The Inverse Proportion Of Worldly Wealth
When trust in worldly wealth replaces trust in God who is eternally trustworthy, we will experience an inverse proportion that will leave us sad. But there is also a way to realize the proportional blessing of God that is without earthly comparison!

Guilt Constricts Leadership
Without a doubt, a leader plagued by feelings of guilt is a leader that is operating well-below his or her full potential. Karl Vaters and I discuss how to overcome this constrictor.

Takin’ Him To Main Street
Jesus commissioned His followers to take the message of His forgiveness to everyone everywhere. We are to start in our hometown, so let’s talk first about takin’ Him to Main Street.

Links & Quotes
Some links and quotes that caught my eye this week.
Jesus asks us to proclaim the message about Him, not argue about Him. The best witness is one who truthfully shares his or her personal life-changing experience with Jesus. There is never a reason to quarrel about this! Check out this whole message here. I have lots of new content every week, which you can check out on my YouTube channel. “In 1977, 40 years after arriving in Guatemala, the…

Our Safe Healing Place
David knew the release and healing that would come after he poured out his complaint in God’s presence.
I cry out with my voice to the Lord; with my voice I implore the Lord for compassion. I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare my trouble before Him. (Psalm 142:2) David knew the release and healing that would come after he poured out his complaint in God’s presence. The injuries others have done to us afflict our thoughts and emotions, and we need a safe place to get that poison out of our…

The Standard Of The Leader
Good leaders hold themselves—at a minimum—the same standard for the rest of their team. But the best leaders hold themselves to an even higher standard. Check out this humorous story that makes this point so clear.

Profound Humility
John was too focused on making sure people saw Jesus that he had no time to think about himself.
When something is recorded in all four Gospels, we should really take note. Look at the profound humility of John! His birth was foretold by an angel, his ministry was so powerful that people wondered if he was the Messiah or possibly Elijah, yet he never let all these accolades go to his head.  “I am such a lowly servant of Jesus that I don’t even have the right to take off His sandals.”  As…

The Catalyst Of Our Witness
The Holy Spirit uses a Christian’s witness as the catalyst to open people’s minds to receive the forgiveness that Jesus made available and then to repent of their sins.

Links & Quotes
Some links and quotes that caught my eye this week.
The devil wants us to remember what we’ve done or what we still need to do, but Jesus wants us to remember what He has already done. There is a huge difference! Check out this whole message here. I have lots of new content every week, which you can check out on my YouTube channel. “The most likely man to go to hell is the man who has nothing to do on earth. Idle people tempt the devil to tempt…

Who Looks Good?
This many seem like an obvious question—who exactly am I trying to make look good: me or Jesus?—but a biography in the Gospels caused me to ponder this question in a different way.

Takin’ Him To The Streets
Jesus has called Christians to take His good news to every person on every street—from easy street to skid row, from Wall Street to Main Street, and every street in between.
Just before Jesus ascended to Heaven, He told His followers that they would have the joyful responsibility of taking the good news of forgiveness and eternal life to all the highways and byways of every nation. Later on, Paul would get more specific about all of the groups to which he was taking the message of Jesus (see Luke 24:46-47; 1 Corinthians 9:20-22).  That commission is still in effect…

Purposeful, Present Power
Have you ever wondered why you’re here, and not in heaven? You’re not there because God needs you here. He has a purpose for you right here and right now!
My friend Tom Kaastra shared an encouraging message to our Calvary Assembly of God family today.  Tom linked together the doxology in Ephesians 3 and the prayer in Ephesians 1, noting that the key word in both passages is power. He also reminded us that this is power in the present tense, so the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is the power that is at work in you and me right now.  This…
