Days off 1/23/23 & 1/24/23
I couldn't wait to clock out at work. Seems like more and more work is being piled on but I'm not allowed overtime at all.
I ran a bunch of errands before going home - including dropping $65 on groceries. I relaxed at home and went to bed.
I woke up and ate some leftover egg muffins and toast. Got ready and took my puppy out for a short walk. I did some minor decluttering while I finished one of my free audiobooks (Libby app rocks!).
I spent a few hours working on my new vanilla business. I got a better picture of what size store is realistic to start with and how much of a deposit I'll need to put down. I also contacted a realtor on a multi acre property. I'm looking at a $400,000 deposit MINIMUM.
My business mentor postponed our meeting but I still sent a 2 week progress report.
Speaking of which, I filed my 2022 taxes and my tax return will cover 38% of my moving goal!
I read another book on the library and it made me cry a little tbh.
I went to bed kinda late and slept really well!
Woke up and decided to a food sensitivity test. I dropped off my sample in the mail.
After breakfast, I took my puppy for a walk. I made a vegetable barley soup and then washed all the dishes.
I drove to Costco for some dog food and ended up buying more stuff than I planned ($113). I usually don't buy anything unplanned from there. I got some work and running clothes.
I did more grocery shopping 🫠 and spent $33 before finally going home.
Made some beanie weenies and relaxed before getting ready for bed.

These last couple of months have been really rough. I got diagnosed with EDS, my rheumatoid arthritis has gotten a lot worse because of the EDS, and now we're still uncovering what all else is wrong with my body. I was forced to resign from my job because "you'd be a perfect supervisor if it wasn't for your health issues". So now i have no job and no health insurance. And the cherry on top of everything, one of our cats died extremely unexpectedly (our precious orange boy, spongy).
Tumblr media
I've been applying for jobs non stop (had some interviews but no offers yet). I've even already sold some sw content to an old client. But we're still really struggling right now. I was hoping I'd have a job by now and that I'd get my first paycheck in time for rent but that's not looking like an option right now.
If anyone can spare anything to help with upcoming rent, bills, food that could really help us out until I find something new. I know times are hard for everybody so no pressure but help would be greatly appreciated.

Days off 1/16/23 & 1/17/23
Left work a bit late.
This past week at work has been stressful but I'm making a positive impression at the location I'm trying to transfer to in Philly.
I didn't do much after I got home. I've been feeling a little sick lately - just congested, runny nose nothing major. So I went to bed. Slept alright.
Woke up and decided to make a garlic naan pizza. It turned out good and was a lot cheaper than frozen pizza.
I spent a couple hours walking my puppy in the park. We had fun and ran into a friend with her dog too.
I went downstairs to the common area for a couple hours to do some more research for my move in the fall.
I've decided that I'm going to live in the city instead of the suburbs and that I'm going to keep my car.
Since I'm keeping my car, I factored in the price of a private parking deck in when apartment hunting. The plan is to downsize to an upscale studio apartment in the city. When I'm escorting again, save up and get a bigger place. Move into that one but keep the studio as an incall.
I've got a solid 5 apartments worth touring in person next time I go.
I tossed out a bag of clutter and tossed a bag of donations in my car.
I ran some errands and bought a cupcake mould.
The next day, I decided to meal prep breakfasts for the week. I made loaded omelet muffins and they turned out great! Later that day, I also made chocolate chip muffins.
I decluttered more and packed up some things like my computer monitor and speakers. I'm gradually starting to get boxes from work for boxes of books. I don't think I'll be able to fit everything in my car. I don't need movers but maybe I can ship my boxes via Amtrak or Greyhound.
I also decided on buying a loft bed for my future studio to utilize the space more. I probably won't have any closets in the studio so I want one with storage space built in for clothes etc.

Days off 1/9/23 & 1/10/23
Left work and bought groceries for next week. Totaled $47.66. I did some decluttering before going to bed. Slept well.
I made a batch of breakfast tacos in the morning. I walked my puppy before driving her to my vanilla job so she could play with some of my coworkers. We haven't run into other dogs lately so it was nice for her to socialize a little. She was wiped out when we got home and napped after having lunch.
I had a quick lunch before going back out. I had my second business consultation appointment for my new vanilla business. It was useful and I scheduled the third appointment. He also gave me some constructive feedback on my 1st business plan draft and 3 year pro forma.
I stopped off at the public library afterwards and got some more books.
I just watched Netflix the rest of the night. Went to bed. Didn't sleep well kept waking up stressing about my vanilla job. I texted my co-buyer about it and once he looked into it, I was able to fall back asleep.
Woke up and made leftover breakfast tacos. Watched some TV, walked my dog - finally got my new Garmin watch working properly and then had lunch. Did some more research on moving logistics and decided I'm just going to try to fit everything into my car instead of towing a small trailer behind my SUV.
I decluttered some more - tossed out another bag of trash and donated a bag of clothes. If I keep doing this everyday, moving day will be a lot less stressful.
I also decided to relaunch my dog walking business to help fund my new vanilla business. I live in a large luxury apartment complex so I'll mainly target my neighbors as customers so I don't have to travel to Denver to walk dogs. Still ironing out the details.
After donating a bag of clothes, I came home and read a graphic novel before getting ready for bed.

My baby centipede molted the other day! Dante is looking more red in color. Can't wait to see how he looks fully grown!
Work was a bit stressful towards the end of my shift. I haven't heard back from the boss at the location I'm trying to transfer to yet. I had a coworker in equal rank proof read my resume so I think it was good. 🤞
I drove home. I'm starting to not miss stopping off somewhere after work. I just remind myself that any money I don't spend will help make this cross country move happen.
Speaking of which I have a first choice for my next apartment. I'll fly to Philly and tour some places in the spring.

Update - 1/6/23
I decided on which department I want to transfer to. I heavily revised my resume and sent it to the boss there. It's too early to formally apply for the transfer and there's no guarantee that one will be available during my timeline but I wanted to at least introduce myself.
I also am decluttering in preparation for the move. I hate dealing with cross country movers (nightmare moving from PA to CO) so I've decided to just rent a U-Haul hitch trailer and driving to PA. This means selling my furniture and paring down on things.
I've had these 3 bookcases sitting in their original box for about a year now. Never assembled them. I won't need them now so I finally tossed them out when I got home work. I think I need to stop holding on to what could be and just do it or don't and keep moving along.
I've been searching apartments online and I'm having a hard time finding nice ones with onsite gated parking.
I have another business consultation meeting in a couple of days. I want to revise a section or two of my business plan before then.

Days off - 1/2/23 & 1/3/23
Left work at a decent time. It was a busy day but at least I got holiday pay.
I've drastically cut back on caffeine lately so I left work with a migraine.
Got home and didn't do much. Went to bed early.
Last week I added up what I spent on groceries last year and freaked out. I averaged $292 a month! I used to be in the $120-150 range.
Since then I've been trying to stick to my old budget and eat through my pantry. Everything I restock is vegan. So far I've made a noticable dent in the fridge and freezer.
I also made banana bread :)
In other news, I decided to move to Philly when my lease is up in September. NYC rent keeps rising too fast for me to earn enough money to move back there so I chose Philly instead. Rent in Philly is on par with Denver rents so looks like I can afford it.
I spent the first day resting at home.
Slept decent.
On the second day, I spent the first half resting before heading out to run errands. I got an oil change for my car, put air in my tires, shopped at Costco, Walmart and King Soopers for pet food, household supplies and groceries.
Came home and had a bowl of cereal before bed.

I just want to remind everyone how affordable buying food from indigenous tribes is. I live in a major city and I was able to purchase and ship (15) pounds of fish from back home to myself for cheaper than I could buy it from a grocery store here in the city. Yeah, shipping has its own environmental factors but I was able to support an indigenous owned business while also getting my groceries at a lesser cost. (Buying in bulk is always a good idea if you’re planning on having something shipped to you)
Some tribal owned grocers that ship:
Bow and Arrow (Ute Mountain)
Native Harvest (White Earth)
Red Lake Fishery (Red Lake)
Wozupi (Mdewakanton Dakota)
Ramona Farms (Gila River)
Tanka Bars (Oglala)
Indian Pueblo Store (Pueblos)
Twisted Cedar Wine (Cedar Paiutes)
Ute Bison (Ute)
Seka Hills Olive Oil and Vinegars (Yocha Dehe Wintun)
She Nah Nam Seafood (Nisqually)
Sakari Botanicals (Inupiaq)
Honor the Earth (?)
Nett Lake Wild Rice (Anishinaabe)
Passamaquoddy maple (Passamaquoddy)
BONUS: coffee :)
Yeego Coffee (Navajo)
Spirit Mountain Roasting (Yuma Quechan)
Birchbark Coffee (Anishinaabe)
Thunder Island Coffee (Shinnecock)

Life update - 12/19/22
Due to budget issues at my vanilla job, my work trip to Seattle was postponed :(
I ended the semester with an A in my business class! On the last day of class, I gave a presentation and submitted my first draft of my business plan. It's almost 40 pages long!
I don't want to go into much detail about my new vanilla aspirations but I recently took some steps to make my business concept a reality.
I filed to form an LLC and EIN so I can open business bank accounts for it. I also bought another phone for this business, purchased the domain name for my website (good for 3 years) and scheduled a free business consultation with a local business center.
On another note, I've found myself isolating further since Aussie passed away.
I ended up getting 2 pet giant centipedes recently. They are doing great so far!
As for running, I wasn't chosen in both Berlin & Chicago marathons for next year. However I got accepted for an ultra in Lake Tahoe next Summer! :)
