I was thinking about how to describe eighth's fighting skills, and in addition to my "he was either self-taught for most of his tenure as an inquisitor, or didn't listen to instruction" thoughts, I also think his survival at least partially amounts to "the last one left in dodgeball because of the dodging skills". It probably wasn't all that, because there's no way you coast for 16 years on luck alone, but still.

I just got finished with the game and I want to say a line of dialogue I really love is when Kata asks Merrin about dancing :^) I can totally imagine Merrin dancing with Kata who is standing on her feet since she's still a kid
Tumblr media
That would be really cute! Nightsister dancing should definitely include kids-standing-on-toes. (Cal offers to try it with Greez and gets assigned dishwashing duties for the entire week)
All the post-game conversations with Kata are so good. She's inquisitive and interested in the galaxy beyond her own experiences, while still navigating her own grief. But she was also immediately comfortable with Merrin and wants to learn from her - like in their conversation about dancing.
For Merrin, she likely sees a bit of herself in Kata and offers her the warmth and sincerity that Kata needs right now. Makes me excited to see how their relationship develops in the third game.

"what if they portray the jedi as oppressive 😦😦😦😦" hey buddy. hey. hey. what if the person saying that is the villain? hm? what if the narrator is the villain and he's clearly an unreliable narrator? what if he's fucked up and most of the show is the jedis proving him wrong? what if they were reading something out loud? what if it was a quote taken out of context? have we considered that? sit down and drink some tea with me hmmkay?

Are you trying to work a muscle but can't quite "feel" it?
The eccentric (negative) portion of an exercise seems to be good for feeling the muscles being worked as they stretch.
Start with an easier variation that you can easily control and try it out!
This is sometimes used as a recommendation to fix things like scapular winging.
Note: form also plays a large role! For example, bringing your shoulders back and down before a pushup helps you feel your chest muscles. The same form cue also seems to help people feel their lats in pullups too.
Hope you're well!

When I was younger, I wish someone had told me straight-up that not all adults experience “a calling”. That many of them never find particular purpose in a career. That sometimes, their job is just what pays the bills and they have to seek satisfaction and fulfillment elsewhere.
Because as an adult, this pervasive notion that there exists a perfect path for everyone, that people should love what they do, and that work is meant to function as a vehicle for fulfilling a person’s grand life destiny is not only inaccurate for many of us, it can be toxic.
The ideal is so ingrained that I have to remind myself constantly I’m not a failure because I don’t adore my job, and because I’m not rocking the world with my work. That is okay.
Sometimes, work is just work. There isn’t always a perfect career path, magically waiting to be discovered. There might not be this THING you were born to do. Sometimes, you discover that what you really want to be when you grow up is “paid”.

How did you figure out your chronology?
I started by following the Baring-Gould chronology, but then realized that he's decided Watson gets married 3 times. I wanted to figure out a version where Watson only marries once, to Mary Morstan, so I sorted the stories by references to his marriage and engagement. Sometimes Watson gives a date for the stories, which I tried to honor as much as possible, but he's not very reliable (he literally places one story during the time that Holmes is supposed to be dead!) so I didn't feel too bad ignoring the dates when it fit my purposes.
And then I tried to place the stories in a framework that built up their relationship. Watson's hero worship slowly changes to something more domestic and familiar. Holmes's need to cultivate mystery and said hero worship changes to teasing Watson and expecting (and loving) to be teased in response. There's also an arc of Holmes going from an eager-to-impress young man who doesn't feel the weight of his cases very deeply - a Holmes who lives outside the world as an observer, rather than in it - to a man more set in his habits, more eccentric, and more affected by the world (references to his cocaine use and eventual weaning off of it were helpful here). I wanted to explore how loving Watson would bring him into the world, and the weight that comes with that!

Part two of CHARLES AUGUSTUS MILVERTON (part 1 here) - this story really truly has everything and I haven’t even gotten to the crime yet. In the last entry I went off canon, but this update is almost all line for line in the book…why are they like this
(This is part of the Watsons sketchbook series!)

THE ADVENTURE OF CHARLES AUGUSTUS MILVERTON - part one of several, because this is one of my favorite Holmes stories! Ever since I read it I had a feeling there was something more...personal...going on with Holmes's hatred for Milverton than simply a principled stand against blackmail. A lot of this is directly pulled from the books but of course I took it in my own direction!
This is in the Watson's sketchbook series, and specifically references the Hound of the Baskervilles entry in that series :)
also thank you to my friend Phoenix for reading this when it was in sketch phase and reassuring me that it made sense!

Longing (The River of Ash)
This one is for you two @ivvmell @ominouspuff cause you both chose the same palette for Fox. The vibe changed midway through so I ended up taking a lot of liberties with the execution
I probably won't be taking any new requests cause a lot have piled up and I'm not even sure I can finish the ones already there. Just a heads up
