Midoriya has no idea the amount of things he gets away with when Bakugo is around, but their classmates have started to notice.
Now that they're rivals/friends Midoriya gets privileges not even Kirishima, Kaminari or Ashido have which leads class A to believe that Bakugo may have other kind of feelings for the sweet green bean.
Of course Bakugo complains and growls every time Midoriya's legs end up over his lap when they're both on the couch and the green haired boy is just too distracted mumbling and writing things down on his notebook to pay attention to his surroundings. Bakugo hisses something about the nerd being such a pain, but he doesn't move or kick him away like he did to Sero when he did exactly the same the previous day.
He not only allows Midoriya to call him "Kacchan" he also gets really mad when someone else calls him that.
One day Bakugo comes from the kitchen looking absolutely furious, demanding everyone to tell him who ate the last protein bar, that was obviously his, only for a nervous and blushy Midoriya to emerge from the other side of the room and tell him it was him.
"Tch!" Bakugo huffs before pinching the bridge of his nose and telling Midoriya that it's okay because he brought more anyway.
Then Kaminari steals one chip from Bakugo's bag the next day and the explosive boy almost blasts his face off after yelling at him that those are his favorites.
At some point, Bakugo starts making lunch for Midoriya; he claims it's because the boy doesn't eat well and is too clumsy to cook something himself, but Ashido has caught him in the kitchen smiling softly as he arranges the food in Midoriya's lunch box with care.
They start wondering when Midoriya is going to notice that he's the only one who can fall asleep over Bakugo's shoulder (Ashido almost did once, but the boy woke her up immediately) he's the one who can scold Bakugo without getting murdered or that every time he spars with the blond he's always careful not to hit him on the face.
Perhaps it wouldn't be such a big deal if it was anyone else, but they all know that coming from Bakugo it's a very blatant love confession.
They're just waiting for Midoriya to realize what's going on.

We have seen Izuku imitate Katsuki many times.. willingly.. and subconsciously..not trying to be like him but just..picking up his habits when things seem hopeless.. and it always helped him push through, made him stronger. But we have never seen Katsuki do this for Izuku.. until now.
And that makes Bkdk..the only both sided relationship with this form of imitational concept. There are two ways Horikoshi portrays imitation which are very different but people seem to put them in the same basket. We have Izuku imitating All Might..Ochako trying to be like Izuku.. We have Hawks admiring Endeavor.. but these are all just that. ADMIRATION. Some of them were not healthy even. Izuku was forced to stop imitating All Might because he was about to permanently lose his arms. Ochako was forced to stop trying to be like Deku because it was holding her back..
But the way Izuku and Katsuki imitate each other.. is on a whole new level and this was intentional Iām sure. Because many fans just group Izukuās and Katsukiās relationships in the same basket as the ones Iāve mentioned above.. but itās far from that. Itās genius really. Izuku and Katsuki donāt want to be like each other. They simply trust one another. Theyāre each otherās closest person and these things.. come naturally to them.
When Izuku is on the verge of losing, he subconsciously starts acting like Katsuki. He starts screaming, cursing.. it HELPS HIM GET THROUGH IT! It never holds him back. This is something Izuku never liked about Katsuki. And yet.. he picked this habit up.
Katsuki.. started muttering in the latest chapter.. analysing.. focusing.. subconsciously.. This is something Katsuki never liked about Izuku. And yet.. he picked this habit up.
Theyāre picking each otherās good AND bad habits.. and it somehow works out for both of them. Izuku imitates Katsukiās moves willinglyā¦ but not because he wants to be like him. But because Katsuki is his image of victory. He trusts him over anyone.
This was for a long time the biggest argument of why bkdk was onesided. āIf that imitation is supposed to be romantic.. then why is only Izuku the one doing it? You say Izuocha is onesided cause Deku doesnāt imitate her..but then so is bkdk.ā
Well.. itās not only Izuku anymore. Thank you Horikoshi.
Katsuki didnāt let SFO break his spirit. He has grown. He learned things.. he accepted things..His eyes are still glowing.. he is still fighting.. this is the WORST situation Bakugo Katsuki has EVER found himself in.. and he starts mutteringā¦ like Dekuā¦
I went into detail of this theory in this post Itās a very long analysis that digs into these two types of imitation we see present in MHA. Itās another reason why I believe Horikoshi is intending bkdk to be romantic. Even if they donāt end up explicit.

Say what you will, but I find it interesting that the climax of Izuku and Katsuki's relationship with each other is lining up PERFECTLY with the climax of the entire story.
To pick one example or aspect, I think it's pretty obvious that at some point, Izuku is going to hold out his hand for Katsuki again, and Katsuki, after all his growth, and after Horikoshi has explicitly drawn several sketches/drafts of this theme, Katsuki will this time READILY take it. He WANTS to take it. (OR alternatively he could be the one holding the hand out to Izuku)
That alone is a theme and a motif of their relationship that needs to be matched on this side of their experience to create the full theme, the complete image of their relationship. That day when they were kids was formative of their conflict. Having it echoed at the end of the story would be informative of their growth and actual admiration and friendship of each other that has grown over the story, and os I think it will definitely play a part in the ending.
Go a little deeper; Katsuki may have apologized for the past and has led the charge in supporting Izuku in the recent war arcs as well as leading the retrieval arc.
But that was never the resolution of their relationship! There are still threads left hanging. There's Izuku's thoughts and feelings on the apology that have not been expressed. There is the fact that he loses control every time Katsuki is threatened(which has now been brought up and (attempted)exploited by the main villain.) There is the fact that Izuku has AVOIDED telling Katsuki any of this. There is the fact that Katsuki was just told that he's basically not even worthy enough to fight alongside Izuku, but rather, barely good enough to be his shadow, and how that probably tore him apart inside, to hear his insecurities surrounding Izuku played back to him by the worst villain the world has ever known.
And we have actively, purposely, not been shown any deep interaction between them in the time between his apology and the current chapters.
There's an entire conversation that STILL needs to happen between these two, the ultimate culmination of their feelings towards each other that WAS NEVER EXPRESSED....
Not before the war, the Final Battles of MHA.
So whatever the climax of the relationship between Izuku and Katsuki, Horikoshi has held off on it, saved it until the climax of the story overall.
Which means....however you look at it...it's going to be very significant.
And it IS the most important relationship in the story, in Izuku Midoriya's life.

*screaming and hollering internally while also harshly shaking my head in agreement+
Iāve been thinking that for Shigarakiās purposes, Katsuki is Izukuās weakness because he is the one person who causes Izuku to act selfishly and without reason, like Orpheus looking back at Eurydice. If anyone else were in danger, Izukuās response would be heroic. He would be able to think rationally enough to realize he could sacrifice himself, and his death would keep One for All out of Shigarakiās hands and keep his friends alive. But Izuku is possessive of Katsuki. All thoughts will be gone from his mind and replaced with a primal, nameless need. That instinct will present him with a false dichotomy between having Katsuki and having and One for All. And he will choose Katsuki, damn the consequences.

Watching/ reading MHA and getting a better understanding of these characters just makes more of a bkdk shipper.
The ship-whether if you view it platonically or romantically-has so much depth, complexity, layers, and it is genuinely a perfect ship.
To Deku still caring and trusting Bakugou despite there past from Bakugou physically AND verbally admitting his mistakes and apologizing directly to Deku, the two are like soulmates in my eyes. Always meeting each other in the middle somehow.
To Deku saving Bakugou in the first few volumes from Bakugou straight up doing the exact same.
Over and over again, they find some way to protect one another. Some way they find there way TO one another
Horikoshi may not make them canon, but he sure as hell made sure that we knew that they are going to be there for each other, no matter what.
Love that for them šš§”
