sympies,” because I am tired of receiving a “Why? It wasn’t your fault” every time I try to vocalize compassion.

His *hearts*. This is so good. I was not prepared for surprise Kakuzu but I’m living for it.

Mito’s thumb stays in the divot of his chin as she speaks, it’s distracting, “how long have you been in love with your enemy?”

“Love is a strong word, princess,” Kakuzu growls low in his throat as he squeezes Mito’s hips so hard he can feel the softness of her give way to the strength beneath. He crowds in close enough to smell Hashirama’s scent on her hair; his taste on her breath. “It’s going to take a lot more than a pardon and a few good fucks to bridge that gap.”

"I see."

She smiles—soft and serene—but this flavor of sweetness isn’t for him, not yet. Her eyes linger over his shoulder and Kakuzu knows to brace himself to take the hot line of Hashirama's weight for them both. In his distraction, Mito slides the light press of her thumb down his chin and ghosts her fingertips along his neck where the racing beat of his hearts tells the truth his lips won't.
