I think something that’s so jarring about being on tumblr is seeing posts about what’s happening in Gaza, real struggle under an active settler colonial regime, and then you see a post where people are arguing with the same vigor that actually they are the vanguard of the oppressed by…advocating for incest and pedophilia in fanfiction. It’s jarring like people honestly think they are not only being radical and sticking it to the establishment, they are actually preforming activism.

its taizi dianxia! i asked my brother for his honest opinion and he said (politely) that he has no idea what he's looking at. he pointed at one part of the painting and said "is that a tree?"(there are no trees in this painting) he thought the red stuff around xie lian were leaves .... actually they're fish 💀............ i tried to fix it but didn't like it and kept the original version... its messy... maybe just pay attention to the colors ok? the colors are pretty....... anyway i'm happy i finished this before the last episode aired

the way the faces of the natives with spears and face paint are drawn, the clear demarcation that their skin is darker than xie lian’s and sqx’s, the clear mocking of their speech and the treatment of them as “savages” …. fuck that, its genuinely disgusting. im so disturbed lol.

as someone who is both chinese and indian i feel so put out by that depiction, and i somehow don’t rmb it ever occurring in the novels?
