accomplishments.

erm. hi. it's been a while, i know. i skipped last month's update, so i'll give you a lengthy one for march. truth be told, i haven't been able to touch when twilight strikes for a while. this is not because i don't want to, but mostly because i've been busy with school and/or have been struggling with writer's block. because of this, i made the decision to scrap what i had written for chapter eleven and start (kinda) from scratch. now, before you go and panic, let me explain.

the reason i've been taking so long on this chapter is that, well, i screwed up. i found a (rather large) plot hole that i've been trying to fix, and the solution i came up with was, uh, interesting. definitely not my greatest idea. but because i had already written so much, i kept pushing forward, hoping that things would straighten out and i'd miraculously like the chapter by the time i finished. haha, very funny. as you can tell, that didn't end up happening. i didn't particularly hate what i wrote, i could just tell that it was absolute bullshit. and while sometimes that works, it just was not doing it for me here. so i cut it.

i was able, however, to save a bunch of it for the new draft, so i didn't completely start over, but i am definitely down a lot of words compared to what i had written initially. i'm not super bummed out about it, but i am upset that that means i'm again behind on getting this out to you. i know it's been a while since i've published any updates and hearing that i've pushed things back is probably not very fun, but i promise, now that i've got my plot hole sorted out, things are going much smoother.

i'm currently in the thick of final exams so i haven't been able to write as much as i've wanted to lately, but the good news is that i'm graduating (WOOOOO!) so i won't have any more school work to distract me anymore. once mid-april hits, i'm free everybody.

(on that note, thank you for being so patient and sticking by me. i see new fans joining every day and it warms my heart that so many of you continue to enjoy this story. i appreciate you so much more than you know).

BLANE: TOUCH

Because as much as your touch scared [Blane], it also soothed them. It was such a strange feeling, to be afraid of the very thing that also made them feel at ease, but they suppose that summed up your relationship. So, even though every bone in their body was telling them to run, they stayed until the morning, waking up to the soft puffs of your breathing and your fingers intertwined.

RYLAN: SMELL

But like most things in your relationship, Rylan had gotten used to it. Used to the kisses, which came for free instead of at a price like they'd been taught. Used to the cuddles at night, your body keeping them grounded. Used to the gifts that you'd hand out like party favours, expecting nothing in return.

very late post, but i just wanted to let everyone know that i started a new series on my patreon that centers around the five senses! i've done two out of the five ros so far, with Blane being touch and Rylan being smell. next one will be up in a week and a half or so <33

Hello! I'm thinking of starting an IF story later this year, and am completely new to coding and how to organise a chose-your-own-adventure. I was wondering whether you could share how you organise each route/the story of WTS, please. Love your work!

hi!! if you're overwhelmed by formatting and you're writing in twine, i'd actually recommend writing directly in the twine app. it has a great mind-map aesthetic that can help you visualize things.

but if you're curious as to how i write, i've attached some screenshots below. i believe i've talked about this before, but i'll go over it again because why not?

example #1: sections

one of the most important steps for me when organizing a document is having headers. it allows me to jump from section to section, rather than scrolling through for ages trying to find something. it also helps me break the chapter into smaller sections, which makes things less overwhelming for me.

example #2: choices.

in terms of the document itself, i make sure to differentiate texts with various colours to make things easier on the eyes. i also make sure they are visually different. for example, in chapter ten, i wrote my choices in a purple colour and indented them slightly. i also write each line with bullet points, just so i know the text that follows is part of that choice and not general text.

example #3: if statements.

similar to my choices, i colour my "if statements" in a different colour than the general text. i also indent them further than the choices and change the bullet point that it's written on, just so i can further differentiate the two. for those who don't know, if statements act like flavour text, which show up only if you've completed or met a certain requirement prior to the scene. in the picture below, the flavour text reveals itself if you've been rude to Blane seven times or more. otherwise, you get the general text.

overall: aside from those two formatting decisions, my word document is really standard. luckily, i'm able to keep track of a my branches in my head, so this system works for me, but it goes without saying that it won't be for everyone. as i said at the beginning of the post, if you're more visual, twine (or some sort of mindmap tool) might be useful. hopefully this is (slightly) helpful. if anyone has more questions on this, please let me know! i'm always happy to answer them :)))

p.s. if anyone is confused about all the "<" and ">" symbols, that's just part of my twine coding. i usually copy and paste what i write in word into my code, so this just saves me from typing it.

photo dump of the drawings ive done because i genuinely canNOt stop thinking about wts. i went through a crazy hyperfixation on your story, (a term i do not usually use, but that is the only proper way to describe it. arion did not leave my head once during that month.) then finally it calmed down for a while, then i start replaying it and it is BACK for VENGENCE. i am so obsessed with all of your characters, and i even dragged two of my friends down with me (the last two pictures are of our huntersonas and their respective love interests ab to go to the crimson rouge!!)

the rooftop scene when the player is alone with Rylan and he insinuates he can’t trust us BROKE MY HEART because i literally was stabbed to save him (which when i was playing i forgot the little detail that he’s a half vampire and can heal fast 😭) and like if that isn’t enough reason for him to trust me then i don’t know what else can be….. PLEASE RYLAN JUST GIVE THE PLAYER A CHANCE ! GIVE YOURSELF A CHANCE. 😭

maybe they do trust you and they just can’t say it aloud…? (it’s not their fault they have issues okay !)

i always start these kinds of posts by saying "time flies, wow, look how far we've gotten." and it's true, but it gets repetitive. so this is me trying to make an anniversary post without all that cheesy stuff. bear with me.

on february 24, 2021, i decided to post the intro for this story. it gained traction slowly, and, before i knew it, i was being asked when to expect the demo. it excited me, knowing that other people were excited. and it still does. to know i've created a fanbase (??) is so surreal. even if i don't post on tumblr for a while, or am silently working on an update, i know that there are still people waiting for my return. and will continue to wait, even if i take longer than i expect. i beat myself up a lot for this (if you're on my patreon, you'd know), but sometimes, it can't be helped.

this has been the case for chapter 11 lately. to say i've been swamped with schoolwork would be an understatement. i'm exhausted. i haven't been able to touch my when twilight strikes document for weeks and it pains me. but even then, many of you are kind enough to remind me that it's okay. that life gets in the way sometimes and i'm doing the best i can.

with that said, i usually post some sort of special for my anniversary, but this year, it's going to be late. i've already started working on something and don't want to scrap it, so it'll be a belated present for everyone. i'll keep you all updated as to when this will be.

all in all, this story remains my greatest and proudest accomplishment to date, and i have no plans on stopping anytime soon. i know i've been silent and mia aside from patreon, but i appreciate your patience. thank you for sticking by me. thank you for three wonderful years.

i meant to write this yesterday. and the day before. and, well, yes, also the whole weekend. it's not much of a monthly update when we're already a week into february, but we're ignoring it. time flies; it's so crazy.

i hate to admit it but january was not a good month for me in terms of writing. i really thought my last semester at school would be easy (ha) so i was overestimating how much i could get done. the truth is, i haven't touched when twilight strikes for a while. and it pains me heavily. i wish i was working on that rather than my essays (boooo!!!) but i can't afford a fail when i'm so close to graduating. so, reluctant priorities. in an ideal world, chapter eleven would come out this month. in reality, i have no date. i would love march, but my progress has been so slow i can't guarantee it.

to speak on the little i have written, though, i think it's going really well. i'm diving into some complicated things and while it's challenging, it's also been super fun. i might have mentioned this last month but a lot of things are reaching a culminating point. because of that, the chapter is definitely more plot-driven than fluff, but (don't worry!) at the same time, it's still very character-driven. i don't think it'd be a 'me' chapter if it wasn't. Blane, K and Rylan have whole scenes (K and Rylan are in one scene together, Blane is on their own; i've yet to decide how or if I'm doing it for A and N). i'm really excited for you to read them.

finally, as some of you may know, February is also the month of my anniversary. it'll be three years since i posted my intro post here on tumblr and damn, like i said, time flies. it's funny because i thought it'd be done by now, but hey, here i still am, writing chapter eleven and *struggling* with it. usually, i post some sort of anniversary special, but since i'm so behind this year, i haven't been able to get a start on it. i'm really sorry about this—i was so excited about it too because i know exactly what i want to do. i still plan for it to be released, but just not on the deadline of the actual day, unfortunately. so if anyone was looking forward to that, you'll have to wait.

i've gotten this question before and i feel like people expect a profound answer about my choice—the truth is, i couldn't decide whether i wanted the names to change based on gender or if i wanted them to stay the same the whole time, so i did a mixture of both. Blane and Rylan were merely the more gender-neutral names i had on my list <3

Hello! Considering the Hunter rides a motorcycle, how comfortable are the ROs riding behind them in the same bike?

(gonna write this with a crushing ro in mind hehe because i can)

A: initially very excited until they realize they'll be in close proximity to the hunter for a prolonged period of time. and have to hold onto the hunter by the waist, tightly. but otherwise would be very excited. might take them some time to get used to it though.

Blane: they're comfortable riding a motorcycle. one with the hunter? not as much. not even because of the close proximity, but the idea of not having control of the wheel is a little worrying for them. and holding the hunter's waist? they might pass out. they're too emotionally constipated for this.

N: they'll only ride it if the hunter has proven to them they're a good driver. and if the hunter drives the speed limit. motorcycles aren't exactly their favourite mode of transportation, but they're also very tempted by the close proximity to not consider it at all. (i do think N would look very cool with a motorcycle though).

K: they lowkey think motorcycles look like a death trap but whatever. they'll do it if necessary. the forced close proximity is a little uncomfortable for them but again, if they have no choice, they'll suck it up. it totally doesn't make them uncomfortable because it dregs up feelings they've been trying to bury. totally not.

Rylan: fuck yeah. even if the hunter didn't own a motorcycle, they'd find a way to make this happen. the amount of flirting they can get from this one experience? endless. nevermind the fact that they're starting to get more butterflies in their stomach recently (that's ignored).
