eyyy so I've also fallen down the bg3 rabbit hole since it released on console, so that's what I've been spending every waking moment of my life doing. will continue until I finish, you know, tis the ✨ gamer life ✨

but when I finish I'll probably consolidate my characters (again) into yet another multi and likely throw some bg3 in there (and bc critical role, dragon age, and bg3 muses can all nicely overlap into verses)

the words weigh heavy, because vax knows how difficult scanlan finds them. playful, deceitful scanlan, who lies to everyone and himself. vax can only imagine the layers of feelings banging around in the gnome's head, and he almost wishes he could quiet them, but... damn, if it doesn't feel good to hear.

the rogue peers through the darkness of the room, broken only by the scattered remaining flames in the fireplace that cast shadows and shapes upon their faces. he doesn't want to pressure scanlan. doesn't want to box him in, tie him down, wrap so tightly around him in fear of suffocating him. ( what if he leaves again? )

a soft smile twitches against his lips — he hadn't realized he had been waiting to hear it. some kind of reassurance. something that sounds like a promise. he shifts closer to lean into scanlan's side, head bowing to nuzzle against the top of his head. he has no words, if only a whispered 'thank you.'

they have to grab moments of respite when they can. days where the pace isn't frantic, where they have the time to rest, even for an hour or two. and with all the shit holes they tend to occupy, a shady spot beneath a tree in a meadow is paradise. vax rests fully on his back, arms and legs starfished cutting space among the tall grasses, head in a druid's lap. and, of course, being in the grips of a druid, vax knows his hair is not safe from her playing.

and sure enough, he feels her fingers through his hair, gently fanning it out across her lap and deftly weaving druidcraft flowers into the dark, thick strands. he can't help but smile in his dreamlike state.
