((Shy's bio dad was not a great dude. Like most of the other people who fucked her up, he had reasons but not excuses.

He had issues with mental illness and drinking and his own parents weren't great role models. He loved her, but he knew at least to stay away when he was messed up and not shatter her illusions of what he's supposed to be. When he got back on the wagon briefly, he wanted to be a dad; he'd bring his girlfriends as a buffer, because he thought he'd just ruin everything if he was alone with a kid for very long.

He wasn't a great person, but he was a person.))
