"True love knows no constraints, no locks or bars.
Past every obstacle it makes its way.
It spreads its wings to soar toward the stars,
No earthly power will make it stop or stay."

I caught you staring
With that look in your eyes
You called me pretty
When I was lookin' fine
But I'd like it better
If you called me 'mine'

🍁Autumn Leaves🍁
I sat by our favorite spot
Where you held me by the hand
Underneath the big oak tree
Where it all began
I glanced to my right to where you sat
And that was when I knew
As we both watched the leaves fall
My heart did the same for you
Now, I glanced to where you used to sit
After seasons had gone by
The autumn breeze rushing past
Wiping tears from my eyes
Like the greenness of leaves
I wished the memories would fade
I watched the leaves fall
As my tears did the same
I see you every time I close my eyes
And chase you even in my sleep
Because how can I move on
When you're buried six feet deep

Another Day
Another day out in the streets
And it is much to my dismay
I glanced at my cup on my feet
Another coinless cup today
Try to forget this growing pain
And this hunger I cannot bear
Now I ask again, my face stained,
Would you have a penny to spare?
Crouched away with an outstretched-palm
And never treated with respect
Just a beggar asking for alms
Would you spare me a piece of bread?
Without a friend, without a home
Nowhere to go, I walk for miles
Out in the cold and so alone
Would you kindly spare me a smile?
Hours pass and the sun descends,
People going their separate ways
And I ask myself once again
Would I survive another day?

I'll be right here
Even if I wait
for an eternity
For the love
You promised me

Your eyes and dream
Will I be
The one you see?

When the clock strikes twelve
Do you run away, too
Unveiling the mask
Showing the real you
With the cover of midnight
On your runway shoes
Can you stop for a minute
So I can run with you

To be Loved Like a Rose
A sweat trickles down my spine
As I stare into her eyes
Like it's the very first time
Looking like a familiar stranger to me
And as I stare deeper
And deeper into the mirror,
It seemed
That a mere little daisy
Would want to be loved like a rose
And it sounds so crazy
She wants to conform
But even a rose has its thorns
Maybe, if she showered herself
With the purest water
Maybe, just maybe
She wouldn't falter and fall
And I watched her walk away
Filled with sadness and dismay
As the door closes
For who would pick a daisy
In a field of roses

i am asked about my favorite color.
i am seven
and my reply is
pink
because i am a girl
and pink
is a princess color.
i am asked about my favorite color.
i am ten
and i like
green
because a boy told me that pink
is lame and girly.
i am asked about my favorite color.
i am thirteen
and i tell them
purple
it is unique and spunky
like i want to be.
i am asked about my favorite color.
i am seventeen
and i just say
red
i do not say
it is bright and angry at the world
as i am
i cannot form the words to express
all of my frustrations
so i paint my lips with
rage.
i am asked about my favorite color.
i am twenty
and it’s pink
i remember the joy
of being a child
i reclaim the freedom
of femininity
because i cannot remember
what my shoulders felt like
before the depression
hung from them.
i am asked about my favorite color.
i am twenty-six
and my answer is
brown
it confuses most people
they don’t see it
they may think of dirt
and dust
and dead things
but it is coffee with friends
and the chocolate chip cookies
my mom used to make.
it is my hair
and my eyes
amber and gold
in the sun
and i love myself
again
