Time
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown Waiting for someone or something to show you the way -Lyrics - Pink Floyd

1930′s in the Southern USA. I found this photo in some of my dad’s thing that was left me after his death. He is on the right and his cousin is on the left. I remember the stories he told me about life during the Great Depression. He would place bits of paper or card board in his shoes to cover the holes in their sole. He had one shirt and a pair of pants that didn’t have holes or tears in them. He would wear them only for church or something special. The rest had patches covering the holes or stitches. That’s if they had any material or thread to cover the holes. He would hop on a train that came by his grandfather’s house to ride into Little Rock, Arkansas. He would try and sell newspapers at 3 cents each. He would get one penny for everyone he sold. He showed me the area that he would walk trying to sell them. He covered all of downtown Little Rock. They would get ration stamps for gas and food. He said it was tough, but he did have small moments of fun to remove the worries of everyday life. This may have been one of them. He said life was simple but there were times of struggle.

I've just closed my eyes again Climbed aboard the dream weaver train Driver take away my worries of today And leave tomorrow behind -lyrics - Dream Weaver by Gary Wright
