We are letting her go today. As I’m sitting down arranging my day, I thought why not post something about her today. Her story is remarkable. Jade was the runt of the pack when she was born. When I originally went to buy our other dog Rubi, Jade and Rubi were the last two puppies left. When I saw them both play together and so close to each other, I didn’t have in in me to separate them so I ended up buying both puppies as a gift for my wife. Fast forward to 10 years later, when we moved out to BC for me to finish school, due to not being able to find an affordable place that would accept dogs and so we left both our dogs with both our mothers. It was probably the most guilty I felt in years. When I left them, I felt so bad. We were told how it affected both dogs. 5 months later, in the middle of a super cold night, someone left the backyard fence open and she got lost. We basically thought she had died as there was a lot of snow and it was below 30 outside. I remember feeling even worse as I told myself I shouldn’t of never left her. A year later, she was found in a park about 30 minutes away from where my mother in law lived. We couldn’t believe it when we heard the news. We ended up bringing her here and have spent the last two years with us. If I were to tell you all the times she got lost or all the things this little dog has been through, you’d be surprised and wonder how she’s survived. Her resilience and strong will to be with us has kept her alive this last year. When we took this photo, I don’t know how much thought we gave to the significance of what the photo may mean for our future. This photo symbolizes that we would look beyond everybody else and overcome any obstacles. This photo shows that we have a vision. Our vision is together and as far as we can go until we are called to be with our Heavenly Father. When I look at this photo and look back at our past eleven years, I’m in awe of what we have accomplished together. The journey to our destination isn’t easy but we continue to learn more from each other. We continue to see that our merits are thanks to each other, to the teamwork we have along with our three children.
