End-of-Year Appreciation Post

Let's see if I can get this done before midnight - I have 36 minutes! But I really wanted to get this posted, so... time for a speedrun! This post won't nearly be able to say everything I wanna say, so, first and foremost: I love and appreciate all of my mutuals and people I've gotten to talk to this year, so thanks for coming to my corner of the internet and gifting me a little (or a lot - because lord knows I don't shut up if someone mentions one of my favourite fandoms) of your time!

With that being said, time for some special thanks!

@wheresmybloodynauglamir The encyclopedia of Star Trek and one of my closest friends on this hellsite. Thanks so much for literally everything you've done for me this year and all the lovely conversations. Let's have a lot more of those next year! Live long and prosper <3

I hereby sincerely apologize for all the times I've hopped into our Discord chat to ramble about my OCs or whine about my hour-long adventures of looking for faceclaims and/or names, but I'm not planning on stopping anytime soon. The amount of positivity and support you bring into my life is immesurable and I absolutely adore you for supporting each of my OCs, even if you don't know their fandom, and how you let me introduce you to my newest hyperfixations when the brainrot strikes. - To many more rambling sessions!

@come-along-pond who allowed me to participate in the fyeahonepieceocs blog and gave me a platform to launch my own little project of a OP resources blog from. - Through anon hate and plot bunnies, you've helped me and supported me through so much and I'm really, really thankful for that!

My token adopted side character... Maybe I'll also hop into the Tatort fandom, who knows? Also, can we make Rosenheim Cops a fandom? I feel kinda lonely and silly over here lol

There's one fic featuring Luz and one featuring Bull curently in my projects list!

@maxwellshimbo @asaturnerofficial and all the other lurkers and people I constantly find in my notes - you always brighten my day. I'll have had an awful no good time but then I see you and I go: "Ah yes, my friends are still here" and I feel so much better!

Wow, thanks for the tag! I'm so excited to see what you do with your fic in the future! I think this is gonna be really epic :D

As inspired by @claramurphyqueenoffandoms's recent return, the awesome not-quite-human AU ideas by @acaplaya-musings and Queen in 5 Minutes coming on shuffle on my walk home, I am once again thinking about what I'm gonna do with my Vocalization series.

As none of you probably know, my beloved VoicePlay fanfic called Vocalization started off on Wattpad in 2020 and, looking back at it now, is maybe the purest mirror of my mindset back then that I have ever seen. It's only fitting that Evelynn, my OC for the fic, eventually became my namesake. If you've been a VoicePlay fan for a bit longer, you'll know that, in the summer 2020, Earl left the group, and this broke my heart and set off the end of that phase of my VP-related creations. Eventually, even though VoicePlay was still going through member changes, I got back into Vocalization, and I decided to revamp the fic on AO3 because I myself had changed as a person and the fic didn't suit my tastes anymore.

Now, once again years later, I feel like I've become a completely different person from who I was back when Vocalization started, but Evelynn/Evie has stuck with me, and I feel like it's only fair to bring the fic full circle too and get back into it... Only I want to do it a little differently this time. The whole idea of "Oh it's VoicePlay but the Kidnapped series actually happened and now they have a girl with them" just doesn't work out for me anymore.

So, what I think I wanna do is I wanna bring my supernatural AU into the main fic. Not the story of the AU necessarily, but just some aspects like the powers to spice things up a little and create an actual plot. That probably means revamping or tweaking some of the powers, but I think it could work! Huge thanks to @acaplaya-musings for opening my eyes to the possibility of how that could work - don't worry, I'm not gonna steal your ideas. I'm gonna try to stay away from them as far as possible, but my Geoff is still gonna be a demon because I my thought process was very similar to yours when I created my supernatural AU ^^"

Anyways, OPLA still has me deep in its clutches and I wouldn’t have it any other way, but once I get back into my VoicePlay phase, this is probably what you're gonna have to deal with :)

Literally none of the Drakos are broody vampires. They’re either super “old” archaeologists or total country farm gals or popular blonde cheerleader type chicks or legit just all the werewolf tropes because it’s funny. But the one who actually fits all the classic, traditional vampire tropes is the cheeriest and friendliest guy ever and, oh, also the only one who’s not a vampire.

I’m sick of all the brooding vampire stories. Like, I want a vampire like Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. Just a girl who’s all in the pink girly stuff and OWNING IT.

Like, Imagine a family of dark Victorian Vampries who are very traditional with a vampire daughter who’s wearing a Y2K pink sparkly jumpsuit with her nails freshly painted and her familiar toy poodle in her purse.

“Oh yeah! My Dad is Zachaeus Van Hellwrithe the III! I know he looks like SUUPPEER intimidating but, like he’s super sweet. We even got our nails painted together! :)”

She’s not treated like an outcast from her family and they fully embrace her pink sparkly quirkiness.

Watching my toddler figure out how to language is fascinating. Yesterday we were stumped when he kept insisting there was a “Lego winner” behind his bookshelf - it turned out to be a little Lego trophy cup. Not knowing the word for “trophy”, he’d extrapolated a word for “thing you can win”. And then, just now, he held up his empty milk container and said, “Mummy? It’s not rubbish. It’s allowed to be a bottle.” - meaning, effectively, “I want this. Don’t throw it away.” But to an adult ear, there’s something quite lovely about “it’s allowed to be a bottle,” as if we’re acknowledging that the object is entitled to keep its title even in the absence of the original function.
