Continuing...ongoing...life
I have had a lot happen to me this year and now we’re over half way through and I’m hoping to GOD that it’s all going to slow down a bit, medically anyway!
I had surgery on my eye (got a virus/went into my first DKA/triggered blood vessels and issues with my eyes, especially my right) and all went well.
Developed a hemorrhage in my right eye due to excessive coughing from my second round of COVID (sigh) and caused my vision to be blurry/foggy and was signed off work for 7 weeks (SIGH). That same day I was told the holiday which I had been desperate for had to be cancelled because they didn’t want more trauma to the eye to happen...(ARGHHH).
Returned to Southampton and they confirmed that my eye is okay and that it does happen after surgery, had another bleed but this has been contained as I had some injections in my eye (not as scary as it sounds!) and some laser treatment which has helped a lot! Another 2 injections should help. Vision is still slightly wonky but told this is normal, will take time and isn’t a concern - YAY!
The likelihood however is over the next two years I could develop cataracts and will require surgery AGAIN.
Medically, life has been very challenging but I’m still fighting!

Apologies
Hello, I know I’ve been out of the loop and off Tumblr for a while but this is all due to a lot going on in life and not enough time to just, breathe.
I posted about having diabetic retinopathy in both eyes and I have recently had surgery on my right eye to fix some of the on-going issues. My left eye luckily is doing well and will only require laser treatment occasionally due to good diabetic control (yay!).
The surgery all went well, I currently have a gas bubble in my eye to help protect and heal. The issue was that the laser treatment which creates scar tissue to stop the blood vessels developing (thus damaging my sight) was now pulling on my retina and distorting my vision and causing damage to my eye. I have to do a lot of eye drops for about 4 weeks and have the gas bubble removed soon - however much of a pain it is, it will all be good very soon!
Lots of love to anyone that’s had this, dealing with it, terrified of it... it was a scary time but now I’m on a positive road to recovery!

I might have the ‘rona’
LFTs all showing different results - 0800am NEG, 1135am POS, 1145am POS only faint line, 1325pm NEG and 1615pm POS only a very very faint line.
Told to isolate until Sunday and I’ll get a PCR. Thought I could make it to 2022 without COVID but looks like it might have just caught me!

Positive news, I guess..?
Went for my eye check up today to see if the laser eye treatment is helping with my diabetic retinopathy and with my left eye, there is significant improvement and the laser should keep things good for a while and if my HbA1c stays good, that’ll help!
Unfortunately my right eye is pretty fucked and the laser is helping but there is a lot of damage... So I am to continue with some more laser to help it best I can but I might have to have eye surgery which scares the be-jebus out of me...I’m hoping it won’t come to that!

cake.
Holy hell I’ve had a lot of cake this week...eek.
It was my 28th birthday on Tuesday and the boyf got me a sugar free lemon drizzle cake (AMAZING) as well as me buying a full sugar chocolate one!
A friend took me out for a belated birthday cake catch up, had afternoon tea today which involved a hot chocolate and guess what? MORE cake.
It’s my boyfriend’s 35th on Monday so made him a full sugar, chocolate fudge cake topped with Bob’s Burgers decor!
SO. MUCH. CAKE.
Sugars have been a little higher than usual but not awful, considering...
