"we mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling" oh, the two of you had sex? you explored each others bodies one drunken night? now the two of you are left to wonder if it meant more to you than it did to him? if the chemistry is nothing more than a game to be won? if asking him to dinner would make you a fool; the loser of the match?

Hmm
So because I’ve heard so many good things about Bunny, I went looking for other books by Mona Awad while I wait for it to come in. I’m about 80% of the way through Rouge rn, and uh. How do I put this in a way that does not scan as pure haterism.
Is Bunny better? Because if not I’ll never trust a recommendation from anyone ever again. Rouge isn’t awful, but it is dense and it does drag (and I’m listening on audio on 1.5 speed, so), and there’s a significant chunk of the prose that kiiiind of reads like that okayophelia style overdescriptiveness. I don’t mind the vagueness of background details and I don’t find the plot confusing the way I’ve seen some people say, I mostly just find the actual writing kind of a bummer because based on the rave reviews I’ve seen of Bunny, I expected it to be bright and cutting and good.
Please say Bunny is better.

I’m going to clean out the fridges and presses in the kitchen tonight btw. Please pray4niamh as this is always a harrowing experience due to my mother’s inability to do things like “check use by dates” or “make a shopping list”.
Well given I’m in no humour to work today I’m going to spend some time researching “recipes for people with gut issues that don’t like and taste like mulch”

Me: I find it upsetting how hard it is to find clothes as someone who falls into “plus size,” “tall,” AND “fuller bust” at 30 years old when all clothes are made to fit people who fit at most one of those things.
My mother: oh I understand. When I was 32 weeks pregnant with you-

Okay so I’ve moved all of gen fiction, all of FSF, all of classics, all of foreign language, all of YA+, all of the audiobooks, the CDs, and the short stories. What’s left of adult fiction.
