If the Bureau of Magical Things was brave they’d make Imogen and Tayla a canon couple and if they were even braver they would make Imogen and Lily a canon couple however…they do not seem to be brave huh

Every time that I think I want kids I think about how I’ll either have to tell them that the tooth fairy is fake or figure out how to sneak into their room at night to steal their loose teeth (that’s def not the right word) when I literally trip over air regularly, and that on its own makes me not want them anymore😔

if anybody disapproves of the wga and sag-aftra strikes or is upset there won’t be new content here’s what you can do:
go to disney+
find newsies (the broadway cast recording)
watch it
learn empathy for the overworked underpaid strikers who just want an economically supportive working environment
note that the rich guys in charge of corporations who will do anything to get a bit richer are the villains
note that the rich guys who are the villains have no empathy for the overworked underpaid strikers or the people on the receiving end of the corporation’s service because all they care about is the money
note that the rich guys can drag the strike on indefinitely even though it costs them money in the short term because it hurts the overworked underpaid strikers more
watch it on repeat if you are still upset and/or want more content until the message soaks in
support the writers and actors who are striking so they get their demands met and then the strike will be over
i hope this helped <3

somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.
and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.
I'm not sure if it helps, but it does entertain me

Barbie (2023) really had Barbie say “hey. I know the reason you hurt me is because I hurt you. I’m sorry I hurt you, because you didn’t deserve that. I know you are a better person than this, and you are fully capable of being that person. I can’t change the past, and I don’t think we can be in each other’s lives anymore without hurting each other, but i am sorry and I want you to be happy. I want you to find your identity and love yourself and live.” and then she realizes she’s also talking about herself.
she’s saying “I deserve to live. We both deserve to live.” it is one of the kindest things I have ever seen done to someone and to themselves in any piece of media ever

Little tiny dumb rant that you don’t have to read but I’m slightly pissed off bc I’ve had a plan for like six years of how I wanted to throw a Jane Austen themed birthday party for my 20th because I’ll be the same age as Lizzie Bennett (who has been my comfort character for most of my life) and it is currently my 20th birthday, but I had to let go of that whole thing bc none of my friends are talking to each other because of dumb shit they don’t want to be mature about and all of my other friends from college live in different states😃
Not necessarily mad at them, just like…idk. Shit like this has happened the last couple years and it’s always like right before my birthday which is frustrating. This is such a dumb thing to be sad about too, so I just wanna write it all down and then never think about it again lmaooo
(I am very extremely grateful for my parents however, bc they noticed how sad I was feeling and took me on a picnic so all the love in the world to them 💓💓💓💓)

something about "the picket line against multi-billion dollar corporations refusing to pay all the people who make them money is ending early today because once again the earth is too hot for us to safely be outside (thanks in part to the private jets those same corporations use to go on their million dollar vacations)" makes me want to personally chew david zaslav's face off, actually

This made me tear up a lil🥲
I work at a movie theater.
And personally? To be in the tickets booth, and see young girls, teenagers, adult women, coming in to see Barbie,
the most highlighter pink outfits, some of them coming in with the dolls they’re dressed as, laughing to each other, cheering for each other,
to see the men they’re coming to see it with, dressed in pink, cheering them on, taking their pictures with smiles and cheers in the lobby at the photo op
touches something so deep in me
I can’t say any nuances of the movie that haven’t already been said, but like, fuck man, love is so deep and so kind and to be able to see glimpses of it from behind my little ticket desk makes me a little less nihilistic.

I know it’s easy to dunk on reactionary arguments, but unironically claiming that writers don’t deserve a living wage because a video game you hate exists is fucking bonkers.
That’s like saying “The people who wrote for Succession and The Bear don’t deserve to get paid because of this scene from Velma.”
Denying someone a livelihood because they wrote something you hate is just abhorrent. But this is what happens when reactionary dipshits who don’t know anything about how the industry works decide to chime in because they watched one right wing video about the strike on YouTube.
It’s no wonder why so many studios are trying to replace writers with AI, they’re probably looking at these bad faith arguments and thinking “You know what? They’re right, a lot of the writers we’re hiring are terrible. Let’s just replace them with AI, it’s cheaper and it can write better.”

A note to all creatives:
Right now, you have to be a team player. You cannot complain about AI being used to fuck over your industry and then turn around and use it on somebody else’s industry.
No AI book covers. No making funny little videos using deepfakes to make an actor say stuff they never did. No AI translation of your book. No AI audiobooks. No AI generated moodboards or fancasts or any of that shit. No feeding someone else’s unfinished work into Chat GPT “because you just want to know how it ends*” (what the fuck is wrong with you?). No playing around with AI generated 3D assets you can’t ascertain the origin of. None of it. And stop using AI filters on your selfies or ESPECIALLY using AI on somebody else’s photo or artwork.
We are at a crossroad and at a time of historically shitty conditions for working artists across ALL creative fields, and we gotta stick together. And you know what? Not only is standing up for other artists against exploitation and theft the morally correct thing to do, it’s also the professionally smartest thing to do, too. Because the corporations will fuck you over too, and then they do it’s your peers that will hold you up. And we have a long memory.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking “your peers” are only the people in your own industry. Writers can’t succeed without artists, editors, translators, etc making their books a reality. Illustrators depend on writers and editors for work. Video creators co-exist with voice actors and animators and people who do 3D rendering etc. If you piss off everyone else but the ones who do the exact same job you do, congratulations! You’ve just sunk your career.
Always remember: the artists who succeed in this career path, the ones who get hired or are sought after for commissions or collaboration, they aren’t the super talented “fuck you I got mine” types. They’re the one who show up to do the work and are easy to get along with.
And they especially are not scabs.
*that’s not even how it ends that’s a statistically likely and creatively boring way for it to end. Why would you even want to read that.

during the wga/sag-aftra strike, we may see:
film in other countries continuing as usual, but those actors/writers are NOT crossing picket lines! other countries unions often have rules where they can’t strike in solidarity with american unions.
new indie movies separate from hollywood studios. indie movies can continue as usual too, and may even use union actors if they follow certain guidelines and/or get permission from the union.
awards shows, although they might look different and may be postponed. if there are award shows during the strike, there’s a chance they will just be live conferences announcing winners with no celebrations attached.
celebrities will not be promoting their work during this time— that WOULD be crossing the picket line! yes, this includes social media. they can still post on social media, as long as it doesn’t pertain to their work.
a lot more reality tv. this happened the last time there was a writers strike, and it will certainly happen again.
actors will also not be able to campaign for awards. this awards season is going to be a strange one.
propaganda from hollywood. they are already trying to flip the narrative by claiming they can break the unions, but they can’t. the strikers have the power. stand with them for however long this takes!
