Dead groaned a little as Usagi shifted his body a little. As he sniffed her, she felt his gentle breath tickle against her pale skin, her wings giving a twitch at this new sensation. She groaned some more as he continued to sniff then swatted her hand against the side of his face with a hard smack! The entity widely opened her eyes when she realized what she smacked was bigger than a fly. Her eyes opened and saw what she hit wasn’t a mere fly but her dear Usagi!

“Oh, my gods! Are you okay? Does it hurt? I mean obviously a slap hurts but still!” She rambled on as she grabbed his face and inspected the little red mark she left behind. How could the entity be so stupid and lay her hands on her favorite serial killer ever? She will never forgive herself if she made Usagi cry. “There’s no blood right? Should I get some ice? Oh, my darling, I’m super, super sorry!”

Dead crawled over his frame to go to the kitchen and get some ice for the damage she caused. Her hands weren’t going to be cold enough for him. They already caused enough damage!

In just a couple of minutes, Dead would return with ice and laid it on the mark on his face. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Oh, gods…” Her bottom lip quivered and her wings fell to the side. The entity couldn’t even look at him! She understood if Usagi wouldn’t accept her apology or if he got angry with her.

             There   was   an   extended   ellipsis   indicating   utter   speechlessness   as   she   cupped   his   face   and   inspected   him;   his   pointy   teeth   chattering   like   speedy   typewriter   noises.   His   expression   was   a   mishmash   mixture   of   three   different   emotions:   Confused,   hurt   and   angry.   When   she   left   the   room,   a   dumbfounded   warrior   was   left   unattended   just   darting   her   missing   presence   a   thousand-yard   stare.   𝐀   𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭,   𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝   𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐞   𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨   𝐭𝐡𝐞   𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞.   Is   this   what   a   traumatized   soldier   going   through   war-like   flashbacks   feels   like  ?   Usagi’s   been   through   many,   many,   many   fights,   but   this   felt   different.   This   felt   like.  .  .   betrayal.

             At   first,   he’s   simply   sitting   alone   in   his   tiny   little   universe,   like   he’s   waiting   for   someone   to   come   find   him,   until   a   sudden   burst   of   murderous   energy   overtakes   him   whole.   𝐇𝐢𝐬   𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞   𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚   𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠   𝐚   𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐲-𝐫𝐞𝐝   𝐠𝐥𝐨𝐰   𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬   𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠   𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫   𝐡𝐢𝐬   𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐲   𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞.   When   she   comes   back,   her   action   of   dashing   towards   him   prompts   him   into   a   battle   stance,   ready   to   attack;   expecting   another   attempt   to   hit   him.   Time   seemed   to   slow   down   as   her   hand   reaches   closer   and   closer   to   his   face.   Though,   what   was   met   wasn’t   a   slap.   It   was   oddly   comforting.   Cold,   but   not   painful.   No   one’s   ever   tended   to   his   wounds   before.   At   least,   not   with   so   much   guilt   and   concern   on   their   face.

             His   whole   demeanor   completely   switches   by   just   a   blink.   He’s   never   heard   such   a   mournful   apology   before   either.   Usually   it’s   said,   from   experience,   with   sarcasm   or   out   of   fear   of   being   his   next   “  friendly  ”   victim.   There   was   a   moment   of   stunned   silence   just   like   earlier.   Friends   apologize   to   each   other   when   one   of   them   has   done   something   wrong.   At   least,   that’s   how   he   viewed   it   when   spending   time   idly   watching   people.   𝐀   𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝   𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝   𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫   𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥   𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞   𝐢𝐧   𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫   𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭.   He   controls   his   zombie   puppets   like   they   are   one   with   him,   after   all.   Therefore,   he   mimics.   Perhaps,   this   was   an   attempt   at   making   their   bond   feel   like   they’re   sharing   a   soul   like   with   his   obedient   subordinates.   An   attempt   at   making   this   feel   like   what   he’s   been   used   to.   ❝  .  .  .  .   𝑰’𝒎   𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚.  ❞   He   didn’t   really   know   what   he   was   apologizing   for,   but   there   was   something   about   this   exchange   that   truly   felt   like   it   was   missing   in   his   life   until   now.   It   came   off   more   like   Usagi   was   copying   what   she   said;   as   if   she   taught   him   a   new   word.
