if i make it to old age i think my worst fear is becoming angry and upset at everything. it's so easy to undo your legacy. My grandfather used to be like- my primary male caretaker when i was a kid. he was very widely respected and loved by my family and community. But the way he's acted as he's gotten older has honestly sapped any love i had for him.

You can only listen to someone say that you're only purpose as a human being is to have children, to be an incubator, so many times before you just don't feel anything for them anymore. while my brother got career advice in college- i got told that i better find a husband quick because it was the only time i was going to be around so many men. that being a teacher was the best career for me because i could still have a family that way.

Am i not worth more than that? Did he see me as an incubator when i was 5? Was any of the love actually real? i don't think the men that raise you even see you as human.
