Axe of the Day - Hamer Blitz Bass . Ordered this one to be made just for me back in 1982 (3?). It is American made, and all the dings and wear and tear are mine. This replaced my Rickenbacker 4001 as my main bass. This bass is from when I actually played in bands, live and in person! If I wasn't at rehearsal or on stage, this was still around my neck being played. I literally walked around the house with this on. . I kind of miss those days. My last gig was with The Skulls at the end of the summer in 1991, thirty years ago. I didn't start playing again until about 7 years ago, and decided to take up guitar. . Anyway, this is a deep blue with the carve outs around the perimeter front and back in black. It has Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pickups, two volumes and a tone, all of which are dimed at all times. Just sayin'... . Axe of the Day - Rogue Sitar Guitar . When I saw this one, it was mine before I even played it. Not even a question or doubt in my mind. Not a very common sight, for sure. Apparently, it is a Rogue copy of the Danelectro model. There are other versions out there as well. They all go for Hella $$$. Thus one did not! Hence, it's addition to my collection. . It has three pickups, with a volume and tone for each. The usual bridge and neck positions, and a third under the sympathetic strings. These can be strummed as well. There is a small plate that extends from the bridge that just touches the strings, causing a slight buzzing, which gives the guitar the Sitar vibe. I have the guitar in Drop D tuning, and the harp strings are tuned chromatically from D to D. I think I will modify that to be more of an open D resonance, but this works, too. . Axe of the Day - Samick Greg Bennet Design 5 string Bass . I passed this one by probably a half dozen times before I even took it down and played it. It was used, hanging on the wall, and it just didn't move me. I rarely looked at natural finish guitars, so it really wasn't my jam. . Then one day I played it. And I bought it. Such a nice instrument. The neck is amazing, smooth and fast. The pickups are Duncan Designed, which I normally would mark for swapping, but these just sound great. . It has a nice simple active preamp control scheme, with bass, treble, blend, and volume. .
