I was thinking about death today
- or -
some ocs i made literally based off of the two words that are their names
Death & Scripture: Who Are They?
• Couple of notes for these two: names are Death (lol) and Scripture. No idea who they are quite yet but they're a silly little random idea that I'd like to explore so here are some things off the top of my head
• Death (they/them/no prns) - Death is, well, Death. But specifically how people perceive them to be. In reality they are more of a shapeless entity- a concept. To call them a figment of one's imagination wouldn't be quite right. Body aside, they are as you and I are: existing.
• The little horse on their shoulder isn't actually white (or more so changes colors). That horse's name is Plinko, Death's beloved pet and best friend (next to Scripture). Plinko is as tall as Big Jake the horse, with a skull for a face. The worm in their eye is named Gerald. He's chill.
• Death is very tall. Like taller than two humans on top of each other tall. And they've always got this light glow about them like something in their bones is alive almost.
• They have two wings, a halo full of newborn stars, and a sickle that doubles as a walking stick. Death also carries with them a bracelet made of dandelions, bestowed upon them by Scripture eons ago. The two have existed and aged together for many years, side by side from the moment the universe was born.
• Many fear death before they meet them, but they are also at peace upon seeing them. Death is neither a cruel being, nor a kind one. Death simply is and does what must be done, bringing those who have completed their life cycles to where they belong.
• Scripture (no prns) - Scripture is. A book. A very big floating book who is half the height of Death. Somehow the two communicate, either through thought or speech (I'm not sure). While Scripture is (in body) a book, Scripture is not complete without the quill.
• Scripture is Death's best friend. The two go way back, existing almost as one together for, well, forever. Death writes things in Scripture sometimes. Those things can be dates, times, places, etc. Essentially a never-ending list of everything and everyone. But Death can get a little sidetracked sometimes.
• Scripture is a red book, with golden edges and gilded pages. Lay the pages out right and you'll see a painting on the side. Death has only ever seen it once, and it was so beautiful, they couldn't bare to think of even the thought of what it looked like again, let alone see it once more.
• Despite being a book, Scripture has what could essentially be defined as "magical" powers. This involves the constant levitation, making the dandelion bracelet for Death, and more unlisted attributes.
• Neither being needs to eat or sleep, although sometimes Death likes to take century-long naps. These naps can cause a little trouble in the cosmos, but not to worry; Scripture can handle things when Death is away.
• The two are a pair, inseparable. Always have been, always will be. From the beginning, until the end. Together, they like to travel the universe, getting up to shenanigans and messing with mortals sometimes (if they're ever so inclined).
