DOG'S DELIGHT AT SOUTH BEACH
DOG’S DELIGHT AT SOUTH BEACH
Although it was a morning event the Freo Bark in the Park at South Beach was not a dog’s breakfast. It was more a dog’s delight to see all those lovely pets having a good time. Roel Loopers

THE STUDIO SCHOOL TO OPEN IN FREMANTLE
THE STUDIO SCHOOL TO OPEN IN FREMANTLE
‍A new school that is an alternative to mainstream schooling will be coming to Fremantle soon. The Studio School, that is part of the All Saint’s College , offers specialised education for year 10-12 students with project based learning and creating partnerships between the industry and students. I can’t find where in Fremantle the school will open, but this is what they say about themselves on…

GOOD MORNING TO A MASK FREE SATURDAY!
GOOD MORNING TO A MASK FREE SATURDAY!
Good morning to a mask free Saturday, Freo! I took this photo at 8am of gorgeous High Street, instead of taking photos of discarded masks that were left on the streets last night. It’s going to be a lovely day, so I will try to get some cute dog photos at the Bark in the Park fest at South Beach this morning.

GOOD LOCAL COUNCIL REFORM A MUST
GOOD LOCAL COUNCIL REFORM A MUST
It is interesting to hear that the WA Auditor General believes that the State Government’s oversight of local councils is inadequate and not pro-active enough. A recent report states that moving away from pro-active early intervention and instead have long and expensive inquires, as was the case with Melville, Cambridge and Subiaco, has not been good. The report says that the Department of Local…

HISTORIC FREMANTLE P&O HOTEL SOLD
HISTORIC FREMANTLE P&O HOTEL SOLD
A well-connected West End business man informed me that the P&O hotel on the corner of High and Mouat streets has been sold, but it is anyone’s guess who the buyer is. The Empyrean cooking school in the former Quinlan restaurant and leaving and Notre Dame University’s lease has finished, so it will be interesting to hear about new plans for the building by the new owner. Stay tuned. Roel Loopers

FREO ART BY NATURE
FREO ART BY NATURE
Now that there is a lot of rain around I can re-publish one of my favourite photos of the last few years that symbolises autumn. A fallen leaf floating on a rain water puddle in which a tree reflects. Art by nature! Roel Loopers

WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS, FREMANTLE!
WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS, FREMANTLE!
Is this the way we teach our young people cleanliness and hygene? This drink water fountain at the Esplanade Youth Plaza looks disgusting! We can and must do better than that, City of Fremantle. Roel Loopers

GET READY FOR THE BIG WET, FREO!
GET READY FOR THE BIG WET, FREO!
The wet weather arrived in Fremantle just as I was walking in the Fishing Boat Harbour to buy some fish. I got an absolute soaking so changed my mind about dinner and now the pea&ham soup is simmering on the stove and a book is waiting. Life is good! Freo is good! 🥰 Roel Loopers

The PORT WALK to celebrate the opening of Fremantle Port on May 4, 1897 attracted over 50 people who were given great historic information by CY O’Connor’s great grandson Mike Lefroy. Charles Yelverton O’Connor is a true Western Australian legend, although he spent a lot of time in New Zealand. His great achievements were the building of the Perth to Kalgoorlie water pipeline and opening the…
