Yes, you've been invited to interview! 🥳 After the elation of the news, now you may be feeling worried about how to make the best impression on a virtual interview. 😏 As a Senior Recruiter I've created my top 5 tips for how to make the best impression 👀 1️⃣ Test the link to the interview the day before. You may need to set up a profile or to download an app, so prepare before hand so you don't connect late! 2️⃣ Be on time! This goes without saying, but treat a virtual interview exactly the same as an in person interview and arrive early. 3️⃣ Check your lighting, microphone and angle of your camera. No-one wants to look up your nose, so adjust accordingly. 4️⃣ Switch on a background image or sit with a clear background. A messy kitchen may give the wrong impression. 5️⃣ Eliminate background noise. Pets, children watching TV or partners working from home can all create noise. Try to find a quiet space and use headphones to limit interruptions. Controversial, but sadly true! 🥺 Speaking with a job seeker for over 30-mins recently, I had to ask “what do you do?” 🧐 My role as Senior Recruiter puts me into contact with thousands of job seekers on a daily basis and sadly this is not an isolated incident. When sending an application you have only a few seconds to communicate who you are and what you can offer.⏱ However, so few people use power words to communicate who they are that many applications are simply overlooked! 🤦‍♂️ If you aren’t 💯 on what you can offer and how you could suitably do the role and add value to the company, then how would we (as recruiters) who have only seconds to decide, know? Not knowing what you can offer a company is a HUGE problem, because recruiters assess you based on the highlights presented. Below are my recommendations: 1️⃣ Be clear on what you can offer. The title of your last role is a good starting point. Include a mix of experience and what you like to work with. 2️⃣ Practice your elevator pitch and be ready to present it at every opportunity! Speaking clearly, using concise sentences to convey understanding about yourself, your past work experience and strengths is key to being ‘heard.’ 3️⃣ Don’t be afraid to only send applications to companies that meet your requirements, such as ethical working practices or a balanced workforce. Once you start being more selective, you can identify WHY you have targeted a specific company and your WHY is easy to communicate. 4️⃣ Recruiters are not mind readers. If you can do the job, then state it by showing past work experience RELEVANT to that specific role. 5️⃣ Be concise! Ain’t nobody got time for a 30-minute intro only to be left not knowing who you are. Use bullet point wording to strike the right notes and keep you on track. Are you making these mistakes?💁‍♂️ As a Recruiter I am often shocked at what I experience when trying to recruit new hires. 👀 Here, I've compiled my top 10 list of the most fatal mistakes that job seekers make. 1) Follow what is said in the job description to the letter. That also means that you need to read it entirely before applying. 2) Failing to tailor your application to a specific role. 3) A follow-up email is ok, but don't send multiple emails. 4) Long applications - "ain't nobody got time for that!" Short, concise - get to the point quickly. 5) Make sure to follow up after submitting your application. 6) Interviews demonstrate how you'll behave in real life. Being late is not acceptable - even for online interviews! 7) Know the company or stay at home. 8) Don't bad mouth previous work colleagues or workplaces. 9) Don't send multiple follow-up emails. The first not until after the deadline. 10) Be clear on what you can offer. Without you knowing it, how should we be able to recognise it? IS THIS YOU?? 👀 You may have a routine for your job search established for Monday-Friday, but what do you have scheduled over the weekend to support your efforts?🤷🏽‍♀️ See our top 5 tips for weekend inspiration 🙌 1. Give yourself time to switch off. It's ok to have job search in the back of your mind, but the weekend should not be used to focus on your tasks and objectives. Use the time to enjoy time with your friends and family or catch up on email or telephone communication.     2. Review the week just gone. Although the weekend is not a time to focus on job search, it is a time to reflect and to assess on what was achieved and what could be done differently moving forward. If you have a journal a simple end of week round up with a summary for job search success and any possible improvements is a great idea.     3. Set goals. Using the point above establish achievable goals for the week ahead and set a deadline for each. For example: - Send email follow up for last weeks applications Monday8:30-9am. - Update CV Monday 9-11am   4. Remember that mindset counts. Don't be too hard on yourself. Rome wasn't built in a day and you will get there, so try not to put yourself under any unnecessary pressure.   5. Be positive! Every single one of my clients that has been hired over the last year have one thing in common (probably more, but this one thing is notable) - positivity! Be positive that your efforts will pay off. Energy, whether positive or negative is infectious, so make sure you are spreading the right one to prospective employees.     Now relax, enjoy the weekend and prepare to hit Monday morning refreshed and ready to go 💪 Want Monday morning Job Search motivation? I know, 2021 hasn't started out the best! 🙄 So, how can you make 2021 the year for your career to take off? 🚀 ⏬⏬⏬ At my Career Strategy meetings with job seekers and career movers, I am often asked about how to take the next steps on the career ladder 🪜 Below I've shared my top tips for how 2021 can be YOUR year for your career to take off 🛫🌟     ▶️ Firstly, this goes without saying, but the best way to create change is to make change. So, if you would like your career to go in a different direction, then start by doing things differently from before. ▶️ Once you have decided to make change, now is the time to act! Focus is required. What are your career goals? Think about location, title, salary, commute to work, responsibility. This will help you to establish your goals. ▶️ With a clear career goal in mind (new position, closer to home with shorter commute and better working hours for example), then comes the fun part! Look inwards not at what vacancies are posted. Who do you know within the industry you wish to work in? Do you have connections to help you to achieve your career goals? ▶️ Using your network to gain knowledge about companies, hiring practices or vacancies is key, so if you have a limited network within the industry you wish to work, then create one by networking more within specific professional circles.    ▶️ Don't be afraid to reach out to professionals. Recruiters & talent acquisition managers within your industry would be a fantastic connection to make. You've probably heard the quote fake it until you make it. I don't like this phrase as it implies falsities. However, believing in yourself and living up to the title of the role you wish have, is exactly what you should be doing. Believe and anything is possible 💜 #jobseekers #careercoach #careercoaching #insta #denmark #working #workingwoman #work #careermove #moveupcareer #careerwomenonthemove #careermoves #newcareermove #careerwomenmoves #nextcareermove #careermovemonth #careermovement #careermovesinthemaking #newcareermoves #insurancecareersmovement #strategy #businessstrategy #careerstrategy #strategycareers #expat #expatlife #expats #expatliving @_kareyanne_ https://www.instagram.com/p/CNpC8JBFlbb/?igshid=92khe5fkocdb

Rαɱαԃαɳ MυႦαɾαƙ Build bridges not walls - Understanding and Acceptance ❤️ So, what is Ramadan? Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the Islamic month of fasting, in which participating Muslims refrain from eating, drinking from dawn until sunset 🌅 Ramadan had been the name of the ninth month in Arabian culture long before the arrival of Islam. In the Qur'an it is said that "fasting has been written down (as obligatory), as it was upon those before you" which is a reference to the Jewish practice of fasting on Yom Kippur. Fasting is meant to teach patience, modesty and spirituality.  Ramadan is a time for Muslims to fast for the sake of God and to offer more prayer than usual 🕌 During Ramadan, Muslims ask forgiveness for past sins, pray for guidance and help in refraining from everyday evils, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds. As compared to the solar calendar, the dates of Ramadan vary, moving backwards about ten days each year as it is a moving holiday depending on the moon. Ramadan was the month in which the first verses of the Qur'an were said to be revealed to the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. That was during a night that Muslims call Laylat al-Qadr (the night of decree or measures.) ✨ Ramadan ends with Eid ul-Fitr on the first of Shawwal, with much celebration and feasting 🥳 #ramadan #ramadankareem #ramadanmubarak #ramadan2021 #ramadan_kareem #ramadanvibes #ramadannights #ramadanspecial #acceptance #buildingbridges #buildbridges #understanding #misunderstanding #understandinglife #inclusion #inclusionmatters #diversityandinclusion #inclusione #inclusionrevolution #careers #careersuccess #careerservices #careersearch #denmark #denmark🇩🇰 https://www.instagram.com/p/CNmpNlvlEvZ/?igshid=nq0exljv0dqw

Hey there jobseeker! 🌟 Are you finding it tough to find employment? 🧐 Whether you are a student or new graduate finding it difficult to land a role within your area of interest or a job seeker that is feeling the financial strain or perhaps newly relocated - it can sometimes be tough to find a role suited to your skills and experience 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦‍♂️ That's why many job seekers seek temporary employment. Whatever the reason for wanting to find temporary employment, below are our top tips for how to land a temporary position. 🥊 Don't talk down about the role or company. Although you are applying for a position that you may consider as a step down from your last role or past experience, your new perspective employer is looking to hear that you will be committed and motivated to do the job at hand. 🥊 Be mindful not to mention that you will only be there for a few weeks /months. 🥊 Remember to create an application tailored specifically to the role you are applying for. Sending an application for a cleaning position by using your existing manger level application WON'T get you hired! 🥊 An application for a temporary position should be no longer than 1-page. 🥊 Mindset is important here, so be mindful of the fact that the role you are now seeking is temporary. You are not taking a step back in your career! 🥊 Use the role to achieve exactly what you need at that time. Such as: financial stability, building your network, joining a union (whilst working). 🥊 Remember to continue your job search within your chosen field to secure your next move on the career ladder. #working #workingmom #networking #workinghard #workingfromhome #workinggirl #workingmum #workinglate #hardworking #workingwoman #workingday #jobseeker #jobseekers #graduate #postgraduate #freshgraduate #firstjob #jobsearch #jobsearching #jobssearch #denmark #expat #expatlife #expats #expatliving #career #careergoals #careeradvice #katips #denmark #instadaily https://www.instagram.com/p/CNkDJ1NFfAp/?igshid=p43u3u4uhavc

HEY YOU! (Yes, you 😍) Are you finding it tough to land your first job? Have you recently graduated or will you soon graduate?👇🏽 If you’re a: 💜 new student 💜 graduated within the last 3 years 💜 job seeking without success 💜 having problems getting an entry level position Then keep reading 🤩 Below we've created our top tips for how to land your first job after graduation. Written by THE only non-profit, NGO focused on expat employment assistance. Here's what you need to do: 🥊 Check your career center at your place of study. Many universities offer additional help, support and collaborations with companies to help their graduates to secure employment. Don't be afraid to reach out and ask what is available. 🥊 Build your network - now! Networking and unsolicited application account for over 70% of all new hires. So, if you want to get hired, then get connected and reach out to professionals within the field - remember they were once a new grad too. 🥊 Optimise your LinkedIn profile. So many people I work with and connect with state that their LI profile is optimised, yet when we connect I can see that they have new graduate as their title. This will not get you hired! Optimise your profile to display the title of the role you seek (or are capable of) and own it. This will help recruiters to find you. 🥊 Join professional groups. Networking events arranged by industry specific interests are a great way to make new connections and to establish links to new companies. Reach out and join anything that interests you. 🥊 Focus on what you can deliver and keep in mind what you are trying to achieve. Just graduated within marketing, but been applying for accounting roles? This is a huge problem. Focus on what you are good at and establish a suitable career move based on what you actually want to do, not on what the market is dictating. 🥊 Prepare your elevator pitch. This is worthwhile for a number of reasons: 1) you may actually get the opportunity to use it one day, 2) It will help you to clarify who you are, what you are good at and what you wish to work with. This is very often the biggest mistake new graduates make. #graduate #graduated https://www.instagram.com/p/CNXWQQSl8We/?igshid=1coyxt7uv9phr

For those of you with a dream of living or working across a border ✈️🌇 One year into the pandemic, businesses across the globe have adapted to new ways of working. Remote working, virtual meetings and recruitment across borders are now a reality, that are aiding your efforts as an expat job seeker 🙌 Here’s our top 5 tips for how to gain employment across borders: 1) Expectations from recruiters are different in certain geographical locations. Research what is needed to create a winning CV/resume and motivation letter for the specific location you wish to work. In Denmark a 2-page CV is recommended, and you have to include a recent photo! 2) Expand your network in the location you wish to work. LinkedIn is a great resource for building your professional network especially when you wish to move to a new location. The advantage is that people within your network often post when a vacancy is available. 3) Recruitment and onboarding processes are specific to each company, so do your research prior to sending an application. Few companies hire someone that is motivated to get any job, so create an application that is specific to each company with your reasons of why you would be a great addition to the team. 4) Pay particular attention to cultural differences that may have an impact on your chances of gaining employment. For example don’t use certain words that may not be acceptable, is the company WOKE for example? Pay attention and act accordingly. 5) Prepare yourself for interview by understanding what may be asked of you. Do you really wish to work for that specific company? If so, then prove it by doing your homework and pin pointing the reason you are applying to work for them and not someone else. #expat #career #path #acrossborders #careercoach #howto #instagrowth #organicgrowth #jobseeker #moveabroad #denmark #start #yourmove #relocation #dreambig #bigdreams #happylife #newlife #workabroad #kareyanne #kadtips @_kareyanne_ https://www.instagram.com/p/CNUvDtglqG-/?igshid=1bafcxwgzgtur
