𝑁𝐸𝐸𝐷𝐼𝑁𝐺  𝑆𝑂𝑀𝐸  𝑇𝐼𝑀𝐸  spent  outside  of  the  house  ,  carolina  grabbed  her  beach  bag  &  headed  straight  for  the  pool  (  the  community  one  for  the  simple  fact  that  her  pool  boy  hadn’t  stopped  by  yet  to  get  the  one  in  her  backyard  going  just  yet  )  .  once  by  the  pool  she  made  herself  comfortable  ,  pulling  out  her  recent  obsession  —   billy  summers  by  stephen  king  (  her  all  time  favorite  author  )  ,  accompanied  by  a  bag  of  hot  cheetos  ,  with  no  care  in  the  world  that  the  inevitable  CHEETO  DUST  would  smudge  all  over  the  white  pages  .  finally  deep  into  the  trenches  of  chapter  nine  ,  when  she  notices  the  sun  has  been  ECLIPSED  by  a  figure  .  “  two  things  ,  doll  ,  you’re  ruining  my  failed  tanning  attempt  and  no  i  will  not  share  my  cheetos  with  you  ,  “  her  blue  eyes  finally  looking  up  at  the  other  by  the  end  of  her  comments  ,  her  smile  making  an  appearance  as  she  EAGERLY  motioned  for  them  to  move  away  from  the  direct  line  of  the  sun  and  herself  .      

*   rome  should  really  just  steer  clear  of  carolina   ;   he  knows  that  ...  but  also  ...  that’s  no  fun  .  curse  his  antagonistic  nature  for  making  him  this  way  !   after  all  ,  it  must’ve  been  fate  that  lead  the  two  of  them  to  the  community  pool  together  .  normally  ,  he  wouldn’t  subject  himself  to  such  a  thing  ,  but  the  sun  was  more  present  here  than  in  his  own  ,  shaded  backyard  .    “  just  seeing  if  you  missed  me  yet  ,  darling  .  ”   his  accent  curls  around  his  words  ,  lacing  his  sentence  with  charm  .  rome’s  lips  turn  upwards  into  a  smile  ,  raising  his  eyebrows  in  provocation  .   “  you’re  going  to  burn  if  you  sit  out  here  for  much  longer  ,  you  know  .  ”

“  okay  ,  it  may  not  be  to  your  michelin  star  standards  ,  but  i  figured  you’d  appreciate  a  break  from  cooking  me  breakfast  all  the  time”. there  was  a  smile  beaming  across  charlie’s  face  ,  soft  laughter  escaping  her  lips  as  she  gently  carried  a  tray  of  breakfast  into  rome’s  room. “  i  couldn’t  pronounce  half  the  shit  you  keep  in  your  fridge  but  i’m  pretty  sure  i  grabbed  all  the  right  stuff  for  pancakes… impressive right  ?  “  she  pridefully  set  their  breakfast  on  the  nightstand  closest  to  him  before  making  her  way  back  over  to  her  side  where  she  promptly  crawled  back  under  the  covers. “  if  they  taste  like  shit  don’t  go  calling  me  a  fucking  donkey  or  something  because  i  promise  won’t  hesitate  to  kick  you  out  of  your  own  house  “  she’s  partly  teasing  him  ,  but  still  makes  it  a  point  to  give  him  a  somewhat  threatening  smile  as  she  reaches  over  him  to  grab  one  of  the  coffees  she  brought  for  herself. “  when  was  the  last  time  someone  cooked  for  you  ?  or  did  you  just  pop  out  of  the  womb  making  five  course  dinners  for  your  family  “

*   in  hindsight  ,  rome  should’ve  known  that  she  was  up  to  something  .  he’d  slept  in  for  a  suspiciously  long  amount  of  time  for  a  morning  post  -  charlie  .  usually  ,  by  now  ,  she’d  be  nudging  him  awake  and  asking  him  to  make  breakfast  .  his  someone  is  using  my  kitchen  senses  must’ve  woken  him  up  ,  because  he’s  pushing  himself  up  onto  his  elbows  almost  as  soon  as  she’s  walking  back  in  with  a  tray  of  food  .    “   is  this  an  attempt  to  poison  me  ?   i’d  rather  you  do  it  in  a  cup  of  tea  than  an  undercooked  flapjack  .   ”    he  teases  ,  sitting  up  fully  now  and  leaning  over  to  inspect  the  tray  closely  .  he  could  go  full  roman  barclay  right  now  ,  sure  ,  but  he  won’t  .  rome’s  appreciative  of  the  attempt  ,  and  it  at  least  looks  edible  .  it’s  not  charlotte’s  fault  he’s  so  picky  .    “   people  cook  for  me  all  the  time  ,  char  .  you  do  know  that’s  part  of  my  job  ,  right  ?   ”   the  remaining  mug  is  quickly  swept  up  and  brought  to  his  lips  .    “   ---  and  don’t  be  ridiculous  .  who  in  their  right  mind  would  give  a  newborn  a  set  of  kitchen  knives  ?   ”   rome  takes  a  sip  ,   “   i  got  them  for  my  first  birthday  .  like  any  other  self  -  respecting  chef  did  .  ”
