I have just started my journey as a novice fanfic writer and writing my first Marvel fanfic which is an into the MCU type genre and mixing my hindu mythology in it. At first I was really excited and pumped up but now I'm having a bit of a self doubt

....

Like I think I'm not good and I should give up I know I should write for the love of it but I can't help but have this insecurity. I loved your fic in Ao3 (already on ch 84 in a day 😅) so I don't know what to do maybe opinion of a fellow writer will help?

I encourage you, genuinely, to continue. For one, I think that any scrap of creation, any scattered words strung together or lines wound around themselves or words spoken or sung, deserve to exist. Your art is an offering of your soul, and your soul is incredibly, inherently valuable. So if you are willing to offer it, the things you create hold that same incredible value.

The insecurity is kind of a part of it. I feel inadequate too, pretty much every day, but on good days I can put it in perspective. We feel disappointed in what we create because we have good taste! We are servants of a higher artistic power, and we know what perfect art looks like to us, and we're always striving to reach it. So inevitably, our own offerings of art fall beneath our standards. It's because we love art that we scorn our own. But our creations are our footprints toward that gorgeous, perfect taste we've spent our whole lives cultivating. And they are worth it.

Every word you write makes the next word come easier. Every single sentence you string together makes you more skilled at stringing together the next one. No word is a waste. No story is undeserving of being put into the world.

And if you need to give up, that's okay, too. It's not a personal failing. Your art is a service to you, and only you have the ability to decide when it's no longer giving you anything of value.

Write! I'm sure it'll be stunning. :)

Hi!!! Thanks for the ask. Genuinely, I have no clue when my leviathan of a fix-it will be completed... I'd estimate I have at least another 100k to go, (but it's me, and I always end up over-doing it, so that might be closer to 200k) and I haven't been able to write as quickly lately. who knows!

I love the infinity stone theme but the gold thread I’m using to see headbands is impossible to work with and is driving my head in.
