His territory? Oh no, quite the opposite actually. If anyone was in unknown territory, it was Grimsley. Knowing now that he could ease up and relax, the big cat sat down and watched how the Espeon moved; her body language was enough to convey her discomfort - something he’d picked up on when he was a trainer. Cat Pokémon all seemed to have that ( cautious ) aura about them. 

❝ Don’t worry. I was concerned that perhaps the rattling in the bushes was a human. ❞ A strange thing to say when one was a human previously, but to be captured was not a fate he’d be too inclined to take.

❝ Please do continue as you were, I mean no harm to you … miss? ❞

Oh, it wasn’t his territory, then? Sweet! Feeling more relaxed, Estella rolled on the ground, purring at the other cat. 

“I haven’t seen many humans since I got lost, so you’ll have no problem here!”

“You can join me if you want to! It can be boring to wander alone sometimes. I’m Estella. What’s your name?”

Getting used to a ( new ) body was certainly something Grimsley hadn’t expected to be experiencing when he woke up that morning. Cat-like hues constricted upon sampling their surroundings through a Liepard’s natural perception ; a change in colors, a confusing mess of visionary differences - the stress was OBVIOUS as he attempted to adjust to this unusual turn of events. 

; Why did this happen? Better yet, HOW did it happen? The last thing he could remember was returning home from a long night working at his infamous casino. Man oh man, he’d certainly gotten himself into a predicament this time.

Rustling bushes caught his attention - tail held high above a skinny frame. Curiosity killed the cat, yes, but Grimsley was a ( THRILL SEEKER ) and despite having no prior experience to the life of a Pokémon, he was going to battle should he need to.

❝ Show yourself. ❞ He ordered, silently hoping that this wasn’t a human. What was to stop them from capturing him? A Liepard wearing a scarf, patterned with card suit spots, and to top that off, blue fur - the equivalent of a SHINY in the eyes of most people. Rare, valuable and another fine piece to anyone’s collection.

She was searching for berries, using her psychic senses to detect anything out of ordinary. She’d been in places before where she was not welcome.

The voice threw her off guard and she had to get out to face the stranger. It was a Liepard, a dark-type and she had long learned how to avoid those, she was no match for them. Not that she liked to fight in the first place.

“I’m sorry if I invaded your territory, Mister, I’m just looking for food.”

“Oh! I tought you were familiar somehow, at least your scent. I didn’t know you were a Pokémon too!”

She moved her ears swiftly.

“Nice to meet you! I’m Estella!”

“She shone like the light of-Ah she’d kill for me that crap…Long story short she healed me, and I kept visiting and-” Wait a minute, chuckling nervously as he fiddled with the tails of his scarf. 

“You uh…You’re not gonna gossip about any of this to anyone right?” He was already making a fool out of himself as it was, he didn’t want to make him look even more stupid.

“Aaah, so he healed you! that’s cute!” She jumped in excitement.

“Oh, no! Why would I? You just seemed troubled and I wanted to see if I could help!” She rolled on the ground, purring softly.

“You are not wrong… I just hope that some day I can atone for them.”

He withdrew his hand and placed it back into his own lap. His gaze went back to the sky, and shortly a small smile appeared on his face, “Hey, look at that. That cloud looks like an apple.”

He laughed, holding his side as he points out another one, “And that looks like a Pikachu…”

She liked him. His presence was somehow comforting, so she lay by his side. May as well keep him some company for a while.

“Oh yeah! You're right!” She giggled happily. “That one looks like a Jigglypuff!” This guy was fun to be around! She purred as she watched the clouds, trying to see if she cound find another interesting one.

King Michael's Servant: "Well, you were in Beauty Contests, right? Eva said you won Beauty Ribbons before Team Rocket tried to abduct you - she gave me one so that I could show it in case I ever found you. Do you want to see it?"

“This might be a trick, I won't fall for it.”

Estella used Flash! She ran for it.

The human continues again: "Eva lives at his palace now though, so you'd be going home either way. Plus I've heard from her how much you'd make a good queen alongside Michael, working together to help other Pokemon..."

“How can I be sure you’re not trying to trick me?”

This is suspicious.

The human continues on: "Both Eva and I now serve an extremely powerful Pokemon, he calls himself 'King Michael'. For a long time now, he's been fighting against Team Rocket and their attempts to enslave Pokemon. If you come with me, you would not only be reunited with Eva, but you could become Michael's 'queen', both beautiful and powerful at the same time - you can help him prevent others from suffering in the same way you have because of them!"

Estella was naive, but she wasn't stupid.

“That sounds kinda strange. I don't want to be anyone's queen, I just wanna go home.”

“Yeah, I was trained to used telepathy.” Her forked tail swished. “Who you're working for?” She tilted her head, confused.

He growled softly, but held his anger at bay. Instead, he reached out and gently patted the Espeon on the head, both to calm her and to calm himself, “Pokemon are not beings to be… Taken, enslaved. They are alive. They are real… But some selfish people don’t see it that way. The world has plenty like them. But they also have people that want to help them, that want to see them be the best pokemon they can be.” 

“I am unsure where I fall, to be completely honest. Its hard to say when I too have made many mistakes.”

“I hope so, too. She must be really worried for me...” The Espeon let out a sigh.

When he reached out to pat her head, she let him, purring with joy. It felt nice to be petted again.

His last sentence made her look up at him. “But you're really nice, Mister. Even if you made mistakes. I guess everyone makes them.” She gave him a friendly headbutt to comfort him.
