UTI, anyone?? 🔬
this is a cytology for a urine sediment exam! this poor pup presented for other issues, but on exam, the doctor noticed a foul odor around the dog’s vulva and surrounding fur. the doctor elected to run a urinalysis and this is what we found!
a bunch of neutrophils + chains of rod-shaped bacteria. we can’t know exactly what bacteria species this is without a culture, but the most common bacteria found in urinary tract infections in dogs is Escheria coli, or E. coli - which is a rod so maybe that’s our causative agent in this case! 🤓
