Life Update(s)
Hi!! I don't know who's still hanging around in this specific fandom corner, but this post goes out to you. Or, specifically, anyone still waiting for a fic update.
Sorry, there's only bad news, I think. In this phase of my life, I think it's safe to say I'm not going to be continuing Run the Gauntlet or any other iterations of the Sister-in-Arms storyline, including my other characters. Maybe no fanfiction in general for a while (or forever).
If you ever knew me from back in 2020 (Discord, here, AO3, etc), I have nothing but fond memories of when we'd workshop stories, share fanart, and just be happy together about HBO War in the literal dark void of that cursed year. I think the fact that it was so cursed was the only reason I was ever able to start or write so much of SiA. In a way, I think SiA is very cursed also, as a result of it being created within my covid headspace. These days I'm gearing up for a MS degree, preparing to graduate, and busy doing various spontaneous things that, tbh, are much more fun than banging out a thousand words a day in a dark room at midnight, even if I do still love to slip back into the I-am-June-in-my-mind headspace every now and then.
I apologize again for the sustained waiting for something I just didn't have the endurance to finish. It was a good run but it didn't end up amounting to a finished epic. That's okay. I learned more than I ever have before about the art of writing through the process, and am a better writer for it. Hopefully my first actual finished longpiece is going to end up on your local library fantasy-sci-fi shelf someday, under a different name. You won't even know it's me :)
Bye, guys! Thanks for a good time.

people can be so weird about their double standards for fanfiction vs traditional fiction. once saw someone very seriously say that people who write fic for the terror are fucked up and need to stop because those were literally real people who died on the franklin expedition, but they were also completely fine with tv show the terror itself existing, despite the fact that it, too, is fiction about the literally real people who died on the franklin expedition. our blessed historical fiction vs their barbarous rpf.

Can I ask when the next chapter might be released? I hate asking because you are a human being with a life. I just enjoy the fic and need a pick me up as i spent 400 dollars just to be told my cat is just fat and needs to diet. Hope all is well with you.
HEYYY thanks for asking!
I had to take a pause because of something I was seriously rethinking about the fic. It might take me a little longer to resolve but I still have interest in continuing.
I'm also vacationing right now but also inspired bc I'm in the general vicinity of Aldbourne!! wowwwww
I hope your cat gets un-fat. Hot girl summer is for everyone :)

ok so like does anyone else have the rational fear that
someone's gonna come along and mention/post/recommend/rant about their fic on tiktok or some other social media? Mostly tiktok, but I suppose there are other possibilities.
Like, I don't want random people from tiktok coming to read my stuff. I certainly don't want to ever get the attention of anyone associated with the production of these shows -- especially the actors, God forbid.
Like, oh my gosh the prospect of "blowing up" for fanart is so appealing -- like, my eyes *light up* you know what I mean -- but the thought of someone mentioning my fanfic on any other website gives me a cold sweat and heart palpitations

If you had to choose an actress to portray June, who would you choose if any?
Okay, so like. I've been thinking about this all weekend and I still don't have an answer so I figured I might as well be honest because I'm not too knowledgeable about actors!
This kind of reminds me about my initial thoughts on adding character descriptions in the fic, because other similar OC fics I'd read had them. Problem was, I couldn't get any descriptions I added to *not* sound like Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way so I sorta gave up. She's got dark brown hair and is about 5' 4" but anything beyond that I gladly leave up to the imagination of the reader.
Okay, back from the aside:
I don't have anyone in mind who looks like June, but I will say Evan Rachel Wood in Westworld played one of the most compelling protagonists I've seen, and her range would be great for the role. I also think Lauren Cohan (Maggie, TWD) really does the tough-girl-fighting-through-trauma thing well... uh, yeah oooof... which is what I'd be looking for especially for the post-Normandy portion of SiA. Florence Pugh really convinced me during her grieving fits in Midsommar, so maybe she's on the shortlist too? Jennifer Lawrence was really great as a sad soldier type character in the latter half of The Hunger Games -- not that I particularly like her, but I kinda love Katniss.
If I think any harder about the movies I've seen in my life, I think I'll probably combust so that's it for now. I can't come up with actress names for the life of me

I'm fairly sure this link has been posted before but I feel like shouting it out --
This site has a '40s radio channel (as well as channels for each era going to the 1900s) that I've really been enjoying when I get tired of my typical music rotation.
I didn't know where to start when trying to understand what the WWII GIs would have been playing in their clubs or on the Jukebox, but the station just gives you a randomized sampling that is super fun to listen to.
