listen i just needed to write for these two bc i hc them to b close okay >:000 /lh

a shriek ripped through the mansion, startling its inhabitants. there was a slight collective groan - the brothers were not currently in the mood to deal with... whoever that was. whatever that was.

the second oldest perked at the sound, his first instinct being to run. maybe it had been the dead silence in the house the past following days, or the haunting and fresh memories of the war, but he had a distinct urge to escape.

another scream echoed in the halls, and mammon relaxed a bit as he remembered where he actually was. he stood, knowing his mourning brothers would refuse to leave their rooms for the kid, and head toward the sound.

the very first thing he had to do upon seeing the source of the noise was to dodge a chair being hurled at him. he tsked, narrowing his eyes at the boy who was angrily stomping around the living room. they made eye contact - and suddenly the blonde froze.

surveying the damage, mammon pursed his lips at the kid, giving him a disapproving stare. the boy glared right back, daring the second eldest to challenge him.

"y'know you're gonna have to clean this up, yeah..?"

the kid seemed briefly surprised at his lack of rage, but quickly huffed and crossed his arms crossly.

"what if I don't? why do I have to listen to you?"

mammon mirrored him, crossing his arms and sticking his tongue out at the nameless child. they seriously needed to figure out what to call him. it had already been a few years since their fall, and he was getting tired of referring to him as "the kid" or "brat."

actually that gave him an idea.

"becauuusse." he drew out, smirking as he came forward to bonk the fuming child on the head. "if ya don't, I get full rights to name ya! you do need a name after all.."

the brat seemed unconvinced, so mammon hummed, placing a finger on his chin. "i'm thinkin'... Goldie!" he didn't know why that name came to him, but he rolled with it. "it fits your hair! and it matches that human world story you seem to like so much!" he grinned slyly down at the boy.

'Goldie,' mammon internally laughed at the name, turned pale as a sheet, immediately set to cleaning up the absolutely messy living room. the second eldest cheered him on, teasingly using the new (temporary) name. the boy yelled at him the entire time, flushed an embarrassed pink, until the room was finally at least somewhat reorganized.

it was when the couch was finally put back in place that the kid tackled mammon, not quite knocking him over, and bit his arm. the sleeve of the sweater didn't allow his teeth - there was uncannily sharp canines on this kid, holy shit - to sink in, but there was definitely the pain. mammon yipped, all but smacking the kid off him. a barking laugh escaped the boy, victorious over his brother.

mammon huffed, glaring playfully at the kid. "so that's how you wanna do this, huh?"

another groan came from the inhabitants of the house as the sounds of their chase replaced the previous silence.
