I haven’t seen an ask game for this, so which of the Powers/Fears do you think I’d serve in the Magnus Archives universe?

I ordered metalsmithing equipment and it got here today. Super excited to make more complex things.
Ivan begrudgingly being fed a cookie while trying to look tough and scary is everything I never knew I wanted from a Grishaverse show.

Fedyor, about Matthias: Seriously? This one?
Nina: Seriously? Do I get on your case about Ivan?

Since I don’t want to go for the obvious, I’m going to say that “You Shine” is actually a perfect song for Kaz and Inej.
You’d see a heart that’s fearless and true. From my point of view, oh, you shine.
From where you stand, it might not be clear, but you shine from here.
I’ll be your mirror and you can be mine. Look to me and you’ll see just how you shine.

The whole Jesper Drama of 2021 is hilarious to me because it sounds like something Jesper himself would start. He’s extremely intelligent and can think on his feet, but he’s also impulsive. Impulsivity and curiosity often come back to bite him in the ass because he can’t pass up an opportunity to test the odds and see if they come out in his favor. Even if he knows it’s a bad idea, he’ll often cave to his curiosity and make an impulse decision.
It’s easy to see the show version of Jesper as stupid comic relief, but I actually loved the way Kit Young portrayed him. He’s not dumb at all, but he sure as hell knows how to play dumb to get the upper hand. He’s sharp, perceptive, and highly creative, but he’s also impulsive and prone to acting without thinking or acting while thinking. But there are moments in the show where he slows down and the viewer gets to see hints of just how smart he is behind all that youthful, curiosity-driven impulse. He’s calculating enough to stop someone from identifying him as Grisha, but not cold enough to kill him then and there, especially not when there’s a kid standing nearby. He makes mistakes often, but mistakes seem to be a way in which he learns. Enjoying life and youth doesn’t make him stupid. It actually makes him a great balance for Inej and Kaz, both of whom have almost forgotten how to be young.

You know when you get into something and you’re excited and then the fandom suddenly goes negative really fast and you’re just…nope?

It’s really heartbreaking to hear from newer members (or prospective members) of the Grishaverse fandom that the “old fandom” is so unwelcoming and hostile. I got into it in high school (I’m 22 now, so it was a few years ago by now) and everyone was so lovely and welcoming and patient as I read and discovered more. Hell, even Leigh Bardugo reblogged some of my posts about Wylan being a Mathlete or my yearbook quote being from Six of Crows.
I get that not everyone likes the show. That’s how it goes. I liked the show, but that doesn’t make me any more or less of a “real fan” than the next person. I read the books as a teenager, but that doesn’t mean I’m a better fan than someone who watched the show and then decided to pick up the books. But who are any of us to say what a “real” fan is and isn’t? The Grishaverse fandom I joined and loved didn’t care how you ended up in the fandom. They were just happy to see someone else discovering something they loved. I know I was happy to see new fans.
This isn’t a problem exclusive to this fandom, either. It’s just been very noticeable since the show came out and I wanted to say something. I love the Grishaverse and I’m happy to share it with newcomers. It saddens me to hear from some of those new fans that “the old fandom” is putting them down for being newer and less knowledgeable.

My sister has been making Grishaverse themed scented candles. For the most part, they’ve been great. I’m not a huge fan of scented candles (or strong scents in general), but her Alina candle is awesome. Usually they’re fine, but... she tried to make a Darkling inspired candle tonight and it ended up smelling like Evil Fruit Loops. Or Goth Fruit Loops, as she calls them. I have never been prouder to call her my sister.

I really have no horse in this race, I haven’t read the books, but I see you guys trying to pretend there isn’t an inherent Jewishness to the identity crisis shown Shadow and Bone and I’m not having it.
When I say I have no horse in this race, I really mean it, btw.

Shadow and Bone characters as things your director hates
Alina: Not enough spin/vibrato
Mal: Half a beat off during every dance
Zoya: Too much spin/vibrato
Genya: Nothing, she takes direction well, hits all the notes, she's what the other actors wish they were
Kaz: Is the director
Inej: Disappearing during mic check Every Time
Jesper: When you put your own riff/run on a sequence and they Hate It
Nina: Ever had a director refuse to cast or include you in dance numbers because of your size? You know what the director hates about Nina
Matthias: Having zero clue what he's doing. Literally zero. You gotta hold his hand.
Aleksander: Absolute leading man stereotype

The newest addition to my Etsy. Rainbow moonstone and black sunstone in copper wire.
There is absolutely no excuse and hopefully Netflix finds a new stunt double for Inej in the future.

Shadow and Bone characters as types of theatre kids
Alina: Has played Eponine more than once. Mezzo and proud. Favourite show is probably Wicked or Six.
Mal: Doesn't realise there are composers out there who aren't ALW. Favourite show: CATS.
Genya: Witches, bitches, and britches baby! High Alto, will steal your role out from under you, gentlemen. Favourite musical: Sweeney Todd.
Zoya: She's been in all the musicals, don't you know? Can't believe Alina got the lead this time. Favourite Musical: Heathers.
Nina: Played Tracy in Hairspray. Lyric soprano. Dream role: Christine. Favourite show: Surprisingly, not Phantom. Probably Six.
Jesper: He's either the leading man or a techie disaster, no in-between. Dancer extraordinaire. Favourite show: Hamilton or Newsies.
Kaz: Director, producer, surprisingly good vocalist. Can't dance, won't dance. Was in Spring Awakening. Favourite show: Doesn't have one. Or, well, hasn't shared with the class (spoiler: it's Hadestown. Inej got him hooked).
Inej: Tech level: Master. Has stopped many a crisis before it occurred. Favourite show: Hadestown.
Matthias: Didn't realise the theatre scene existed. Likes Les Mis, he thinks. Favourite show: ????
Aleksander: That Guy. Will actively steal your role. Favourite show: Phantom of the Opera, duh.

This is really long but I saw your photo of you in the sword earrings and they're gorgeous! Where did you get them from?
I got them on Etsy from Velvet Crow on Paper. More than just gorgeous, they’re super comfortable. 11/10, would certainly recommend buying a pair.
Can I offer anyone some pictures of Tybalt in these trying times?

do you expect people to buy you're jewelry?
No. I don’t expect anyone to do anything. I make jewelry because I love making jewelry and I sell it on Etsy because I think some people—not everyone—might be interested in it. But I don’t expect anyone to buy from my shop. That kind of entitled attitude isn’t my thing.
But since I’m getting a bit of a passive aggressive vibe from this ask (sorry if you don’t mean it that way—I used to get rude/hurtful asks all the time), I have to say it...
Your, not you’re.

New pendant on Etsy
This one is inspired by Morgan from Arthurian mythology (I love her dearly).
I'm going to put together a Shadow and Bone playlist. Some of the songs aren’t in English, though, so I’ll translate those (if I can) and add a link for the translation next to the title.
Yeah, that sounds about right.
Watching Shadow and Bone as someone who’s never read any of the related books, it suddenly dawned on me why my sister pushed so hard for me to get a cane with a ravens head...
