Okie dokie. Here’s what I think. Tay did not hint anything on Colbert. She just..... was promoting Fearless (Taylor’s Version) & having fun Bc she thought it would be funny. And it was!

I’m sitting here listening to Fearless (Taylor’s Version) and reflecting. I was nine years old in 2008. So much has changed in the world, but also in my life, since Fearless originally hit the airwaves.
The first song of Taylor’s I ever heard was Teardrops On My Guitar. I heard the song on the radio while on my way to violin lessons, sitting in the back of my mom’s Subaru Outback. Teardrops was played regularly on radio stations in my hometown at that time. Along with Sara Bareilles’ Love Song & The Plain White T’s’ Hey There Delilah. I liked all those songs, but Taylor always stuck out to me because it was way more relatable to me. Though I was only in third great, & not in high school, I did sometime feel invisible to the cute boy in my class. I remember thinking, “This girl is exactly like me. She knows how I feel.”
Taylor was the first artist that I ever liked on my own. I loved plenty of music that my parents had exposed me to, classic rock from their teenage years, country songs from their youth, or folk ballads that predate even them. My parents were kind of weird about pop music growing up. They didn’t really listen to music from the decade after I was born, & they didn’t provide avenues for me to listen to it either. Not for any religious or cultural reason, they just liked their music better.
For Easter 2008 my grandmother bought me a tiny portable boombox. It was an AM/FM radio with a giant telescopic antenna. I remember spending countless nights that summer and fall listening to the pop/country stations in my town to hear Teardrops On My Guitar, Tim McGraw, or Love Story. I’d never heard any other of Taylor’s songs but I was absolutely captivated by her singles. I always thought she sounded so old and cool, in the way that little kids idolize teenagers. Which is funny looking back because her early music now, at 22, sounds so young to me.
When my cousin got a CD copy of Fearless for Christmas that year, we ran out to my grandparents’ garage to listen to it. I BEGGED her to play Love Story, but she insisted on listening to the album in its entirety. I was blown away. For the first time in my life I heard a collection of songs that sounded the way I felt. She validated the emotions swarming inside me.
And now, I get to relive all those wonderful memories as a grown woman on the precipice of growing up. Thank you so much, Taylor Swift, for the gift of these lovely songs

I really love the idea of all the re-recordings having the same aesthetic. Idk if she will do that, but I think it’d be rad af.
God I’m so excited for Taylor to announce the next re-recorded album because I cannot wait to see the cover art of whatever next album

I think The Best Day sounds the most similar & Breathe sounds the most different.
for science: obviously all of fearless (taylor’s version) is a copycat masterpiece but reblog and tag this post with the song you think sounds the most similar and the song you think sounds the most different

Sharing my initial thoughts & then going to bed (I’ll share more in-depth thoughts this weekend).
1. The more mature vocals make most of the emotions in older songs richer
2. BREATHE IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE
3. My favorite vault song is probably still You All Over Me... it’s just absolutely flawless
4. Superstar needs its moment, y’all
5. I was scared that her not being a teenager would take away the magic of some songs, but it didn’t

I completely disagree with Swifties when they complain about the order of songs on Red. “They’re jarring.” “It’s a bipolar album.” THAT’S THE POINT!!! Have you been in your early twenties? Have you had a toxic on-again-off-again relationship? She wanted that album to feel like that! She went from angry, to bitterly sad, to dancing with her friends, back to sad & angry! That’s what those situation feel like!

Okay my predictions for GMA tomorrow....
1. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) promo
2. YBWM (Taylor’s Version) early release
3. 1989 (Taylor’s Version) announcement
4. Red (Taylor’s Version) announcement
The teaser was so intense that it makes me think there’s gonna be more than just promo in her segment. But then again, announcing a second album before even releasing the first is.... totally bonkers. (I’m not saying all of these things will happen. For sure the first one, and maaaybe one of the others). But she’s been acting unhinged lately so we’ll see.

Okay but long story short is such a funny song. The humor in the writing makes me giggle. The “long story short it was the wrong guy” is, I think, Taylor harmlessly poking a bit of of fun at herself/her reputation for always writing about her relationships. It’s such a smart line and so so so funny to me.

I want Taylor to speak about the line in gold rush that goes “my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door...” because I assume that by Eagles she means the 70s band because they’re my favorite band & she’s a musician... BUT she’s from the Philly area so does she actually me the Philadelphia football team the Eagles??? @taylorswift I am once again asking you to clarify your lyrics, queen.

Here Are My Favorite Lyrics From Fearless
Fearless: So baby drive slow, till we run out of road in this one horse town / This, to me, is a parallel to Bruce Springsteen’s Thunder Road, which is one of my favorite songs and I know Taylor has always been a huge Springsteen fan.
Fifteen: Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday, but I realized some bigger dreams of mine / Not just her dreams, but her reality turned out to be SO much bigger.
Love Story:  This love is difficult, but it’s real / She really used this idea a lot in her early songs.  This is what the entirety of the song Ours is about.
Hey Stephen:  All those other girls, well, they’re beautiful, but would they write a song for you? / No, they wouldn’t, and Taylor knew that.
White Horse:  This is a big world, and that was a small town there in my rearview mirror disappearing now / I grew up in a small town, with which I have a love-hate relationship, so this really resonates with me.
You Belong With Me:  I’m in my room, it’s a typical Tuesday night; I’m listening to the kind of music she doesn’t like / So true, bestie.  Her taste in music is so varied and that’s evident in the way what she listens to has influenced the sound of her own music.
Breathe:  You’re the only think I know like the back of my hand / This is just a beautiful line and I love it.  Also, Colbie Caillat was one of my favorites at the time Fearless came out, so this song has always been super important to me.
Tell Me Why:  You could write a book on how to ruin someone’s perfect day / Again, this is just a clever lyric that I love.
You’re Not Sorry:  You used to sign so bright, but I watched all of it fade / Taylor used to use the word ‘shine’ a lot in her songs and I kind of miss it.
The Way I Loved You:  And he can’t see the smile I’m faking, and my heart’s not breaking, cause I’m not feeling anything at all / The ambivalence in this is such a unique feeling that she captured so well.
Forever And Always:  And it rains in your bedroom, everything is wrong / I LOVE THIS LYRIC SO MUCH, it is sooo funny to me.  The humor in her songs is so underrated.
The Best Day:  And I love you for giving me your eyes, for standing back and watching me shine / There’s ‘shine’ again, and her love for her mom is so pure.
Change:  Tonight we’ll stand, get up off our knees, fight for what we worked for all these years / I mean, c’mon...
Jump Then Fall:  We’re on the phone and without a warning I realize your laugh is the best sound I have ever heard / Laughter seems to be really important to her in her songwriting, see New Year’s Day, and I love the parallels there.
Untouchable:  It’s like a million little stars spelling out your name / I love the stars, plus this is such a beautiful way to express what it’s like to be in love with someone.  (I know this is a cover, but it’s one of my favorite songs from Fearless).
Come In With The Rain:  I’ll leave my window open cause I’m too tired to call your name, just know I’m right here hoping... / Taylor’s voice sounds exactly the way this line means when she sings it.
SuperStar:  I’m no one special, just another wide eyed girl, who’s desperately in love with you / It’s easy to forget how much of an outsider Taylor was when this album came out, but that’s what she was and I love this song for exemplifying this.
The Other Side Of The Door:  And I broke down crying, was it worth this mess, after everything and that little black dress? / I don’t really have a specific reason for loving this line, it’s just iconic.
You All Over Me:  I did, so smile, and I melted like a child / HAVEN”T WE ALL!?
