First major campaign I’ve done, 2nd video campaign I directed and did it all remotely.… Feeling very validated in my eye and skillset, and gives me hope that perhaps there is more out there for me.

I do really believe in what I do, I’ll sometimes get faced with things that will deter me from this and it’s true you should separate yourself from your job, but what I do derives from a very innate place in me that when I get to work on these types of projects I feel very connected to it.

This project came at a bad time all around, but with certain opportunities it will never seem like the right timing until after you take it and go with it. And only in retrospect that you’ll feel it was fate!

Anyway, spiritual aside this has been my favouriteeeeee work yet and I hope things like this continues to be in my cards! Can’t wait to see where life takes meeeee

how did u start working in your field?

Hello! I got my bachelor’s degree related to what I do which is a big help in terms of credentials and skills. However, when I look back at how I started, I think I just met the right people at the right time haha.

I’d say I’ve had a specific style and set of interests from the jump that I stuck to which was limiting in a lot of ways, had a lot of rejection, but at the same time I attracted certain opportunities because of it. From there, I just made sure to do good work that counted in terms of my portfolio and absorb what I could, but also met lots of likeminded people who would later hire me / refer me at a different point in time. Oddly how I’ve gotten my jobs have been quite cosmic as they all relate / word of mouth ( also the industry is small ) and I sound spiritual but it is true and for most things in life I think it’s like this haha.

I didn’t do art direction right away, nor did I do internships, but I used to make fake posters/design or write things randomly related to things I liked and share on the internet, which gave me portfolio pieces and freelance opportunities. My first corporate job was in fashion which gave me lots of operational insight, that when I decided to pursue it creatively I knew what it was like to be in it. It also helps that I’ve always had an interest in what I do so it’s very easy for me to speak to it and be friends / work with people who feel the same.

I guess my advice is to work with the cards that you have - in terms of opportunities, skills, people you know, where you can/cant go etc. - because timing/careers and things of that sort look and mean differently for everyone. I literally never thought I would legitimately get jobs lol and it hasn’t been easy but it’s important to be patient, levelheaded and curious… One step always leads to another!

Looking back at this, life is funny but your intuition is never wrong you know...

I got to lead the bedding campaign at work which landed on my lap in a very unconventional way but feels meant to be and it's looking really beautiful. Launches next week. Everything I ever pictured and more, and it feels extremely validating to see the fruits of my labour, and to feel that I am actually good at what I do... or at least in my eyes haha... happy clare!

Both ecomm and editorial is looking nice.... Worked extremely hard on it, and hope it opens doors for me... Will share soon :)

A project around sleepwear / homes would speak to me soooooo deeply…… i think it’s in my cards…. One day
