I was lying in my bed and there is a voice inside my head who told me to love myself. Because if I don't, who is gonna do it ?
honestly, I don't really understand how you are supposed to feel things for someone. I'm not saying that I don't feel anything, just that it seems pretty hard.
so yeah I'm not going to wait forever until someone loves me to feel better.
This is my personal list of coquette icons and inspirations. Feel free to add on with yours! Some are real people and some are fictional.
- Lana Del Rey, obviously. She’s an icon for a lot of coquettes. She was a huge inspiration for the original community, the nymphette community. There’s something for almost every coquette in her diverse range of music, from her early, melancholy acoustics, her songs with guys like ASAP Rocky and The Weekend, her ethereal classical orchestra styled pieces, she has a song to fit almost every mood.
-Theda Bara for me personally. The prolific vampy early 20′s starlet with her big dark eyes and oddly normal life had mysterious stories crafted around everything, from her heritage to her stage name. Total fashion icon and mood.
-Mary-Ann from gilligan’s island. This sweet girl next door type is a fashion icon and total coquette! Playful, sweet, but knowledgeable, she always had a killer wardrobe.
-The baby sitters club and sailor moon. These are childhood favorites of mine, media directed at girls and teens with promote team work, friendship, independence, and many other positive values, as well as being entertaining. I’m in my 20′s, do all the adult stuff, and I still enjoy a little BSC or sailor moon. It helps me get in touch with my inner girl.
-Sofia Loren. This is for the italian girls who have more boobs and brown eyes than sense of ‘decency’.
-Audrey hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, Marilyn Monroe. Classic staples of the aesthetic. However, all of these It girls lived interesting, difficult lives, and were interesting and intellectual in spite of their screen personas.
Finally, the real coquettes,
@lovesickbrat and @vampyr3wife the founders of the coquette community.
