🖊 i think Wren Will have have a panic attack if anyone tries covering his mouth in any way after he escapes Daniel. Like if his mom is wrapping a winter scarf and it accidentally goes over his mouth

Oooh I love that! Gags and muzzles are something he got so used to he doesn't really think about them post-captivity, but if something reminds him of them he'll definitely freak out.

Some thoughts and being all vulnerable under the cut, cw for discussion of child abuse.

I think my single biggest regret related to SV-240 is making Nathaniel slap Wren in Phobia Exploited. It's the only time he uses physical violence against Wren, and it shouldn't have happened.

I use whump to vent and it's probably very obvious. In SV-240 it's mostly seen in Wren's backstory. Not 1:1, obviously, just... some parts. Like Nathaniel as a whole. My experience isn't physical abuse, but verbal and emotional one. That was the case for Wren too, except Phobia Exploited was created before I started working through my own experiences, and the slap is a reflection of that - of thinking that maybe it's not bad enough. That people won't sympathize with Wren in that regard, because all he went through pre-captivity was growing up with a "strict" father.

Four years later I regret including the slap. I don't know, maybe this post is just to state that yes, verbal and emotional abuse are bad, and that there's no such thing as "not bad enough" when it comes to people's traumatizing experiences. So there's that.

I might change that part of the chapter, or I might leave it as is, I'm not sure. I should probably do the former. Nowadays I'm too tired to write, but it's on my to-do list. Until then, if you read the whole thing, congrats, and thank you for reading my random musings.

It’s okay to just start writing the story btw. Completely unprepared. That’s what drafts are for. Please don’t overwhelm yourself with other peoples advice on what you “should” or “shouldn’t” do before starting because you’ll never create anything. You can just start.
