Superheroes Needed
It all began with a simple question: If you had a chance to change this world, what would you do? After signing off a whatsapp conversation with the words, “superheroes are needed,” this question popped up in my mind. God was up to something. It seemed like a good survey question, so I sent it out to a couple of friends via whatsapp, not knowing what to expect and waited for their responses. As…

An introvert’s guide to networking
I recall having a conversation about introversion with a young man during an exhibition at Gallery 1957 in Accra. His first words to me upon saying hello were “are you an introvert or extrovert”. Honestly I struggle to answer this question because I am a bit of both, though I find myself being more introverted. So the question is who is an introvert? Without typing out a lot of psychology…

Count your blessings not your fears
Are you familiar with the concept of gratitude journals: journaling testimonies and things you are grateful for? If you haven’t I highly recommend you begin doing this. One of the biggest reasons is that, we as humans tend to forget all the good things in our life and become increasingly ungrateful once problems show up. Many people can experience a lot of good things from God, and forget it all…

Fear is like a terrible business negotiation
Have you ever been in a business negotiation with a skilled negotiator bent on giving you a terrible offer? A situation whereby the other party is solely interested in winning even if it’s at your loss. Hopefully you have never met someone as greedy that, but if you have, that’s exactly how fear works. Fear keeps pushing, making its offers, painting pictures of what could be; it’s goal is to…

What I learnt about asking God for daily bread
This article was from a mini message I shared at Hope City Church in 2019. 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Introduction What I want to share today is on the subject of Daily bread and devotions. Honestly it was a surprise to me when I felt led to write this, because for a while before my internship I had stopped doing my morning devotions. The bible verse for this message will be taken from Matthew 6:11 which…

What to do when you lack boldness
Have fear and anxiety ever tried to keep you from fulfilling God’s purpose for your life? If yes, you aren’t alone. Fear and anxiety can drain a person of all their energy and place them in deep distress. They can paralyze a person to the point of idleness and extreme fatigue; all of which makes a person want to give up on their God-given dream. In this article, I will share with you two…

What to do when you're outnumbered by problems
I find it amazing that countless times in the Bible, God tells us not to fear and to trust Him. The question is, why will God tell us to trust Him and not fear when realistically we have every single reason to be afraid? God says we should trust Him, because He knows that in our strength we can never oppose the various problems and fears we encounter in a day. Many times in the Bible we are told…

My work is about (creating) Beauty from Chaos. The transformation of found objects /debris to art is symbolic of our transformation from seasons or states of chaos to beauty. Each piece is a work of hope and optimism. Chaotic seasons don’t (have to) last forever🙏🏽. —- My work is influenced by both the worlds of art and fashion; in this experimental photograph, I try to capture both influences. — Untitled (WIP) 2022 Bicycle tires, tire tubes, rivets — #tiretubes #bicycle #bicycletires upcycling #africanart #africanartist #africanartcollector #contemporaryart #contemporaryafricanart #art #sculptureart #artcollector #artsy #artwork #artoftheday #delaanyah #accra #sculpture (at Accra, Ghana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CfvwFtnjgEO/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

How unfaithfulness kills our creativity
How unfaithfulness kills our creativity
In late 2020 I was honored to be on a group call with Virgil Abloh where I had a chance to ask him some questions about his creative process. After this call a friend who had asked a similar question about how a creative can juggle many roles called me up: this led to a series of private talks on the matter.  Picking a title  Many creatives, most of whom are self-taught, feel forced to pick a…

Oh my goodnezzzz, one of my sculptures wrote me a poem☺️. Imagine if your work could tell you how it felt about you. Touching touching! For real though, I took a break, and went to the studio later and saw one piece “staring at me” gently begging me to work on it. That inspired this poem. Been a minute since I wrote. #saturdayvibes . . #poem #poetry #artist #artistsoninstagram #africanart #writersofinstagram #writer #writerscommunity #writersofig #art #studioadventure #delaanyah #accra #ghana #poetrycommunity (at Accra, Ghana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdREQYkMti_/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Before I begin, I don’t recall what I was saying in this picture😁. This project (new slaves-behind me) was where the transition to black began. I started priming my jute sacks in black paint, and using less collage materials and colors. It was freeing. I started embracing the ideas around minimalism later on. More for me, no longer meant better…and decluttering meant getting rid of ideas and forms without losing the significance of my message and aesthetic quality of my work. . . #africanart #contemporaryart #contemporaryafricanart #africanartist #art #minimalism #minimalist #lessismore #black #art #artsy #delaanyah (at Accra, Ghana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdMANM3M3wE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The checkered patterns, inspired by my previous forays into the world of fashion, remind me of the game of chess. Each move is carefully calculated, it’s all about strategy and so is life. Self discovery is filled with a series of strategic moves, that draw us closer to the person we seek to be and desire. I call this piece “Journey to the west” inspired by musing of my childhood watching the show. . . #checkered #africa #africanart #africanartist #contemporaryart #contemporaryartist #contemporaryafricanart #tiretube #upcycling #upcycle #black #afro #checkeredpattern #delaanyah #accra #ghana (at Accra, Ghana) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdJadroMcB4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
