I see people are frustrated with Jay’s reaction and his talk with Hailey, but this isn’t a run of the mill couple fight.
Justified or not, Hailey murdered someone. And is more or less helping to cover it up while the feds are breathing down their neck. Jay has to deal with that truth bomb, all the while working under the man responsible for putting his fiancée in this position in the first place. And it’s not the first time Voight has done this either, the consequences of which Jay is WELL aware of.
Is it really that unreasonable that he’s freaking out and he’s trying to find some way to cope with it? Like yeah, it sucks that they’re not talking, but give the man some time. Haileys been sitting on this for months, letting it destroy her while Jay has had to sit there and watch even though he’s asked her time and again if something is going on. Did she talk to him? No. Did she tell him the truth? No.
He found out because she was so emotionally compromised stuff was slipping through the cracks, he had an inkling, ran with it, and found out himself what the hell was going on.
I have full faith they’ll make it through this, but Hailey does bear some guilt. And I don’t think Jay is trying to punish her, I think he’s trying to figure out how to exist in this new reality now that he knows what he knows. And this reality includes possibly losing the woman he loves the way the team lost Al because Voight let his version of justice cloud everything else.
Cut the man some slack.
