the way the war in gaza has been constantly about targeting flour, targeting hospitals, targeting universities, targeting water containers, targeting anything that brings life in order to "thin out the population" and "encourage palestinians to move to tent cities in egypt"
and then you have western media readily calling it a "humanitarian crisis" therefore fulfilling israel's goal of manufacturing a humanitarian crisis. this entire war was with the purpose of collectively punishing a civilian population of 50% children. that's why it was immediately understood and labelled as a genocide by multiple genoide scholars, by the lemkin institute, and is currently on trial for genocide at the hague
like the starvation and the blocking of aid and the dropping of parachuted MREs to just barely salvage the reputation of a few politicians is not a byproduct of the war. it's not collateral damage. it is a central pillar of the genocide. acquiescing to israelis blocking aid by building ports and dropping pallets of food means acquiescing to famine as a strategy instead of trying to stop it. famine is not collateral damage, it is a central pillar of genocide. killing children is not collateral damage. it is a central pillar of the genocide. we don't need hindsight to say this plainly, anyone who denies it now is another pillar of genocide.

This is so bleak and it makes me want to throw up.
U.S. public opinion is deeply divided – and to a large extent uncertain – about whether President Joe Biden is striking the right balance in his approach to the war (21%), favoring the Israelis too much (22%) or favoring the Palestinians too much (16%). The largest single slice of the public –40% – is not sure how well Biden is handling the issue. While these views are broadly similar to what we found in a December 2023 Pew Research Center survey, opinion among those under 30 has shifted. In the February survey, 36% of those ages 18 to 29 say Biden is favoring Israel too much, up from 27% just a few months ago. (Explore this further in Chapter 2.) American Jews stand out for the relatively high share who say Biden is striking the right balance (45%). Only around a quarter or fewer in most other religious groups say the same, including just 6% of U.S. Muslims. Muslims are among the U.S. religious groups that are most inclined to say Biden favors the Israelis too much (60%). Among other religious and nonreligious groups, atheists (52%) and agnostics (43%) are especially likely to express this view.

I think it's always important to be reminded that the worst video you have seen from Gaza is in fact a drop in an ocean of atrocities committed by Israel every single minute of every day. Think about it, for that video to reach you, the horrific moment had to happen with someone who has a camera to be around and for that person to have a functioning phone service to upload it and for the video to circulate enough in order to reach you. Always remember that what you're seeing is what is happening to a single person out of over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza trying to survive this genocide, each one of them with a heartbreaking story of their own that probably will never manage to reach your feed. Things are infinitely worse than what we can even fathom.

Repost of Instagram post by alessandra_sanguinetti:
“In 2004 I worked as an intern in Newsweek and had to go through the wires coming in from the Middle East.
The Iraq war was raging. Israel was committing its routine violations and killings.
The images were devastating and unequivocally condemning of both the USA and Israel, but I remember the editors would reject all my picks and demand images of burnt cars or vague images of destruction.
So I brought a hard drive and collected everything they didn't publish.
It was my first live glimpse of the lack of ethics or integrity in most US media.
Not the journalists on the ground, but of the senior editors making the calls - in their self important glass cubicles.
And no, to the cynics out there..it's not all too complicated to discuss on social media.
Social media is the only reason we know what's happening in Palestine.
And the only reason mainstream news has to keep up and sprinkle some actual news now and then.
Meanwhile we are seeing much less footage coming out of Gaza - Israel has been killing off all the journalists.
This is terrifying.”

Israel telling it's citizens to edit wikipedia pages to "preserve the truth and sanctity of Israel" has got to be a new level of desperation.

“Israel is committing genocide.” Yes. They are. But so is the US. The US is 100% complicit in this, and Israel would not have been able to do as much without the help of the US. I’m disgusted to be living in a country that is complicit in the literal MURDER of civilians. Men, women, children, elderly, families. All dead because of Israel AND the US. This needs to STOP.
