Take a moment just to be still, to be here, regardless of what is passing through you. Recognize that you are the hereness that all is passing through. All the changes, sights, sounds, smells, emotions, thoughts, information, events, births, and deaths are all passing through the ever-present stillness that is here now in the core of your being.

when you practice kindness and i mean seriously, consciously choose it over and over again, it shows. that kind of selfless love etches itself into your laugh lines, steeps like a teabag until your words are inherently graceful. sometimes we spit out that choice through gritted teeth, but late at night when time stands still, the universe kisses your eyelids and promises you twice the love in return.

Journal entry time! TL;DR More fun acupuncture point tid-bits, starting to work in the library, and being more intentional with my time and energy
Alright! We've been learning the Bladder Channel in school, which is the longest meridian in TCM - 67 points! There is a lot to memorize. But here are some fun tidbits and facts!
-You can treat pretty much every organ in the body by treating the bladder channel on the back - each organ has its' own specific point on the bladder channel called a "Shu-Point"
-Fun fact about the Shu-Points! If you are having issues or pathology with a specific organ, oftentimes that is reflected in the Shu-Point. For example, that specific spot on the back could be feeling cold, heavy, achy, damp, etc.
-BL60 - a point on the ankle - is cautioned against use if the patient is pregnant, as using it could accidentally cause a miscarriage! Also related, it can also be used to promote labor if it is difficult, or to help with a retained placenta.
-Also related - BL67 - a point on the pinky-toe - can be used to help treat Breech Presentation Labor! If you don't know what that is, Breech Presentation is when the baby is turned the wrong way in the womb. If born Breech, it could cause damage or birth defects, or even death of the baby if the umbilical cord gets wrapped around the baby's neck.
Fun fact - the World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture as a proven, effective way to treat Breech Presentation Birth. That blows my mind! That means that it has been studied and scientifically shown that acupuncture is effective at treating this. Isn't that wild? That like. Just regular needles. At places away from the uterus - like the wrists - could have such a profound and proven effect on the body - or even a body within another body. Crazy.
In other news, I started working at the school library this week. Honestly genuinely the easiest job that I've ever had. It's a really small library, and barely gets any traffic - so I will have most of the time that I spend working to myself to study or do whatever I want.
It will only be for a few hours a week, but that's enough time for me to study - or dig into some books. I was finding some really interesting books that I'm very curious and excited to dig into. Interestingly enough, there's like at least 6 or 7 Reiki books that I found that I'm interested in. There's also a lot of books related to energy medicine, which I'm interested in. There is also a book about Qigong Therapy with TCM and acupuncture. I am prolly going to look at that first - because I am interested in it, but mainly because the book is normally like $400 and I would prefer to not have to buy it myself lolol
I have been working on spending my time in more... intentional, ways. I feel like in the past I've spent just so much time on distractions or pleasure-seeking - mainly video games. I have decided to take a break from gaming and spend some time studying and meditating and some other stuff, and honestly I'm shocked at how much more mental clarity I have. I'm also more happy - I have more time to do things that I actually find fulfilling and not just pleasurable. And meditation has been going well, too. I have been doing mindfulness meditation, and I can already start to see the benefits and effects from it as I become more aware of my mind and thought processes.
I think that's it for now. I've been busy playing a bit of catch-up now that I'm feeling better and more recovered after the flu last week, but it's been... really, really good actually, and I'm very grateful.
Hope everyone has a wonderful night!
Blessings!

"The difference between don’t wait and non-waiting is like the difference between detachment and non-attachment. Detachment implies distancing ourselves from a particular object or experience.
Non-attachment simply means not holding onto, not grasping, not getting entangled. Non-Waiting is not patience... The experience of non-waiting is more like continuous contact with reality."

The Factors of Enlightenment
One of the clearest and most useful ways to describe practice is in the terms of the seven factors of enlightenment. These are the natural qualities of mind that the Buddha described as the constituents of a proper spiritual practice. A mind in which these factors are fully developed and balanced experiences freedom.
Three of these factors are passive elements. They are concentration, or one-pointedness of mind; tranquility, or quietness of mind; and equanimity, or detachment and balance of mind in the face of change. Three other factors are energetic elements. These are effort, which means the volition to be mindful; investigation, or silent observation of what is happening; and rapture, which manifests as bliss and an intense interest in the spiritual practice.
The seventh factor is mindfulness, the key to practice. The development of this particular quality of mind automatically develops all of the other factors. Mindfulness, noticing the object in the present moment, also has the function of brining these factors into proper balance.
Using the factors of enlightenment, once can evaluate the whole range of meditation techniques and spiritual paths. All of the approaches to practice may be considered in the light of the development of these seven qualities of mind. Some will develop the energy factors more rapidly or strongly. Others strengthen concentration or equanimity more quickly. No need to be concerned with the form of the practice or the words or style of the teaching. Simply see if it will lead to the development of the factors of enlightenment.
It all comes back to mind. Mind is the start and end of all spiritual work. One can examine a path to see what qualities of mind are developed and see if that path will help to to bring the factors of enlightenment further into balance. If so, then use it, remembering that getting caught in further opinions and comparisons of various practices can be a great obstacle to liberation. Relax. Do your own practice and honor those around you with love.
— Jack Kornfield, Living Dharma

Babe, uncomfortable feelings are a part of life. They will come, as they have right now. They will go, as they always have. Then they’ll come back again, but they’ll also go again. There is no ‘peak existence’ that doesn’t include emotional discomfort. So, make some space for it, watch your little show, eat a little treat— a little enjoyment can co-exist with your discomfort. Try again tomorrow.

What's some advice you wish you received much earlier
"When people come to you to establish a boundary or a need or to express hurt feelings, that's a compliment, not an attack. That is them wanting to develop the relationship and trusting you to listen and care to do better. And no matter how sad you are about accidentally hurting them, it's a GOOD thing that they cared to have a hard conversation with you"

When illuminated by the Mirror of Dharma, we see that we humans are all the same: each a mass of blind passions (worldly desires).
If you look into your mind, you will see that it is full of five desires: to eat, to make money, to be popular, to be praised and to sleep. However, you hide them because it doesn’t look good if you openly show them.
We are all “false and deceitful.”
Master Shinran himself had struggled with the question of how to obtain true happiness while being assailed by the passions. He said:
“How grievous! As I, most foolish Shinran, am swallowed in the vast sea of lust and troubled by the great mountain of [desire for] fame and wealth…”(Master Shinran)
In other words, he said “Oh, how pathetic of me! My desire for fame and wealth is as enormous as a mountain, and it torments me constantly!”
Here Master Shinran spoke with remorse and anguish over how tormented he was by his own lust and desire for fame and wealth—yet simultaneously, he rejoiced that he had found true happiness.
Buddhism is all about how we can obtain that same true happiness despite being constantly troubled by our *five desires.
-------------------------------
*Buddhism sums up all our desires into five:
-Desire for food (Wanting to eat and drink)
-Desire for wealth (Wanting money, possessions, etc.)
-Desire for love (Wanting intimate relations)
-Desire for fame (Wanting praise and recognition)
-Desire for sleep (Wanting rest and leisure)
